Organic Traffic down after WordPress switch.
-
I recently switched our company's website over to Wordpress in February. Organic traffic went down....

Same content, there are a few different page URLs but most of all it is all the same and I've SEO'd it to pieces.
Any thoughts? I can't figure this one out.

I did make the mistake of not re-directing...and just fixed and are looking at the results. The majority of decline was in Google but didn't seem to be a huge ranking loss...hoping I may have just fixed it with re-directs but still too early to tell. Thanks for the input. Will report back soon.

Hi Steve
We have to get really specific with what happened - few questions;
- can you segment traffic to show more specifically where the loss was? was it from Google only?
- did the loss occur across all pages? just the homepage? try to get really specific with segments to narrow it down
- of the URLs that did change, were they redirected?
- did things like page titles etc all change, or did you maintain those exactly the same?
- was there ranking loss?
TY!

the theme is called iBuze and it was developed by Goodlayers. Pretty sure it's clean. Haven't seen any hidden links. Where would you typically look?

Hi Steve,
If you have moved the site over to WordPress but remained on a windows server this could be causing the speed problems. Could be because I am in the UK but the site is dead slow and caused time out errors on many pages with the crawl tool I used (Screaming Frog). There are 40 (404) errors on your site - mostly from the e-mail link in the top corner of each page - its broken. Are you monitoring webmaster tools for errors? If that has been broken for a while it could be a factor.
Adding suitable categories and tags to your posts can really help in WordPress. I can recommend this guide to WordPress SEO: http://yoast.com/articles/wordpress-seo/
The site is coming up in searches - I am surprised that WordPress did not improve the rankings it usually does, but WordPress can be slow.
Hope this helps
Alison

Hi Steve,
What Wordpress theme are you using? Some have embedded links that can hurt your rankings. Other have hidden links, did you check everything out and it's clean from this point of view?
-
Hmmm....looking at it in Analytics, it seems to be about normal. Obviously the lower the better but what is a good site speed?
-
Hi Steve,
I think your problem lies in the site speed.
We had this problem with WordPress we solved it by switching to a linux server from a windows server. Have you checked this?
Good Luck
Alison

When my new website went live I saw a huge spike in traffic for 3 weeks but then it halved again. Why would this happen?
My new website went live on 13th April and the organic traffic levels increased by 110%, staying at that level for 3 weeks. Then exactly 3 weeks later the organic traffic halved again, going back to the same level as the old site. Has anyone seen this happen before or worked out why?! Thanks Viki P2R76O9

Google Analytics - Organic Search Traffic & Queries -What caused the huge difference?
Our website traffic dropped a little bit during the last month, but it's getting better now, almost the same with previous period. But our conversion rate dropped by 50% for the last three weeks. What could cause this huge drop in conversion rate? In Google Analytics, I compared the Organic Search Traffic with previous period, the result is similar. But the Search Engine Optimization ->Queries shows that the clicks for last month is almost zero. What could be the cause of this huge differnce? e9sJNwD.png k4M8Fa5.png

How to filter out client traffic
Hi, I would like to filter out traffic in GA that comes to my client site just to login into their application. Is there a way to create a filter or segment that if a visitor exits the site to a subdomain it will filter them out? For example, they land on the homepage (abc.com/), click the login tab (drop down screen) and login and go to their application dashboard (app.abc.com/). I would like to delete this traffic segment as it is creates high bounce rates and makes it difficult to test landing pages. Thanks so much, Donna 🙂

(Not provided) organic search results in Analytics
Hi, So from what I've read, (not provided) organic search results in Analytics is a result of the user being logged into Google. The problem I have is about 20% of the organic search results are (Not provided), so what is mainly left are branded search terms. I think I'm clutching at straws, but is there anything I can do to see these organic traffic sources?

No (Not Provided) Traffic
Hi All, I have a site that gets around 500,000 visits every month from the UK and US, but funny enough the number number of visits under (not provided) traffic is only 179 per month. For most websites I usually get 10% or 15% of the traffic under not provided, what could the reasons be for such a low percentage of (not provided)? Thanks, Carlos

GA stopped tracking traffic, suddenly, why¿? :-/
2 days ago GA stopped receiving data. It only stopped for one account of all my projects. At this moment there are 5 persons navigating the site and these days there where numerous visitors as they contacted the support team thru the site. GA says that it's receiving the code, hw, I checked it twice. The tracking code is located below the footer, in the body. It was there for few years.... I also checked if there is some js conflict, negative. Is there something that could make the tracking to stop? Does anybody experienced similar problems¿? Should I be worried...¿? (and with SEOmoz server with issues not sure when will see new results.......) EDIT: In Web Master Tools I see results for indexing, with yesterday date, so I assume that the site crawling is ok and must be GA issue.

How Can I Record .zip Traffic in Google Analytics
The company I am with shows traffic coming in to .zip files in Google Analytics. The traffic being recorded stopped a while back, but I know people are still downloading/visiting these .zip ULRs. I'm not sure how they were recording/tracking the .zip URLs (in Analytics) before, but I'd like to track them once again. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks

Overall site traffic - 3 quick questions
3 things : 1. Does Google factor in overall site traffic in rankings? So for 2 sites, all other things being pretty much equal, the one with higher traffic will be listed higher? 2. Does this logically imply that sites with lower traffic overall face an uphill struggle to be ranked highly??? 3. As an extension to this, would it be true to say that by increasing site traffic, say with Google Adwords or other online or offiline or whatever advertising, that might help get higher SEO rankings??? Thanks so much for your responses. This forum is great!
