TLDs vs ccTLDs?
-
*Was trying to get this question answered in another thread but someone marked it as "answered" and no more responses came.
So the question is about best practices on TLDs vs ccTLDs. I have a .com TLD that has DA 39 which redirects to the localized ccTLDs .co.id and .com.sg that have DA 17. All link building has been done for the .com TLD. In terms of content, it sometimes overlaps as the same content shows up on both the ccTLDs.
What is best practices here? It doesnt look like my ccTLDs are getting any juice from the TLD. Should I just take my ccTLDs and combine them into my TLD in subdomains? Will I see any benefits?
Thanks

Thanks, Jane, that's a much better answer/example!

Hi again,
Sorry it has taken a few days to get back to you. I replied in the other thread about ccTLDs versus using one site. Some additional info: in general, you will have an easier time using the subfolder structure recommended in the other question (again, as long as there are no factors which make it important to have country-specific domains). The Singapore / Indonesian sections of the website will naturally inherit authority because they sit on the strong .com. Just being linked to by the .com isn't enough to give them such a large boost.
Apple uses this strategy for internationalisation: http://www.apple.com/uk/ for the UK, http://www.apple.com/nz/ for New Zealand, http://www.apple.com/sg/ for Singapore and so forth.
On the other hand, BlackBerry uses subdomains: http://uk.blackberry.com/ and http://sg.blackberry.com/.
Amazon obviously uses ccTLDs.
All of these domains are hellishly strong in their own rights; traditionally it has been thought of as best to use one site like Apple does if you are no a mammoth already. However, you can make other options work with good link development. I think in your case, one domain is something to seriously consider.

Single Folder vs Root
I'm working on a multi-state attorney website and I'm going back and forth on URL's. I thought I'd see what the community thinks. lawsite.com/los-angeles/car-accident-lawyer vs. lawsite.com/los-angeles-car-accident-lawyer I should note this site will have over a dozen city locations, with different practices.

More internal links pointing to internal page vs homepage
I was looking at our GSC internal links section and I saw that we have 901 internal links going to our compare rates form and 890 going to our homepage. At the end of most of our content I add a call to action to our compare rates form. Is this SEO friendly or should I have more pointing to the homepage and less pointing to our compare rates page?

P.O Box VS. Actual Address
We have a website (http://www.delivertech.ca) that uses a P.O Box number versus an actual address as their "location". Does this affect SEO? Is it better to use an actual address? Thanks.

International Image SEO - one host vs multiple hosts
I've got 3 sites (same name) located in Australia, US and UK. Currently these sites are all pulling images (I own) from 1 location. I'd like to create image XML sitemaps for each of these sites. As I see it, my options are: 1. Keeping the images hosted in the 1 place and creating image XML sitemaps for each of the 3 sites (which seems to be technically ok because https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/178636?hl=en&ref_topic=20986 states that if the image URL isn't on the same domain, both domains need to be verified in Webmaster Tools). However, is there a risk here that the sitemaps will conflict because they are pulling from images on the same host? 2. Hosting the images locally (ie. the same images will be hosted in 3 locations) and applying hreflang in the sitemap. Does anyone know which of these options are best (obviously #1 would be more convenient), or whether there are any other options for attacking this issue? Thanks!

Site wide footer links vs. single link for websites we design
I’ve been running a web design business for the past 5 years, 90% or more of the websites we build have a “web design by” link in the footer which links back to us using just our brand name or the full “web design by brand name” anchor text. I’m fully aware that site-wide footer links arent doing me much good in terms of SEO, but what Im curious to know is could they be hurting me? More specifically I’m wondering if I should do anything about the existing links or change my ways for all new projects, currently we’re still rolling them out with the site-wide footer links. I know that all other things being equal (1 link from 10 domains > 10 links from 1 domain) but is (1 link from 10 domains > 100 links from 10 domains)? I’ve got a lot of branded anchor text, which balances out my exact match and partial match keyword anchors from other link building nicely. Another thing to consider is that we host many of our clients which means there are quite a few on the same server with a shared IP. Should I? 1.) Go back into as many of the sites as I can and remove the link from all pages except the home page or a decent PA sub page- keeping a single link from the domain. 2.) Leave all the old stuff alone but start using the single link method on new sites. 3.) Scratch the site credit and just insert an exact-match anchor link in the body of the home page and hide with with CSS like my top competitor seems to be doing quite successfully. (kidding of course.... but my competitor really is doing this.)

Flat vs. subdomain web structure
I am building a site which sells a product in 50 states and in each state we will have independt partners. From an SEO perspective, what are the tradeoffs in using a single domain vs. having each state a subdomain? Each state also has varying regulatory issues that are specific to that state.

Duplicate content - canonical vs link to original and Flash duplication
Here's the situation for the website in question: The company produces printed publications which go online as a page turning Flash version, and as a separate HTML version. To complicate matters, some of the articles from the publications get added to a separate news section of the website. We want to promote the news section of the site over the publications section. If we were to forget the Flash version completely, would you: a) add a canonical in the publication version pointing to the version in the news section? b) add a link in the footer of the publication version pointing to the version in the news section? c) both of the above? d) something else? What if we add the Flash version into the mix? As Flash still isn't as crawlable as HTML should we noindex them? Is HTML content duplicated in Flash as big an issue as HTML to HTML duplication?
