Do Link wheel works?
-
Hello,
I am new to link wheel over web 2.0 sites and then linking your website or website article really helps in SEO and link building.
Do you think its still works?
Since i have also heard that many says that its too ok if we do spin content submitted to our web 2.0 properties small sites which are created for linking back to our main website.
Will wait for reply...

As with any link building strategy / method, it all depends on the quality of your link wheels.
A poorly built link wheel will provide no noticeable results and in the worst case, you'll end up with a penalty.
A properly built link wheel, will take more time (and/or money) to build but the results will be up there, you'll get increased keyword rankings and also indirect traffic from the link wheel sites, and contrary to popular belief, if you build it right, google will not be able to spot it and you'll be penalty free.
If you plan to build a link wheel, I would recommend you to read all the resources at linkwheel.pro before you start building one.

All the confusions are clear. I understand SEO shall be a long term white hat SEO and shall not contain anything which can create in future cause for the site to degrade its value.
Thanks to Marcus & 1mike for your valuable replies and clearifying my confusions about Link Wheel i agree to both of your comments and thanks for sharing the research work you have done on the same.

Link wheels in the past have been very effective. We see them all the time in the link profiles of small SEO firms (or I should say local SEO firms). Some have built much of their rankings on them.
I am not going to preach here, we all have strayed no and then into the less "white hat" areas of SEO ( Except us, if Google is reading this ;))
Marcus makes a valid point. If you are going to be an SEO you have to decide what type of SEO you are going to be. Link wheels are considered cheap and amateur tactics, that have a short self life. In our research it appears it's like a drug addiction. Once you start, you can not stop or the rankings start to fall. So you get stuck in the endless cycle of building cheap links to cheap web sites, and then one day you will wake up and Google and Bing will have completely discounted all your work.
Why not look for and express great ideas. Great content is the starting point. A calculator, a contest, a tips, a cartoon, any thing that will make the clients site more attractive to be bookmarked.
I feel your pain. We have all been there. But do at least consider the more experienced voices on here.

Hey, it's a bad approach. You are polluting the web with garbage and this kind of weak content is filtered with increasing accuracy all the time.
Don't do it man.

Hello Marcus,
Thanks for your time and detailed reply... I understood that you said it might a short term thing to deal with... however
I am already in follow of open site explorer help, blog comment, article writing and sharing to main article directories only a few 7-10 max., etc which are natural link building processes i am already following. I am also involved in guest blogging sort of good efforts. I already know that i am ranking on 3rd page for one of my new website now in just 1 month and i know so far i didnot done anything for short term or such kind of SEO practices. But i thought if it can help in SEO to create Link Wheel on good web 2.0 sites with SPIN content just to get few more link diversity ?
Or you think its also no use.
Since based upon your last reply i am right now having my mind negative towards it
But i will wait for what you think on it... after reading my above noted reason "Link Diversity"

Hey
- Does it work? Maybe, maybe not, a little bit, short term type of benefit.
- Does it keep working? Nope
- Will you be trapped in a cycle of building low quality, short term links? Yes
- Does it get less useful very quickly? Yes
This is not the way to go about things. You will end up putting in maximum effort for minimum returns.
Your time would be better spent elsewhere and these articles are a good start:

Linking to my Site so I should Link Back?
I remember hearing a few years ago that it was a good practice to link back to a site that was linking to you. My company's site was referenced and linked to in a news article. The news company has an above average domain authority, which is pretty good for my company's backlink profile. Is it still or was ever a "best practice" to link back to this website/domain? I feel like linking back was a best practice, but when I try to search this, all I get back is backlinking 101 and backlinking articles. Nothing really answering my question straight forward. Thanks for any help.

Too many navigational links
Hi there, I have an issue with the amount of internal links on my webpages. Moz campaign manager gives a lot of 'too many on page links' issues. Over 7000.
Technical SEO | | MarcelMoz
I know the importance of a good internal linking structure. 1. Not too many internal links (over approximately 100) is good for flowing through some authority from authoritive pages.
2. Too many internal links can spend all of the 'crawler budget' so the crawlers won't crawl the complete website anymore (right?). This can cause problems with indexing new webpages (right?). This is the situation: The website is a webshop The header contains 6 links, the footer contains 32 links, the homepage contains 42 links, the body content of some category pages contains a variated amount of links from 30 to a maximum of 100 links. Product pages do contain a maximum of 25 links. There is no problem here. Now here's the problem: The website navigation is a dropdown menu that contains 167 links to tier 2. These links are very important for our visitors. They can immediately find the right category/product by it. Removing or shrinking this dropdown is not an option. But the dropdown navigation is causing all of the 'too many on page links' issues. Question: is there a SEO (indexing, PA) problem in this situation which i should solve? What should I solve and how should I solve this? Note: pages have good organic positions and authority. Thanks a lot. Marcel0 -
Thousands of external links
My site has supposedly over 4,000 external links from it. Is there a good piece of software that could scrape my site that tell me from which page all the links originate from and where they're all going? I'm surprised that the number is this high because our entire site is only a few hundred pages. Here's the site XXXkidecalsXXX.com (just remove the XXX for the URL.) If you want to weigh in on any other issues you see with the site, I'd be happy for any suggestions in general.

Site links show spam
Hi folks, I'm working on a website that runs on WordPress and was not updated by the owner, this has resulted in a malware injection and now when you search the companies name in Google, the site links appear with words like Viagra, et al. I've seen this a number of times, so I went through the code and have removed all the malware. I presume I now have to wait for Google to recrawl the website and update the site links? Is there anything else I should be doing to speed up the process? Thank you 🙂

Link Building - Quality,Quantity, or both?
Hello SEOMozzers, As I embark on yet another client's link campaign I ask myself where best to spend resources(time and money) on link building. Typically I provide a mix of blogroll links, article syndication contextual links, social media posting and high PR one way links. I would like to know if anyone here finds one form of link to carry weight over the rest. I have my suspicion and my own theory on it but I would like to know what the moz concensus is.

Spam links on my Backlink Profile
Recently after checking my backlink profile, my site has attracted quite a few spam backlinks with the anchor text written in Asian characters. We don't do any black-hat tactics and have remained clean in our process, as well as not submitted our site to any spam directories, yet we still have these foreign links. Any thoughts on how to get rid of these or stop these from occurring?

Too many links on my site
Hi there everybody, I am a total SEO newbie and i am burning with questions. I had my site crawled and found out that it contains too many links. The reason is that it is a site where I constantly write news and articles and each one of them is a new Joomla item, thus a new link. I actually thought lots of content is good for SEO. How am I supposed to reduce the link amount?
