What is the best tool to track US positions from the UK?
-
We are currently tracking the rankings of a US-based client (we are UK-based) and it appears we are seeing some considerable differences in positions.
To check ranks we often use Fat Rank which can be set to a US-based search and a manual search on Google.com. However, our American client is receiving different results (actually higher positions than we have recorded!) and is claiming to have used both a manual check on Google.com and the following tool.
http://smallseotools.com/keyword-position/Would anybody be able to tell me how accurate this tool is regarding US-based positions?
We’ve since made use of the tool too and it adheres to the rankings that the US-based client is claiming – rather than our checks using Fat Rank and Google.com. -
I agree with Jesse you are already a Pro member and the ability to track keywords in the SERPS comes with your complete package.
I would use
http://moz.com/researchtools/rank-tracker
or
This is a fantastic tool it allows you to check almost every country on the map except for North Korea and even get as granular as by zip code
This link will take you to the free check however you will have to enter it manually and you must sign up for the trial and then pay for the software after 30 days to continue tracking rankings all over the world.
https://serps.com/tools/rank_checker this is free
You can also use the trial versions and keep in mind you must pay after 30 days both of the tools here
https://serps.com/
http://authoritylabs.com/
can give you the zip code level searching. I utilize Moz, SERPS & AuthorityLabs I find it very comforting to have that ability and honestly most of it was from interest in which was better at what and what made them different. I would recommend connecting Google analytics to all of them
The only time I would not use Moz is an extremely rare occasion where local matters a lot for instance you want the zip code of whatever country or state has the answer you're looking for lies in whatever countries Providence, broken into zip code via state or ProvidenceI would then consider using
SERPS.com they have a free tool as well that will allow you to check your zip code rankings in any country for free however you must sign up and use the trial than pay if you wish to track them.
I also agree search metrics & sistrix are outstanding tools and unfortunately is not free but will do the job as well.
Great answers everyone.
Sincerely,
Thomas -
searchmetrics & sistrix are international tracking tools used in Germany... but not for free
-
Well... I'd use the Moz Rank Tracker but that may be too obvious seeing as how we're on the Moz forums and all. But just in case: http://moz.com/researchtools/rank-tracker

Search volume discrepancies between keyword tools
I'm feeling like I'm basing all my research time on tools that I cannot necessarily trust. Between Google keyword planner, Keywords everywhere chrome extension, and Moz keyword explorer, I'm getting wildly different results on 2 simple keywords related to colleges with baking & pastry arts degrees. "baking college", "baking colleges" So Keyword planner won't give me any search volume for those 2 words, I don't even see them in the results. Instead, it decides I really meant "baker college" which has 33,100 global searches. I tried telling it use only closely related terms, but it keeps giving me "baker college" and refuses to show me the terms I asked for. Stubbornly useless. Keywords everywhere says both of these keywords bring in 33,100 searches. It does not tell me those searches were for "baker college." Totally misleading. Moz keyword explorer says baking college as 0-10 volume, baking colleges has 101-200 volume. So at least it's not trying to give me "baker college" numbers. Perhaps I can trust this, but it's not convenient to upload hundreds of various keywords at a time to pull the volume numbers like I do with the other tools. With Keyword planner making assumptions and grouping unrelated terms together, and Keywords everywhere using those numbers without pointing out the assumptions, I feel like I can't trust anything without taking time to dig into the discrepancies, which is impossible with hundreds of keywords. Do you know of any good search volume tools that don't force or hide assumptions? Thanks.

Does Moz's keyword tool pull data from your IP address?
Does anyone know how Moz's keyword tool pulls their keyword ranks? Do they take it based off of the IP (history and cookies) that is being used? I am trying to find a way to collect keyword data that is neutral and not based off of my previous searches, etc. TIA

GA snippets for subdomains and best tracking in MOZ
Hey there, I have a blog running at blog.URL.com. I need to add Google Analytics and I want to track the value of this subdomain as separate from the main URL. Can I do that? If I do a unique snippet in the header of the blog is that the right way to go? The main site is on an antiquated CMS system and will be converted over the next few months to a full on WP site, does that change anything long-term? Thanks in advance for your help. Cheers, Lisa

Keyword Difficulty tool showing Google search volume or Bing?
Hi, I plugged in a bunch of keywords to know their search volume, chose Google from the drop down and then chose English from the next dropdown and clicked on Check dificulty. It shoes me "Bing Search Volume (Exact Match)" on top but shows the name of the keyword and "for Google CA" on the left. Is the search volume for Google? or Bing? and the difficulty as well? Google or Bing? "

Keyword Tool using Bing instead of Google
I'm trying to analyze some keywords, and I've selected 'Google' and 'United States' - but when the ranking comes back, it is showing up as the rankings for Bing. Any idea why this continues to happen? Thanks!
