Duplicate page content errors stemming from CMS

Hello!
We've recently relaunched (and completely restructured) our website. All looks well except for some duplicate content issues. Our internal CMS (custom) adds a /content/ to each page. Our development team has also set-up URLs to work without /content/.
Is there a way I can tell Google that these are the same pages. I looked into the parameters tool, but that seemed more in-line with ecommerce and the like.
Am I missing anything else?

Yeah, I actually requested that the canonical tag be added into the editable fields area when creating a page. Works like a charm — except when you're trying to add canonicals for /content/. Because it's automatically added in the CMS, I error when trying to create a canonical stack for:

From the look of the info you have given about all URLs having /content/ after the domain name, I think you may be using Drupal as your CMS. If it is, whilst I don't know a great deal about Drupal, it may be worth looking at what extensions Drupal has for dealing with duplicate page issues.

I'd say before you utilize the canonical element It might be worth the dev time to choose one or the other and have the CMS configured to either drop the '/content/' in the urls or just stop creating the versions without '/content/'.
I'm sure you've already considered that, I'm just saying that is the way I'd go. Remember, the canonical element is just a suggestion so won't guarantee the results you are after. Better to just address it in the CMS or stop creating the duplicates. Good luck!

You need to use the rel=canonical tag.
All of the duplicate pages (content/pages) need a tag in the head (the canonical tag)-- which points to the original.
That will solve your duplicate content problem.
I don't know if you'll need to do this, but depending on the coding language, you may need to have an if/then statement in your PHP, ruby, ASP...whatever.

Weight of content further down a page
Hi, A client is trying to justify a design decision by saying he needs all the links for all his sub pages on the top level category page as google won't index them; however the links are available on the sub category and the sub category is linked to from the top level page so I have argued as long as google can crawl the links through the pages they will be indexed and won't be penalised. Am I correct? Additionally the client has said those links need to be towards the top of the page as content further down the page carries less weight; I don't believe this is the case but can you confirm? Wondering if creating 256 new pages would cause duplicate content issues
I just completed a long post that reviews 16 landing page tools. I want to add 256 new pages that compare each tool against each other. For example: Leadpages vs. Instapage Leadpages vs. Unbounce Instapage vs. Unbounce, etc Each page will have one product's information on the left and the other on the right. So each page will be a unique combination BUT the same product information will be found on several other pages (its other comparisons vs the other 15 tools). This is because the Leadpages comparison information (a table) will be the same no matter which tool it is being compared against. If my math is correct, this will create 256 new pages - one for each combination of the 16 tools against each other! My site now is new and only has 6 posts/pages if that matters. Want to make sure I don't create a problem early on...Any thoughts?

URL Capitalization Inconsistencies Registering Duplicate Content Crawl Errors
Hello, I have a very large website that has a good amount of "Duplicate Content" issues according to MOZ. In reality though, it is not a problem with duplicate content, but rather a problem with URLs. For example: http://acme.com/product/features and http://acme.com/Product/Features both land on the same page, but MOZ is seeing them as separate pages, therefor assuming they are duplicates. We have recently implemented a solution to automatically de-captialize all characters in the URL, so when you type acme.com/Products, the URL will automatically change to acme.com/products – but MOZ continues to flag multiple "Duplicate Content" issues. I noticed that many of the links on the website still have the uppercase letters in the URL even though when clicked, the URL changes to all lower case. Could this be causing the issue? What is the best way to remove the "Duplicate Content" issues that are not actually duplicate content?

Loading Content Asynchronously for Page Speed Purposes?
Pages for my companies play process load slowly because the process is heavy. Below the play process there is a block of text, put mostly there for SEO purposes. R&D are proposing to load the SEO Area only after the play process is loading.

Best practice with duplicate content. Cd
Our website has recently been updated, now it seems that all of our products pages look like this cdnorigin.companyname.com/catagory/product Google is showing these pages within the search. rather then companyname.com/catagory/product Each product page does have a canaonacal tag on that points to the cdnorigin page. Is this best practice? i dont think that cdnorigin.companyname etc looks very goon in the search. is there any reason why my designer would set the canonical tags up this way?

Is this duplicate content?
My client has several articles and pages that have 2 different URLs For example: /bc-blazes-construction-trail is the same article as: /article.cfm?intDocID=22572 I was not sure if this was duplicate content or not ... Or if I should be putting "/article.cfm" into the robots.txt file or not.. if anyone could help me out, that would be awesome! Thanks 🙂
