Should I disavow this Link?
-
I am trying to clean up my link profile to get rid of a partial penalty and am not sure to do with one of the links to my site http://www.seoco.co.uk
The link is 100% organic and has come from a foreign language site that published an infographic that I did:
The thing is that in the link to my homepage they have used the anchor text SEO as opposed to my company name.
I have already sent them an email and asked them to change the anchor text but they haven't responded so I am guessing they probably wouldn't respond to a removal request either.
Should I disavow it?
-
OK guys, that's good enough for me, will not be disavowing. Thankyou to all of you for your help.

Yes to the above... don't throw the baby out with the bath water. Also, given your name is ("the seo company") is keyword rich, at first glance I'm not sure how spammy your link profile really is anchor text-wise. I agree with Highland that disavow is really a 12 lb hammer and really only saved for special occasions.
Good luck! Best... Mike

I have two general rules of thumb on disavow
- Disavow is for unnatural link patterns, not unnatural links
- Don't disavow first and ask questions later. Disavow is a flame thrower and while they can help you set things on fire, they are a terrible way to weed a garden.
It sounds like your problem is not the link but the fear that the link is going to be seen as unnatural and might draw a penalty. If it's seen as unnatural it will likely be devalued. That's it. One link won't kill you. If anything, it might hurt the blog its on. Unless it's clear cut, leave it alone.

I agree with David. It's natural and not spammy. Also, the infographic is great and is doing what its supposed to do!
-
Hi Robert, thanks for the response, the link was not paid for and it does look like a good site to me, it has a Good PageRank and lots of Facebook followers.
Anyone disagree?
-
Hi David,
Personally I wouldn't. It's a editorial link given without any influence from you I assume? It wasn't paid for? If it's a natural link why remove it? Is the site spammy at all?
My view is only remove links that are spammy or unnatural.
Robert

Hi everybody! I have a very serius question because i have a problem with this. We run a website of voucher codes and we are looking that our rivals are putting their logos on footers of online stores with images, sometimes link to home, sometimes link to store within webpage. Should i ask for the same to online stores? I have scary to get a penalty by Google. Please help me with this and recommend me something because we are doing fair play but rivals are doing this and they get best results in SERPS. Thanks very much! Best regards!

Do sitewide links from other sites hurt SEO?
A friend of mine has a pagerank 3 website that links to all my pages on my site on every page of his site. The anchor text of all these links are the title of each page that it links to. Does this hurt SEO? I can have him change to the links to whatever i want, so if it does hurt, what should i change the anchor text to if needed? Thanks mozzers! Ron

Would you get link from this blog?
I have an opportunity to place a guest blog on a site. The site has the following metrics: DA/PA: 24/36 Inbound links: 3K+ from 16 root domains Here is what makes me uneasy: The number of links from the same domain, suggesting sitewide or footer links When I look at the backlinks, there are links from sites like http://best-american-law-firms.info/, or http://www.luvbuds.info/. They sare blogroll links that are likely paid for. Would you get a link from this blog?

Methods for getting links to my site indexed?
What are the best practices for getting links to my site indexed in search engines. We have been creating content and acquiring backlinks for the last few months. They are not being found in the back link checkers or in the Open Site Explorer. What are the tricks of the trade for imporiving the time and indexing of these links? I have read about some RSS methods using wordpress sites but that seems a little shady and i am sure google is looking for that now. Look forward to your advice.

Thought on optimising the perfect keyword location link
My site works a bit like a directory, so say I have a page called "Ice Cream Vendors" - on that page I would talk a bit about Ice Cream Vendors, then I will have a list of Ice Cream Vendor Locations. My list of locations can be quite big depending on the product and the amount of locations they occur in - when you click a location, it goes to a page showing all "ICeCream Vendors" in that location. So Currently I will have a table on the page a bit like this: ICE CREAM VENDOR LOCATIONS
White Hat / Black Hat SEO | | James77
New York
Miami
Las Vegas This is all perfectly nice, simple and usable - BUT it is not producing perfect keyword links - for perfect keyword links the list should be like this: ICE CREAM VENDOR LOCATIONS
New York Ice Cream Vendors
Miami Ice Cream Vendors
Las Vegas Ice Cream Vendors Now I have my perfect anchor links - BUT it looks rediculous and is NOT user friendly. So What do I do?
1/. Build it for users and not have perfect anchor links, and loose in SEO?
2/. Build a perfect SEO links and make it less usable and looking spammy? OR 3/. Deliver the search engine the perfect SEO links, and the user the userfriendly version? In this I mean I could do the following:
SE's (and screen readers I think would see):
ICE CREAM VENDOR LOCATIONS
New York Ice Cream Vendors
Miami Ice Cream Vendors
Las Vegas Ice Cream Vendors Users would See
ICE CREAM VENDOR LOCATIONS
New York
Miami
Las Vegas Now in my view I am doing nothing wrong - I am mearly giving the user the most userfriendly version and I am giving the SE more information on the link, that the user doesn't need. So - In my view I am doing something that is honest - but what are your thoughts?? Has anyone tried to do this? Thanks0
