Duplicate Titles caused by blog
-
Hey I've done some research and understand the canonical tags and rel prev and rel next, but I wanted to get someones opinion on if we needed it since the articles are somewhat independent of each in content (there's a focus on both banks and accountants)
We have over 68 pages of blog materials
http://www.sageworks.com/blog/default.aspx?page=7
through
http://www.sageworks.com/blog/default.aspx?page=68
Thanks in advance for your help!

Unfortunately we're using blogengine.net and it's not the easiest to navigate. There is a place to enter custom coding in the heading, but it doesn't specify whether it is for the archived pages or not. From what I can tell, on the specific pages, there are nofollow codes for each individual story on each archive page, but not for the archive page itself. Sorry, relatively new to this.

Hi Josh, I'm not sure what CMS you are using, but there should be some way to update the template for your archive pages, which will update all your archive pages. Just add this code in the section of the template:
name="robots" content="noindex,follow" />

Hey Takeshi,
Thanks for the response! How would you go about no indexing the archives? Or should I just canonical all the previous blog pages to the 1st?

Pagination can is a somewhat tricky subject. The best solution is usually to include pagination markup (rel=next/prev) and include the appropriate canonical tags to avoid duplicate content. This brief tutorial from Google explains what to do:
http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.co.uk/2011/09/pagination-with-relnext-and-relprev.html
If you really want 68 pages of archives indexed (not recommended post-Panda, but it's up to you) at least have your CMS generate unique titles for each page ("Blog Archive Page 1 | Sageworks", "Blog Archive Page 2 | Sageworks", etc).

Well it's true that the articles are independent in content, but these pages are simply the index/teasers for said articles. I'm not sure you need your archive lists indexed so much as the articles themselves, so why not use Canonical tags to solve this problem and canonical them all to page 1? (or whatever one holds the most recent blogs)
Hope that helps/makes sense.

Duplicate Homepage - How to fix?
Hi Everyone, I've tried using BeamUsUp SEO Crawler and have found one warning and two errors on our site. The warning is for a duplicate meta description, and the errors are a duplicate page and a duplicate title. For each problem it's showing the same two pages as the source of the error, but one has a slash at the end and one doesn't. They're both for the homepage. https://www.url.com/ And https://www.url.com Has anyone seen this before? Does anyone know if this is anything we should worry about?

Duplicate Title tags even with rel=canonical
Hello, We were having duplicate content in our blog (a replica of each post automatically was done by the CMS), until we recently implemented a rel=canonical tag to all the duplicate posts (some 5 weeks ago). So far, no duplicate content were been found, but we are still getting duplicate title tags, though the rel=canonical is present. Any idea why is this the case and what can we do to solve it? Thanks in advance for your help. Tej Luchmun

Google changing the meta title for the homepage causing branding issues
A client of mine." Ross X Bute" current meta title is "Luxury designer clothing | Womens designer clothing" for the homepage. If i search for luxury designer clothing it will show the full meta title for the homepage. however if i search for the brand name.... "Ross & Bute" will show instead of the meta title. Whats the problem? Well my client a few month ago has decided to re brand the business to have a "X" to show instead of the "And". The rest of the site is branded with an "X" rather than "And" The URL www.rossandbute.com, so you can understand where google is getting this assumption from. Is there anyway to change this so it reads the the meta title in the SERPs? Thanks

Issue with duplicate content in blog
I have blog where all the pages r get indexed, with rich content in it. But In blogs tag and category url are also get indexed. i have just added my blog in seomoz pro, and i have checked my Crawl Diagnostics Summary in that its showing me that some of your blog content are same. For Example: www.abcdef.com/watches/cool-watches-of-2012/ these url is already get indexed, but i have asigned some tag and catgeory fo these url also which have also get indexed with the same content. so how shall i stop search engines to do not crawl these tag and categories pages. if i have more no - follow tags in my blog does it gives negative impact to search engines, any alternate way to tell search engines to stop crawling these category and tag pages.

Duplicate page content and duplicate pate title
Hi, i am running a global concept that operates with one webpage that has lot of content, the content is also available on different domains, but with in the same concept. I think i am getting bad ranking due to duplicate content, since some of the content is mirrored from the main page to the other "support pages" and they are almost 200 in total. Can i do some changes to work around this or am i just screwed 🙂
