Pros vs Cons - Navigation/content embedded within javascript
-
My programmer showed me this demo website where all the navigation and content is embedded within javascript: http://sailsjs.org/#!
Google site search returned 51 in results, all pages pretty much unique Title Tags and Meta Descriptions
Bing site search returned 24 results with pretty much identical Title Tags and Meta Descriptions
Matt Cutts said it's fine but to test first: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mibrj2bOFCU
Has anyone seen any reason to avoid this web convention?
My gut is to avoid this approach with the main drawback I see is that websites like this won't do well on search engines other than Google that have less sophisticated algorithms.
thoughts?

Your gut instinct is correct. Yes, it's entirely possible to crawl javascript. Is it still difficult to crawl? As far as I know, yes. So why put up that barrier if you don't have to?

Duplicated content multi language / regional websites
Hi Guys, I know this question has been asked a lot, but I wanted to double check this since I just read a comment of Gianluca Fiorelli (https://moz.com/community/q/can-we-publish-duplicate-content-on-multi-regional-website-blogs) about this topic which made me doubt my research. The case: A Dutch website (.nl) wants a .be version because of conversion reasons. They want to duplicate the Dutch website since they speak Dutch in large parts of both countries. They are willing to implement the following changes: - Href lang tags - Possible a Local Phone number - Possible a Local translation of the menu - Language meta tag (for Bing) Optional they are willing to take the following steps: - Crosslinking every page though a language flag or similar navigation in the header. - Invest in gaining local .be backlinks - Change the server location for both websites so the match there country (Isn't neccessery in my opinion since the ccTLD should make this irrelevant). The content on the website will at least be 95% duplicated. They would like to score with there .be in Belgium and with there .nl in The Netherlands. Are these steps enough to make sure .be gets shown for the quarry’s from Belgium and the .nl for the search quarry’s from the Netherlands? Or would this cause a duplicated content issue resulting in filtering out version? If that’s the case we should use the canonical tag and we can’t rank the .be version of the website. Note: this company is looking for a quick conversion rate win. They won’t invest in rewriting every page and/or blog. The less effort they have to put in this the better (I know it's cursing when talking about SEO). Gaining local backlinks would bring a lot of costs with it for example. I would love to hear from you guys. Best regards, Bob van Biezen

No follow vs do follow the how to
Hi Guys, Sorry if this is an ammature question, just wanted to know I noticed a few people talking about no follows and do follows for backlinks. Is there suppose to be some way to set you website up as nofollow and dofollow for backlinks? I noticed a few people saying to make sure that some directories are nofollow, i would like to know if I can set this up for my own site as I'm a bit conscious and paranoid about others that might backlink to my site who have huge spam or negative seo etc? Any insight into this would be much appreciated Thanks all

Domain Authority... http://www.domain.com/ vs. http://domain.com vs. http://domain.com/
Hey Guys, Looking at Page Authority for my Site and ranking them in Decending Order, I see these 3 http://www.domain.com/ | Authority 62 http://domain.com | Authority 52 http://domain.com/ | Authority 52 Since the first one listed has the highest Authority, should I be using a 301 redirects on the lower ranking variations (which I understand how works) or should I be using rel="canonical" (which I don't really understand how it works) Also, if this is a problem that I should address, should we see a significant boost if fixed? Thanks ahead of time for anyone who can help a lost sailor who doesn't know how to sail and probably shouldn't have left shore in the first place. Cheers ZP!

Opinions on Boilerplate Content
Howdy, Ideally, uniqueness for every page's title, description, and content is desired. But when a site is very, very large, it becomes impossible. I don't believe our site can avoid boilerplate content for title tags or meta-descriptions. We will, however, markup the pages with proper microdata so Google can use this information as they please. What I am curious about is boilerplate content repeated throughout the site for the purpose of helping the user, as well as to tell Google what the page is about (rankings). For instance, this page and this page offer the same type of services, but in different areas. Both pages (and millions of others) offer the exact same paragraph on each page. The information is helpful to the user, but it's definitely duplicate content. All they've changed is the city name. I'm curious, what's making this obvious duplicate content issue okay? The additional unique content throughout (in the form of different businesses), the small, yet obvious differences in on-site content (title tags clearly represent different locations), or just the fact that the site is HUGELY authorative and gets away with it? I'm very curious to hear your opinions on this practice, potential ways to avoid it, and whether or not it's a passable practice for large, but new sites. Thanks!

Transactional vs Informative Search
I have a page that id ranking quiet good (Page1) for the plural of a Keyword but it is just ranking on Page 3 for the Singular Keyword. For more then one Year I am working on Onpage and Offpage optimization to improve ranking for the singular term, without success. Google is treating the two terms almost the same, when you search for term one also term 2 is marked in bold and the results are very similar. The big difference between both terms is in my opinion that one is more for informational search the other one is more for transactional search. Now i would be curious to know which factors could Google use to understand weather a search and a website is more transactional or informative? Apart of mentioning: Buy now, Shop, Buy now, Shop, Special offer etc. Any Ideas?

My website keywords have been almost completely taken out of indexing in Google since 04/26/11 and I cannot determine why, anyone know?
I had 12 to 15 1st page Google rankings in the iPhone, iPad, app review vertical. As of 04/26/11 I have lost all rankings, traffic has gone from 1,000 to 1,200 a day to 150 to 350 a day. I was using a plugin for auto press releases, but have removed this and deleted the urls. I also have changed themes and hosting over the last 3 weeks. I have been trying to get SEO help, but cannot seem to get anyone to help me. thank you Mike
