Difference in incoming links between web masters tool and moz
-
Why are incoming links to my site in Google Webmasters tools totally different then in MOZ? Which is correct? According to Google as of this week I have hundreds of links coming from linkarena (dot) com (Never heard) Does any one know who they are or if they are hurting me? I definitely did not pay them to put me on there. It looks like a German site. Thank you.

Hello -- just found this thread when looking for the answer to my question... I had a similar one.
On my campaign, Open Site Explorer is showing only 11 incoming links to my client's website (grilloorientalrugs.com)... Webmaster Tools shows 700! I went through WT's links, and sure enough, they are out there -- on sites like yellowpages.com, which OSE didn't even show as a result.
I understand the difference in crawling breadth and frequency. But is it really true that Open Site Explorer is only picking up on a mere 1.6% of the total links? Someone tell me why it's a useful tool, if that is the case?
And yes, I did verify that I hadn't excluded any of the links in OSE, and that I was looking at the whole root domain.
Thanks for any feedback anyone can provide here.

Thank you for the answer. I was hoping that with paying for subscription with MOZ I would get all of them or at least most of them so I would not have to do the extra steps. Your answer makes a lot of sense. I will continue looking at all of them. Thank you for prompt response.

Omakad, Google's list of links in Webmaster Tools is different than what you're going to see in Moz because these are separate companies. They both have their own crawlers and crawl websites differently. Moz doesn't crawl as often or as quickly as Google does.
Google has, on purpose, decided to not give us all of the links that they know about, mainly because they don't want us to reverse engineer their algorithm. There are actually other tools that will show you links to a website, including MajesticSEO.com and ahrefs.com. What I recommend is that you go to several link sources, including Google, Moz, Majestic SEO, and ahrefs, and get all the links--and then put them into one big list and remove the duplicates. That will give you a better picture of the links that are pointing to your website.

Tracking Mailto Links Through Event Tracking
Hi I am trying to get event tracking working on some mailto links on a website using Universal Analytics. I've read various resources as nothing seems to mention mailto links. Does it not work on tracking outbound clicks on emails? Thanks in advance.

Why do I have differences in my User Flow Report?
On the user flow report I am showing a first interaction of /category as my second highest starting page. If I click group details it shows some of my different categories. However, at the bottom of the user flow report it has some of the category pages out as individual categories. Why is this? And how do I force it to show all category pages together like it does with my /item pages?

Webmaster tools crawl errors
Hi there, iv been tracking my webmaster tools crawl errors for a while now(6 months) and im noticing some pages that are far gone 404 are still poping out on the crawl errors. - that pages have no data for xml linking, and remote linking are from pages that are far gone 404 also. that pages have 404 error page + redirect to homepage, and google still notice them with old cache content. does someone have a clue why is this happening?

Any thoughts on why Nextag and MonsterMarketPlace are linking to our site?
I'm looking in WMT at the crawl errors and I noticed that our website has gotten a lot of Not Found crawl errors that seem strange. A lot of these not found pages are Display URLs that I use in PPC advertising, but not actual redirects (i.e. explorica.com/EducationalTrips). When I looked at how these links were being found, the inbound links were coming from Nextag.com and monstermarketplace.com, two sites that our company has never had a relationship with. We're an educational travel company, so we'd have no reason to. When I followed the links, it looks like it's coming from their "Sponsored Links," but these aren't Google or Bing Ads. We don't even advertise on the content network. Example link: http://www.monstermarketplace.com/starters-and-alternators/alternator-motorola-style-12v-51a-10376 (the ads do rotate so my site might not appear when you check it out). Anyone ever had experience with this type of issue?

Differences in keyword rankings in Google and Bing and Yahoo
Hi there, We have some keywords that are ranked so far apart on the search engines its puzzling. For example we have keywords ranked at say 10, 9, 7 etc on Google, not in top 50 on Bing or Yahoo. Stuff like that. Surely the algorithms can’t be that far apart? Is this indeed normal? Does anyone have the same issues? Thanks
