Does anyone use Genesis Framework? If so can a newbie use it and a few other questions
-
Hi,
So as I search the wonderful land of the internet, I see this Genesis framework brought up quite a bit.
I have researched it for a few weeks, but it seems like it uses hooks instead of shortcodes.
So I am curious if anyone has used it? And if so what your thoughts are about it?
I am a COMPLETE newbie here, so hooks look scary. I am sure with time they will seem like second nature.
They claim it has airtight security. So if you have used this framework, how is this any different than an updated stock wordpress site?
I understand that vulnerabilities may be in plugins and such, but if it is really airtight, that seems great.
Any thoughts are appreciated as I just want the best user experience. So many people use this framework, yet my site gets if I'm lucky 1000 views each month. It is a basic site to let people know we exist. So its not like I have a popular blog with 50,000 pageviews each month.
But... going into the future, I want a pleasant and consistent user experience. Maybe a wordpress theme is all you need. Maybe a framework is more for developers.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

It's actually a pretty sweet framework, easy to use and their child themes are great. I dropped Thesis back then because of Genesis.
Don't worry about hooks, just use basic hooks for now (they have a plugin) until you learn in time, they also have great tutorials.
Best thing about a widely used framework is that most plugins are compatible plus a lot of people write tutorials about how they fixed up their own sites.
Security wise, I haven't had trouble with it. As long as your server is tight and the plugins are properly configured, you shouldn't be worried too much.

Question about Homepage Title
Hi there, I recently made a change to the title URL for my site, and it changed how Google displayed my sitemap. Before it showed the most common sites, and now it simply links to 4 of them below the domain URL without descriptions. I have attached images below which shows my problem. I hope this is the right section for this question. Thanks! 5ypdnY2 4u2HAia

Keyword Stuffing Question
Say your on a e-commerce category page "Shirts" every lower level category has "shirts" in it such as: T-shirt, long sleeve shirt, sweat shirt, v-neck shirt, and so on. Is this page going to be penalized in google for the keyword "shirts" just because it is in the title and on the page a thousand times because i'm targetting words like "long sleeve shirt? and if it is, will the "long sleeve shirt" keyword be negatively affected as well? Answer much appreciated,

Can lazy loading of images affect indexing?
I am trying to diagnose a massive drop in Google rankings for my website and noticed that the date of the ranking and traffic drop coincides with Google suddenly only indexing about 10% of my images, whereas previously it was indexing about 95% of them. Wondering if addition of lazy load script to images (so they don't load from the server until visible in the browser) could cause this index blocking?

Does anyone know of an api for on site SEO?
I have searched for one, but really cannot find one that fits my needs. I am looking at making an on site grader / service that will check pages and point out SEO problems. One that I have found that I like is seorch.eu but they do not have an api. I do not want to reinvent the wheel if I do not have to. Also, the api does not have to be free, or it does not even have to be an api, it can be a self hosted application too.

Using Robots Meta Tag on Review Form Pages
I have gone over this so many times and I just can't seem to get it straight and hope someone can help me out with a couple of questions: Right now, on my dynamically created pages created by filters (located on the category pages) I am using rel""canonical" to point them to their respective category page. Should I also use the robots meta tag as well? Similarly, each product I have on my site has a review form on it and thus is getting indexed by Google. I have placed the same canonical tag on them as well pointing them to the page with the review form on it. In the past I used robots.txt to block google from the review pages but this didn't really do much. Should I be using the robots meta tag on these pages as well? If I used the robots meta tag should I noindex, nofollow? Thanks in advance, Jake

Time on Site vs Bounce Rate Question
If you follow my questions here on SEOMoz, you know that we have quite a few issues with a particular site. http://bit.ly/RE8V2a Our bounce rate was over 85% for quite some time. We changed the site template and the Bounce Rate has dropped to around 5%, but the Time on Site has dropped dramatically. We were just over two minutes, now we're averaging 1:34. But here's the thing, time spent on the Home Page is averaging 24 seconds! What would you take away from this? Thanks so much!

Link juice question
In theory: If i have a page with only two outgoing, do-follow links,
On-Page Optimization | | elgoog
and both have the same target,
only the first one will be counted.. right? Will that link pass 100% or 50% of the link juice? (if the anchor text is the same or different does not make any difference i think)0
