Press Release, yay or nay?
-
Hi guys,
I've got an ecommerce client who has asked if we should generate a press release when they add a new range of products/add a new brand?
Is this a good idea?
Do we just publish it on their blog or do we send it our to PR websites to distribute with links back to the site.
I don't want it to be spammy, just announcing a new brand. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Does the client have a PR team or anyone that reaches out to writers when there is a story like a new product or brand? If not, that needs to happen first. Hire or contract PR help, best with someone that already has contacts that you can benefit from.
When you have that, then yes, press releases are helpful to get the word out about a new product or brand. But don't rely on the press release itself to bring recognition, stories, or anything else. Press releases like any other piece of content needs to be promoted to the wider audience.
On the technical side, press releases should not be used for link building. A well executed press release along with the right promotion will bring links, but not from the release itself.

YAY! Chirs hit the nail on the head. Also we as Online Marketing people forget sometimes that we are not the only channel in a marketing portfolio. PR done right is a big win all by its self, even if it doesn't help with your rankings. (But do remember the nofollow that way we can make sure it doesn't hurt your rankings.)

YAY
Press releases are fine but what Google likes is nofollow links on them. The reason they can be helpful is they can let people in a niche know about your awesome brand/product and can leave to people visiting you via the link (which is no follow don't forget!). The how to do a press release is a bit more than I'm willing to type here but i'm sure there are some great guides out there on how to make a great press release.
It's best to remember the who what why & when type jazz on a press release.
Good luck!

Links from PRWeb press release violate Google's quality guidelines?
My site has had a manual action performed on it by Google indicating that I have inbound links that fall outside of their quality guidelines. I did my own research, found what I thought was the issue, had the links removed and requested reconsideration. Google's response surprised me in that they highlighted two specific pages with links that were the direct result of valid press releases and a publisher picking up our release off a wire service. Has anyone else seen this occur? Anyone had a case successfully reconsidered? I realize that I don't need to do anything at all as the manual action is in effect and will stay that way, discounting those links, but I would rather a) not have any manual action against my site and b) know for the future so this doesn't happen again. Also, is this applicable for guest blog posts, which effectively create the same type of backlinks? Thanks

Press Release Sites
Has anyone ever used macreportmedia.com for press releases? I normally use PR Web. This new company contacted me and it sounds pretty good, but I don't really trust anything without reviews, and I can't seem to find any out there. Has anyone had any luck with these guys? If not, can you suggest anything other than PR Web that you've had success with? I'm really looking for the SEO benefits of the releases more than the publicity.

Press Release Sites
I don't do that many press releases, but I need to do one soon. I had been using PRweb.com and I see they raised their prices. Are they considered the best online PR site or are there sites people have used that have gotten similar results for less money?? Thanks

Press Releases Weekly
Hello, I know this has been answered in the past but we have been doing press releases multiple times per week, and have been getting Great referrals, at the same time our link count is climbing. Can this have a negative effect on the overall site? Should we be doing these less often? Thanks very much!!!

Guest blogging company - yay or nay?
I'm considering working with a guest blogging company. The quality of the writing seems to be decent / not spammy. The types of sites they're guest blogging on are... http://theblogabouteverything.com/ http://globalgoodgroup.com/ I know these are fairly generic blogs. Is there any chance of a manipulative link penalty with these types of sites? Thanks!

To Press Release (or not)?
Hey Mozzers, Our company designs, develops, and manufactures products for a living. Last year we came up with an idea of our own, designed, developed, tooled and produced it all on our own dime. We did all the branding, website, EVERYTHING on our own. The product looks like it's going to be pretty successful. We are now planning on opening our web store tomorrow and expect to be selling and shipping product tomorrow. The product is an iPhone accessory that basically turns your iPhone into a wearable POV camera similar to GoPro. Check it out at http://miveu.com. I'm wondering if we should actually do a press release about the opening of our web store. I only say this because it seems like a natural thing to do at the moment. That said, it sounds like it could actually hurt us. If this is a good idea, what's the best channel. Doesn't need to be the cheapest channel, but one that will spread the word. I guess the real question is, "how can we drive traffic to our site?" over the next few days. Please don't bash me after looking at our site. While the site looks great IMO, we have done ZERO SEO work to this site. This includes even the most basic novice work, like titles and descriptions. To this point, we have focused all our efforts on getting the product to market, getting the website running, getting the store ready, etc. I do plan on doing some SEO work soon or maybe even hiring and agency to do it. For now, we just need to get selling. 🙂 BTW,,, we have gotten some pretty good exposure by exhibiting at CES and have won several awards. Our reputation is extremely important to us and we don't want to do anything that could tarnish our reputation, now or in the future. I look forward to all your thoughts and feedback. Cheers!

Press Release- Is it worth it?
I have seen a lot of Press Releases used to generate links. Is this a tactic that is worth it? If so what are the best sites to use for the PR? Any suggestions or examples? I am more than willing to do PRs; i just want to be able to focus my effort on things that will have a return. Thanks!!

Where/should I post my press release/articles on my own website?
I have started a long-term article marketing campaign and press release distribution. I will have about 4 articles and press releases in total every month. Although the press releases will not be self-promotional, sometimes they will be talking about a certain product that we unveil. The question is, due to the high quality of these press releases, should I put them on my website as well as publish them on third party websites? If so, because they target a specific service/product which we already have a dedicated page on our website, wouldn't that put Google in the position of choosing between the two pages? I was thinking to put them on my blog and link internally from there with the keywords that I target on those pages as anchor text. The same question for articles. Any suggestions?
