Setting up Goal by Event.
-
Hi guys,
I've need to set gup goal to track Banner Views and Clicks on my website based on the Event. I've set up the Event like this:
| |
Anh the page is http://www.danhgiaxe.com/so-sanh/
When I se the event on goal I filled like below:
Category/Equal to/quangcaoBIG
Action/Regular expression/bannerID_\d
Label/Equal to/view
I do the same for tracking Click. But when verifying, the conversion is 0%. Anyone help me please!
Tks a lot!

Hi Quang, I was looking at the actual page and the event is firing, see the screenshot here: http://screencast.com/t/LrWJzTmpt
I'm not sure what's going on but it's strange that you can't even get the event label to fire on it's own - that rules out anything wrong with the regex.
So when you go into the events report, are there events being logged?
-
Here is the screen shot. And I've tried firing the label view but it's still 0%

Hi Quang, can you share a screenshot of the segment you're trying to create, that way I can see the regex. Also as Sajeet said you'll need to use on click to track people clicking the banners not just viewing.
I'd start trying to debug by simplifying the report. What happens if you just try to see how many times the event label 'view' has been fired? Does that still show as 0%?

Event which the View tracking it doesn't work. I've tried changing the regex as above but the conversion's still been the same.

There are two issues with your tracking -
- The code is correct for tracking views to the banner, however its not correct if you want to track the clicks. For clicks, you will have to add onClick function.
- The regex is incorrect. The correct regex is bannerID(.*). Suggest you use regexpal.com to test your regular expressions.
Hope this helps.

Google Analytics goals only show unique event triggers
I have some goals in GA which is linked to different event triggers. However I've found out that the goal is only showing the unique event triggers and not the total. I need it to show the total in order to be accurate. Is there any way to switch that option? I can't find any options like that in GA or guides to do so.

Clarification on Analytics Goals & Funnel Logic
I have a few questions about funnel flow and how my goals are tracked. 1. My goal is a user completing a contact form, form.html. Upon completion, user is redirected to thanks.html, ending the flow. Every page header contains a direct link to form.html. Does this mean every page on my site is considered a "step" leading the user to the contact form? If so, do I list each page containing the form link in the steps, or only form.html? 2. If the above isn't correct, how do I track how the user wound up completing my form. I'd love to know which pages are performing better and leading to more sign-ups (goal completions). Currently I think I'd only be setup to know when a user is on the form.html page and whether they complete it or leave, not how they got to form.html in the first place. 3. My .html pages are actually embedded via iFrame on WordPress pages. My form.html page is hosted on .com/quote and upon completion, form.html redirects to thanks.html within the iFrame (.com/quote remains the actual page). I'd assume this is going to throw off my stats since the physical .html pages don't have Analytics code embedded? 4. How would I track different CTAs on the same page which lead to the same goal? For example, header vs. footer CTA's to the same sign-up sheet. Let me know if you need anything clarified. Thanks a lot for the help.

Can't identify the real source of a goal because subdomains in GA
Hello, I have one domain for my website (www.domain.com) where I receive all the new traffic and a subdomain (billing.domain.com) for the billing system. Im tracking both in Analytics. I have a goal (new order) configured in the subdomain -billing system-. But when I want to track the source / medium of the goals (new orders) in billing.domain.com, always appears my main website (www.domain.com) as the referral. Now I added in Analytics: Admin > Property > Referral Exclusion List, the www.domain.com and domain.com. Do you think that now I can track the real referrer of the goals? Or should I do a more complex tracking setup with Tag Manager ( https://support.google.com/tagmanager/answer/6106951 ) to pass the session cookies from a subdomain to another one, just to identify the real source / medium of the visitor? Thank you 🙂

Why is Google Analytics reporting 20% fewer goals than Unique pageviews of same thank you page?
This is really puzzling me and my research has not thrown out the answer. I have always understood URL goals to be unique pageviews of the thank you page you are tracking. UPVs and goals should both only be counted once per session... Has anyone else seen this issue? Goals were not set up historically so I wanted to use unique pageviews of the thank you page for year on year comparisons, but 20% is a big difference! Background There are multiple pages to track so goal is set up using Regex There is no mistake in the goal set up (honest!) The goal URLs all match the unique pageview URLs, there are no rogue URLs There has been no change to the site or the tracking set up Data is not being sampled It's a lead gen site in an area where multiple enquiries within one visit would be very unusual Thanks in advance!

Set up Google Analytics by product category
Does anyone know if it's possible to set up Google Analytics data by product category? We sell roughly twenty product categories on our ecommerce site. We can look at our analytics performance for the site overall and drill down to specific pages, but what we really want to see is our performance by product category. Our product categories can include up to 5000 products. Any pointers on how to do this?
