Need advice on creating link report
-
I am trying to create a new report that will show the effectiveness of each link source in terms of delivering traffic and how quality that traffic is with regard to conversions....
With that, I want to know how I can first get a list of all external links to any page on my subdomain and then align that list with traffic/conversion data in Google Analytics.
Can someone provide me step by step instructions on this?
I assume I would start with Open Site Explorer and export the list of external links to pages on my subdomain. My issue lies in how to get the same general list out of GA that lines up with the urls in the OSE export. I have tried referrals, but that does not give me a compatible list.

Hopefully this will help:
Login to GA and click Acquisition --> All Referrers
This report will show all websites that sent traffic to you in the time period you have set in Analytics.
Click the Ecommerce or Goals tab at the top of the list and it should give you conversion data for your referrers.Just let us know if we've misunderstood what you're looking to achieve.

I would tend to start (and stick with) Google Analytics and export the list of URLs based on conversions. You may need to look up each URL's links separately. An alternative would be to narrow down the list of URLs from Google Analytics and then put them into a spreadsheet where you can write a formula to look up each of them.
In your case, I wouldn't start with OSE's links, I would start with the URLs from Google Analytics that have provided conversions and work the other way.
Also, I'm not sure if I fully understand why you're wanting this data. You can get the list of URLs that sent traffic and conversions to your site via Google Analytics. If a link is not in GA as a referral, then it still may be a great link to have that contributed towards rankings (that lead to conversions). You see, links and mentions might pass on Page Authority and Domain Authority to your site and you won't see the traffic or referrals: but those links allowed your site to be trusted more, leading to better rankings for your site.

Why are Internal Equity-Passing Links so low?
I am looking at "Internal Equity-Passing Links" for my website in the competitor link metrics tab of OSE, and it says that my website only has 7 internal links on the site. I know that I have more internal links that this, so I am wondering why this number is so low. Does anyone know where the discrepancy is coming from? Is the Moz crawler unable to access these? I appreciate any insights you can provide.

Why does OSE show different link equity for homepage with and without trailing slash?
Hi all, I am working with a developer who believes OSE (Open Site Explorer) is flawed. His reasoning is that OSE shows completely different link equity and domain authority for these two URLs [company name is purposely withheld]: http://www.mydomain.com/us/ and http://www.mydomain.com/us NOTE: http://www.mydomain.com/us has been properly 301-redirecting to http://www.mydomain.com/us/ for years. The developer's argument is that the URL that is being 301-redirected shouldn't have any link equity at all, therefore OSE is flawed. Here is the response I would like to give him. Please feel free to poke holes, provide feedback or flat out correct me if I am wrong: Dear inquisitive developer, Any URL that is being linked to by another site that has link equity will get link equity passed to it. This is true even if the URL is a page that doesn't exist. What it can't do (if it doesn't exist) is then pass that link equity on to another page. Moz's OSE is showing separate link equity for the two versions of this URL because other sites have linked to both versions. The fact that one 301-redirects to the other is good and ensures that link equity from one is passing to the preferred URL. The 301-redirect does not, however, remove link equity from the first URL, but rather passes the existing link equity from one to the other. Consequently, Moz's OSE is not flawed, but rather is displaying the link equity of one URL that is benefiting the other via a 301-redirect. Sincerely, Dana

No Internal Links
I have noticed on both OSE and also on the Crawl Test that our site www.advantageservices.net is showing only 1 internal link. I tried looking around as what might cause this but haven't been able to figure it out.

HTTP Status no data to report
In my Moz top pages report, why is there "no data" in the HTTP Status column? Is this an indication of something missing or an error?

Do other sites linking to my page with a low domain authority affect my rankings?
Hello, my page authority 30, I see other page with an authority of 21 for example linking to us. Is this good or bad, does this affect our ranking? A lot of these don't have anchor text, I'm guessing we should reach out to these webmaster to include anchor text with the keywords we want to drive traffic to this page or make as descriptive as possible? Thanks! Laura

Unable to download CSV Report
Hi, I have the email notifying me that my report is ready to download but the link simply opens a blank webpage. If I go to 'Recent CSV Reports' I can see my report listed but if I click the download button nothing happens. Can anyone suggest a solution? Thanks Hugh

Does the inbound links report include links to all pages of the domain being researched?
If I enter 'abc.com' am I only getting results for 'abc.com' or will I get results for the internal pages of 'abc.com' as well (i.e. 'abc.com/page1.html)? There is a bit of a discrepancy between these results and inbound link results in semrush for example. Then again it seems whenever you use different tools to measure the same thing you get wildly varying results. How do you all deal with that?
