Site wide back links
-
Hi,
One of our sites has a site-wide link from another site. So, Google sees 6700 pages from that site link to one of our pages. Is that something to be concerned about? The other site is http://www.daum.net/
We also have 2000 pages that blogspot.com links to us from.
Both these sites have high domain authority, so I would hope all those links score well. But I certainly don't want to be penalized for links that appear spammy.
Thank you in advance.

Not a problem. If that's your only sidebar/footer link, you'll probably be just fine. In regard to any link building in the future, if you would give the site your credit card number without much thought, it's should be okay. If a site looks like a site/page only exists to serve exact match anchor text, that one should be avoided. (Think blog spam and most PHP link directories.)

Thanks again, Travis. Really appreciate that.

Sure, a branded link includes the brand name. 'Bob's Blue Widgets' would be a pure example of branded anchor text if the brand is Bob's Blue Widgets. Whereas 'cheap blue widgets' would be considered a money term/exact match anchor text, and enough of that can get the target site penalized.
Typical blog spam, I'm sure you've seen it. The anchor text will be followed 'money' anchor text. There will be varying topics that run the gamut from Forex Trading to Viagra. One blog may be about Forex, the next may be about a plumber in Tahiti and others could be about casinos - cruises - vacations. That's blog spam in a nutshell.
-
Thanks again, Travis. Can you explain what you mean by "branded" link, and "typical blog spam"?
-
These things always come down to percentages and industries. If the link in question is branded, I might not worry too much for the time being. If the target site has a lot of site wide links, I would be concerned about the next Penguin filter.
Without knowing anything else about the target site, if the statement above checks - odds are your site should be okay for now. Though I would check the Blogspot links for typical blog spam. Again, these things come down to percentages over time.
***Disclaimer: For whoever reads this, never try to game the algo. It will end up biting you. I'm not claiming the OP is gaming or has tried to game the algo. Just don't do it.

Thanks, Travis.
It is a rather large portal in Korea. I think they bought and sold Lycos. These are links from their blogs, similar to blogspot.com.
They are not paid links. They are legit. They put us down as a reference source for one of the blog sections. But, since it is site-wide (or at least this category-wide), we have 6700 links to one page from them. It might look spammy to a bot (their site looks spammy to my eyes), but the links are legit. There is not a "nofollow" on any of the pages, or in the links themselves.
We are happy to have them, except for this SEO conundrum. Similar to blogspot. I think many sites have blogspot with thousands of back links.
Can't see why we would get penalized for this, but you never know.

Without knowing the target site, I guess the biggest question you have to answer is; "Why is a Korean site linking to us sitewide?"
Since my Korean is a little rough, non-existent actually, I can't rely on Google Translate to tell me if this is a followed 'sponsored link'.
Honestly, this looks like a lot of work.

We're looking at providing SEO for a website that has the majority of its incoming links from websites created solely to provide links. Few have bad spam rankings. How worried should I be about those links?
The majority of incoming links to a prospect's website are from website pages apparently created solely to provide links to the website. Few have high spam scores. The sites linking to the main site have versions of blogs with linked text. They seem to be providing positive SEO value now, but I'm concerned they might get noticed and hurt the main site in the future.

Am I better off with ten links from one site or one link from ten sites?
I am writing a series of linked-back articles for a highly-ranked web publisher, but wonder if I'd be better off sharing the articles across different sites. My goal is to grow our domain authority and SEO rankings.

Does an external link to an image file on my site help my SEO?
I found a few websites that are displaying images from my site. Curiously, they have also linked these images to the source image file on my website. I found these because Moz showed these sites in my list of backlinks. I assume that means it impacts my Domain Authority. But does this actually help me in search engines since it's not linking to a page on my site?

Back link from site with DA of 72 to a website domain. Clicking on the link redirects to our website not the attended one.
Hi,
Link Building | | JIMBO16
I've ran a back link check and discovered a good back link to a site which then gets redirected back to my company's website. I have a feeling that an old SEO agency has purchased a small website which has a decent link back from a relevant organisation with a high Domain authority and then redirects the domain to our website to get the link juice. What are your thought on this? Is this really bad practise and possibly damaging? Thanks, Jim0 -
