Wordpress site, MOZ showing missing meta description but pages do not exist on backend
-
I've got a wordpress website (a client) and MOZ keeps showing missing meta descriptions. When I look at the pages these are nonsense pages, they do exist somewhere but I am not seeing them on the backend. Questions: 1) how do I fix this? Maybe it's a rel con issue?
- why is this referring to "non-sense" pages? When I go to the page there is nothing on it except maybe an image or the headline, it's very strange.
Any input out there I greatly appreciate.
Thank you

What kind of CMS do you use? That might help figure it out.
Sounds like your CMS is creating these garbage pages, whether or not they live on the backend or not.
On the other hand, this is pretty common and it may not be something you need to worry about. Are the pages cached by Google? You can find out by pasting this search parameter in your browser:
cache:http://example.com/url
or a site: search for an overview of all your cached URLs. (site:example.com)
If the garbage URLs aren't there, you probably don't need to worry much. On the other hand if you see pages of bad results, this might be something you need to address with your developer.

you wont find pages on the back end, pages are on the front end,
Can you give us same sample links, thanks

The example of few URLs would help but let me tell you something pretty straight! If the URL is giving a 200 header status that means the URL is there and Moz tool will cover it and show it in the report.
If you think these are “sense-less” pages why not 404 them or redirect them to pages that make some sense! #justanidea
Hope this helps!

Hi Wendy
It's because those pages are there. You can have those deleted if you dont need them. They are possibly separate HTML files so if you are using a CMS, they won't show there.
Just to be sure, you could show us an example page and we can let you know.

Wordpress pages posts
Say you have a WordPress website with reviews and lists. Would you use "post" or "page" type for them? Is there any SEO advantage in using pages/subpages instead of posts?

Not sure how we're blocking homepage in robots.txt; meta description not shown
Hi folks! We had a question come in from a client who needs assistance with their robots.txt file. Metadata for their homepage and select other pages isn't appearing in SERPs. Instead they get the usual message "A description for this result is not available because of this site's robots.txt – learn more". At first glance, we're not seeing the homepage or these other pages as being blocked by their robots.txt file: http://www.t2tea.com/robots.txt. Does anyone see what we can't? Any thoughts are massively appreciated! P.S. They used wildcards to ensure the rules were applied for all locale subdirectories, e.g. /en/au/, /en/us/, etc.

HTML 5 sites, segmentation and Meta data?
Hello Mozers, I am currently building an HTML 5 site. I've run into a couple of issues. While implmenting segmentation in each of my mian menu iten, I am able to pluggin Meta data only for one segement (or the page). I am unable to inser Meta data for each of the segments. For example: I have (main menu) Services ----> Submenu (teaching, upgrading, Dancing) I can implement meta data for the Services but not for teaching, upgrading and Dancing as they are segment in the same page. Whats the best logic to get around this

Why are our sites top landing pages URL's that no longer exist and retrun 404 errors?
Digging through analytics today an noticed that our sites top landing pages are for pages that were part of the old www.towelsrus.co.uk website taken down almost 12 months ago. All these pages had the 301 re-directs which were removed a few months back but still have not dropped out of Googles crawl error logs. I can't understand why this is happening but almost certainly the bounce rate on these pages (100%) mean we are loosing potential conversions. How can I identify what keywords and links people are using to land on these pages?

To land page or not to land page
Hey all, I wish to increase my sites rankings on a variety of keywords within sub categories but I'm unsure where to be spending the time in SEO. Here's an example of the website page structure: General Home Page > Sub Category 1 Home Page
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | DPSSeomonkey
> Searching / Results pages
- Sub Category 1
- Sub Category 2
- Sub Category 3
- Sub Category 4 > Sub Category 2 Home Page
> Searching / Results pages
- Sub Category 1
- Sub Category 2
- Sub Category 3
- Sub Category 4 We've newly introduced the Sub Category Home Pages and I was wondering if SEO is best performed on these pages or should landing pages be built, one for each of the 4 sub categories in each section. Those landing pages would have links to the "Searching / Results pages" for that sub category. Thanks!0
