Google lists eBay.au number one for vertical garden and their sellers are using my IMAGES
-
Is there anyway of getting Google to slap eBay with a loss of page rank ? eBay.au has number one position for vertical garden in google.com.au. (search 9000). Fair enough I suppose because they are delivering a huge range of vertical garden products BUT the sellers are using images for their products that are not showing their products. Most of the sellers are flogging China copies - and I mean these are really bad copies.
But what angers me even more is some of their top sellers are using MY IMAGES. They have taken my images used on a UK website and have reused them in AUstralia. Sellers have even rebranded my images. GRRRRR
Is there some international sin bin where I can name and shame? Does Google care about such matters?

Hi Felicity,
Unfortunately this won't be something Google would consider grounds for reducing Ebay's ranking for this keyword / these items (duplication of images, including both theft and legitimate re-purposing) is absolutely rampant online so duplicate images aren't easy to police and in most cases, it doesn't make sense to do so. Have you tried reporting the listings to Ebay Australia? Have a look here - http://ocsnext.ebay.com.au/ocs/sr?search=1&query=1732&popularTool=true&st=0&popularToolName=Report%20an%20item
Especially if the items are knock-offs or not really what they purport to be, Ebay might take some action on the listings or sellers. I would think that is your best bet.
Cheers,
Jane

Google crawl drop
the crawl request of my company site: https://www.dhgate.com/ has dropped nearly over 95%, from daily 6463599 requests to 476493 requests at 12:00am on 9th, Oct (GMT+8). This dramatic dropping trend not only showed in our GSC crawl stats report but also our company's own log report. We have no idea what’s going on. We want to know whether there is an update of google about crawlling, or is this the issue of our own site? If something is wrong with our site, in what aspects would you recommend us to check, analyze and accordingly optimize?

Google image search filter tabs and how to rank on them
I have noticed Google image search has included suggestion tabs (e.g,. design, nature... when searching background) on the top of the image search.

Are there specific meta tags I can add into my images so that my images will show up on each tab?
Do those filters just show content based on image keywords or something else? IRme7gQ0 -
Google not using redirect
We have a GEO-IP redirect in place for our domain, so that users are pointed to the subfolder relevant for their region, e.g: Visit example.com from the UK and you will be redirected to example.com/uk This works fine when you manually type the domain into your browser, however if you search for the site and come to example.com, you end up at example.com I didn't think this was too much of an issue but our subfolders /uk and /au are not getting ranked at all in Google, even for branded keywords. I'm wondering if the fact that Google isn't picking up the redirect means that the pages aren't being indexed properly? Conversely our US region (example.com/us) is being ranked well. Has anyone encountered a similar issue?

How to optimize for different google seach center (google.de, google.ch) ?
We all use Deutsch language and (.com) domains for the sites. I ranked well in google.com ,but not so well in google.de , google.ch , my competitors ranked much better in google.de,google.ch. NoIndex/NoFollow pages showing up when doing a Google search using "Site:" parameter
We recently launched a beta version of our new website in a subdomain of our existing site. The existing site is www.fonts.com with the beta living at new.fonts.com. We do not want Google to crawl the new site until it's out of beta so we have added the following on all pages: However, one of our team members noticed that google is displaying results from new.fonts.com when doing an "site:new.fonts.com" search (see attached screenshot). Is it possible that Google is indexing the content despite the noindex, nofollow tags? We have double checked the syntax and it seems correct except the trailing "/". I know Google still crawls noindexed pages, however, the fact that they're showing up in search results using the site search syntax is unsettling. Any thoughts would be appreciated! DyWRP.png

Sitemaps for Google
In Google Webmaster Central, if a URL is reported in your site map as 404 (Not found), I'm assuming Google will automatically clean it up and that the next time we generate a sitemap, it won't include the 404 URL. Is this true? Do we need to comb through our sitemap files and remove the 404 pages Google finds, our will it "automagically" be cleaned up by Google's next crawl of our site?
