What percentage of linking root domains is safe for guest posting

Hello,
From what I've been experiencing and learning lately, link building seems to be good only in moderation and content marketing - stellar targeted authoritative content - attracting links and pushing it on social channels seems to be much safer.
My question is, high quality guest posting - quality sites with good anchor text profile 3+ PR (hopefully more) and one link back from the body of the content to the home page or an article you're pushing - seems good but only in moderation.
For high quality guest posting, what would you recommend our percentage of linking root domains to allocating to guest posting.
I'm looking for a safe percentage that will hopefully not get devalued any time soon, and any additional advice on making this a good long term balanced strategy.

I don't think there is a hard and fast rule on that Bob. So many things are involved--value of the page, value of the domain, follow/nofollow, velocity, the value of the non-guest post links, domain diversity, the future quality of those guest blog sites. I'd hazard a guess that you're safe with 3/10 but I have nothing to go on for that number. The thing is, as with all link building, if you put too much emphasis on any one kind of link, you risk of getting burned in some fashion down the road goes up substantially.

We have been focusing on sites that don't say they do guest posting, and let us guest post because we are an authority. That sounds like something we should continue.
Still, how much of this high quality guest posting should we do? (1 out of 10 links acquired? 1 out of 5? 1 out of 20?) In our eCommerce niche, nobody reads the articles so content marketing without outreach is tough

The value of a guest post depends on the quality of the content, the amount of social interaction that happens because of it, and the site it's been posted on. PageRank shouldn't be part of your decision-making, as good links are hard to come by and PR isn't a factor in what makes a good link--for most sites. Let me emphasize-- PR isn't a factor in what makes a good link--for most sites. As a matter of fact, sites with high PR and that do a lot of guest posting might be sites to stay away from, I can see a time when a bunch (or even a few) of those links could bite you in the a*s.
If the site allows guest post for topics of a wide variety of niches, it's really no better than an old style directory--Google's not going to give it any weight. If there are lots of blog posts but nobody's commenting on the posts (or it's mostly comment spam), your guest post and the link it carries isn't going to be worth very much to the linked-to site.

Should my images on Pinterest point to the affiliate links or back to my site?
I have a affiliate site that involves handmade boots (i.e. cowboy boots, hinking boots, etc...). I currently put pics of them on my sites with a affiliate link. After I do this, I use the Pinterest browser button in chrome and add them to my Pinterest account. It adds these images to my Pinterest account with the affiliate link. Should I be doing this or should I be adding them to my Pinterest with links to my website?

Why am I seeing so many referalls to my root domain from Facebook in Google Analytics?
When we look at referalls from Facebook in Google Analytics, more than 50% (and sometimes upwards of 80%) of the traffic we're getting is listed as landing on our root domain. The thing is, we don't have any direct links TO our root domain on our Facebook page. So is this legitimate traffic, and how are they getting to our page if we have no links to it? We do post links to stories, videos, etc, but those are to the individual pages, not to our root domain. When I look at those pages that we link to, they do have traffic numbers, but nothing compared to the root domain. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks.

Twitter cards - one account, various domains?
Hi guys, I have a number of events run by the same company, all with their own websites. For a number of reasons, these individual events don't have their own social channels. Instead, the company's main social channels are used to promote the events wherever possible. I want to implement twitter card markup into each of the sites and associate the markup with the company's main twitter account. Does anyone know whether it's possible to get twitter cards approved for one account across multiple domains? I'd hate to apply for one site using the account, only to find out I can't apply for others! So before I venture into the unknown, was hoping someone could shed some light on this. Cheers 🙂

Tool to get all the Social Shares for a Domain
Does anyone know of a tool that can get you the total, or close to it, social shares an entire domain has received? I know of... http://www.sharedcount.com/ - but this only gets shares for the entered URL not the entire domain. http://www.pagesort.com/ - this seems to dig a little deeper but not deep enough. I know opensite explorer gets some data as well but still seems very limited.

Hello friends, I have a website, linked to my google plus profile and google plus page of the website. But after reading the post http://moz.com/blog/google-plus-correlations , something is not clear for me... To gain some seo benefit when I share a post, Should I share it on my google plus profile or in the google plus page of my website ? BTW, Its better to gain more followers to my google plus profile or to the google plus page of my website? Thanks...

Google+ Doesn't Show my Post Title
When I create a new blog post and link to it on Google+, the thumbnail & description are correct, but the HTML title it pulls in is just the company name. I have the proper HTML title tag and OpenGraph tagging on the page too, but lately (last 3 posts) it just shows company name: Here's an example. Question on RyanKent's Identifying Link Penalties 2012 Article
I have a question about this article: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/identifying-link-penalties-in-2012 Specifically the Section Titled: Other Google Link Penalties _"Google often manually penalizes sites and does not inform site owners of the penalty. Furthermore, Google makes many algorithm changes each year. Most people are aware of the major algorithm changes, but you should also know Google makes about 50 algorithmic changes each month which could lead to ranking changes or an "algorithmic penalty". With the Penguin update specifically, we are unsure if there will be further refinements and rollouts as has happened with Panda. On May 25th Google rolled out what Search Engine Land calls Penguin 1.1. _ What advice is available for a site owner who wants to know if they have received a link penalty or at risk in the future? Check your anchor text distribution to see if it appears natural. You can perform a fast check in Open Site Explorer of your top 20 links as follows: Go to http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/ Enter in the URL of your site and press <enter>or the SEARCH button</enter> Change your drop down box settings as follows: Show [followed + 301] links from [only external] pages to [pages on this root domain]…..then press the FILTER button. These settings will remove the “nofollow” and internal links which are not evaluated by Google as part of link penalties. You will now see a list of all links to your site which may cause you to incur a penalty. For now, focus only on the Link Anchor Text column. If 50%+ of your top 10 links show the same or very similar anchor text, that is a warning sign of a very unnatural link profile. Of course, a deeper analysis is desirable but this method offers you some idea of the problem in just a few seconds. Hopefully your anchor text distribution looks more natural than the below example. Notice how all the links show anchor text? A natural distribution would show a high percentage of links with simply the site URL. When anchor text is naturally used, it is often far less than ideal." Anyway, with anchor text looking the same - would this have a negative impact if i was syndicating content to 10-15 blogs, or if i used onlyshare and did it to 50 or something. Would this impact me eventaully in a long term sense. I tend to write articles at least weekly for these sites so that i make sure i have fresh content, if me syndicating them/sharing the excerpt to my blog pages w/ anchor pages back to my main article is hurting me by having multiple pages linking back w/ the same exact anchor text, that would be a good thing to know. Any input on this would be much appreciated. Keep in mind i'm not creating 10k blogs and having one blog post on them. They are actively posted to. With my established site they seem to work great- but with a new site, would popping 10-15 links real quick like that set off any alarms? thank you, -Travis Gross
