Pages with Duplicate Page Content
-
Hi
Just started use the Moz and got an analytics report today!
There about 104 duplicate pages apparently, the problem is that they are not duplicates, but just the way the page has been listed with a description! The site is an Opencart and every page as got the name of the site followed by the product name for the page!
How do you correct this issue??
Thank for your help

Hello DRSMPR,
You don't have any meta descriptions at all on those pages, and the title tag is just one word. Both of these should be optimized for every category page and product page. However, I don't think that has anything to do with the alerts you are receiving from Moz. I think those are related to non-canonical URLs produced by the system whenever sorting parameters are added to the URL. For example:
http://www.bebeautifulboutique.com/Decleor
The page above is the same as the URL below:
http://www.bebeautifulboutique.com/Decleor?sort=p.price&order=ASCThis causes a lot of duplicate content issues, as can be seen with this Google search. You can fix it in several different ways. I will list them below in order of my preference:
#1 Use a rel canonical tagThis URL ---> http://www.bebeautifulboutique.com/Decleor?sort=p.price&order=ASC - should list this URL ---> http://www.bebeautifulboutique.com/Decleor - as the rel="canonical" URL. Learn more here.
#2 Use the robots.txt file
Your site does not currently have a robots.txt file ( http://www.bebeautifulboutique.com/robots.txt ). If you had one you could put this into it to keep those URLs from being crawled and indexed:
User-Agent: *
Disallow: /?sort=#3 Use a robots noindex meta tag
The following would go on all of the pages with ?sort= in the URL:You could also put a noindex directive in the robots.txt file. This works well, but isn't often used by people because it isn't officially part of the robots.txt protocol, though Google does obey the command.
If you have questions specific to how you should implement them on your CMS (OpenCart) I think the OpenCart help forums would be the best place to go for that information.
PS: This page also uses content that other websites are using. You need to write your own content for every category and product page. Never use the manufacturer or brand description. Always write your own: http://www.bebeautifulboutique.com/Decleor

I have contacted Open Cart but without success!!
The URLs are auto generated but the problem is not the name of the products but the brand name, I can't be make much changes or make them very descriptive, if the problem in question is the name of a specific brand!!
this below are just a few example of 104 High Priority issues I have on my site:
http://www.bebeautifulboutique.com/Noubahttp://www.bebeautifulboutique.com/Decleorhttp://www.bebeautifulboutique.com/Spa-Organicshttp://www.bebeautifulboutique.com/The-Body-Collectionhttp://www.bebeautifulboutique.com/Olivellahttp://www.bebeautifulboutique.com/Elizabeth-ArdenHow can I solve this issue?thanks in advance for any help you can offer me!

You've contacted OpenCart? If your page URLs are auto generated based on the name of the product on that page, you can optimize your the product names, make them very descriptive. Keywords in the URL are have weight in search.

Hi
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, the problem is I have got same content in the meta title and description tag!
How can I avoid that? OpenCart doesn't allow any other different way to describe the title!
thanks

It doesn't only flag duplicate content on the page, but also in your meta tags. You probably have the same content in your meta title and description tags, have you checked for that? I

641 Crawl Errors In My Moz Report - 190 are high priority Duplicate Content
Hi everyone, There are high and medium level errors. I was surprised to see any especially since Google Analytics shows no errors whatsoever.190 errors - duplicate content.A lot of images are showing in the Moz Crawl Report as errors, and when I click on one of these links in the report, it directs to the image which displays on a blog post on the site unusually since I haven't started blogging yet.. So it looks like all those errors are because the images are appearing on their own post.So for example a picture of a mountain would be referred to with www.domain.com/mountains ; the image would be included in the content on a page but why give an image a page/post all of it's own when that was not my intention. Is there a way I can change this?# ----------------------------------------

These are things I first see at the top of the Moz Report: There are 2 similar home urls at the top of the report: http status code is 200 for both (1) and (2) Link Count for (1) is 71. Link count for (2) is 60. No client or server errors Rel Canonical Rel-Canonical Target
Yes http:// domain. co.uk/home
Yes http:// domain. co.uk/home/ Does this mean that the home page is being seen as a duplicate by Google and the search engines?http status codes on every page is 200.Your help would be appreciated.Best Regards,0 -
How to set goal in Google Analytics that required specific page
So our company has new page that has just implemented (let say "page x" --> not a landing page) and we want to see how many visitors that through "page x " convert into the goal (let say "page y"). If I just make the goal destination like "/page y" the goal number that appear is ALL the visitors who reach "page y" (through or not through "page x"), so how I set the goal setting to only show the visitors who reach "page y" through "page x" ? Thank you

Google Analytics Content Experiments
Has anyone else found that Google Analytics Content Experiments seems to quite quickly favor the best performing variant in an experiment, and then show that variant many times more often than other/s - not split the traffic evenly? What is Google's thinking behind 'optimizing' during an experiment? It seems odd to me.

Duplicate content and ways to deal with it.
Problem I queried back a year for the portal and we can see below that the SEO juice is split between the upper and lowercase. You can see the issue in the attached images. http://i.imgur.com/OXnPp.png Solutions: 1) Quick: Change the link on the pages above to be lowercase 2) Use canonical link tag http://www.seomoz.org/blog/canonical-url-tag-the-most-important-advancement-in-seo-practices-since-sitemaps The tag is part of the HTML header on a web page, the same section you'd find the Title attribute and Meta Description tag. In fact, this tag isn't new, but like nofollow, simply uses a new rel parameter. For example: http://www.darden.virginia.edu/MBA" /> ''This would tell Yahoo!, Live & Google that the page in question should be treated as though it were a copy of the URL http://www.darden.virginia.edu/MBA and that all of the link & content metrics the engines apply should technically flow back to that URL.'' 3) See if there is any Google Analytics filters at the site level I can apply. I will check into this and get back to you. What do you all think?????? OXnPp voJdp.png OXnPp.png

Duplicate Content From My Own Site?!
When I ran the SEO Moz report it says that I have a ton of duplicate content. The first one I looked at was my home page. http://www.kisswedding.com/ http://www.kisswedding.com/index.html http://kisswedding.com/index.html All of the above 3 have varying internal links, page authority, and link root domains. Only the first has any external links. All of the others only seem to have 1 other duplicate page. It's a difference between the www and the non-www version. I have a verified acct for www.kisswedding.com in google webmaster tools. The non-www version is in there too but has not been verified. Under settings for the verified account (www.kisswedding.com), "Don't set a preferred domain" is checked off. Is that my mistake. And if so, which should I select? The www version or the non-www version? Thanks!

Will Bing/Google's engine index a page that has only been on social media?
Will Bing's engine index and rank a page that has only been seen on social media and has no inbound links? Will Google's? Are inbound links absolutely required to get a page indexed and ranking and getting traffic? If unknown, how would you go about testing this?
