Website not properly listed on google organic despite SEO efforts
-
Hello,
I have worked thoroughly on my website tags including HTML titles, URLs, H1 headers and text on each section. The problem is that despite this effort, my website does not seem to improve in terms of ranking (the onsite optimization has been done 6 months ago already).
We have a sitemap, we have done link building and everything but still no tangible progress.
The anomaly I am experiencing is the following: If I search on Google.com.lb for "aparment for sale in lebanon" I don't get the section on my website that is optimized for that particular query (which is the Buy section located here http://www.ramcolb.com/apartment-sale-beirut-lebanon). my site appears only on page 6 but the Homepage appears which is very counter intuitive because it is not optimized for the "apartment for sale in Lebanon" keyword. And this anomaly is present on almost all sections and their relevant queries. The relevant section for the particular query never appears, it is always another irrelevant section that appears but far in the listings (beyond page 6). It is as if Google hasn't indexed properly my website and is mixing up the sections...
Has anyone experienced this type of problems? what can be done?
Thanks in advance

Hi there,
The points others raise here are very good. Look also at the total number of links coming into the website. Links are still very important for rankings - Google may be trying to steer away from having inbound links influence rankings as much as they have in the past, but they are still a big part of the ranking algorithm and it's difficult to rank well without them.
Open Site Explorer only shows the site receiving links from 13 separate domains. Cross-check this with your competitors - how many do they have? And as David mentions, do these links point to the pages you want to have rank?
-
Some things I noticed.
- The H1 on the page is "BUY" and the second headline that actually includes "Apartments for sale in Lebanon" is an H3
- I would put apartments for sale in lebanon as the h1 instead of buy or at least change that line into an H2 and put "apartments for sale in lebanon" at the beginning of the line instead of at the end
- There are no internal sitelinks linking to that page using anchor text other than "Buy"
- Buy is really awful anchor text. Try to find other places on the site where you can interlink with at least slightly more relevant anchor text.
- Your domain authority is still pretty low. Work on getting that closer to 30.
- Almost all of the external links to that page are spammy directory links that are more likely to hurt you than help you. For example: http://www.dmozing.com/Business/Real_Estate/?p=23. Clean these up.
- A somewhat legitimate link might be http://www.discoverlebanon.com/en/directory/index_v.Homes%20for%20sale_114.html
-
You should also look at submitting a sitemap (https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/156184?hl=en) so you setup your site to be organized.
-
A few things:
1. Are there any links pointing at the page(s) you want to rank, rather than the root domain?
2. How many links are indexed? Do a site search to view this: (site:www.yourdomain.com, and also site:yourdomain.com to check for non-www versions)
3. Have you submitted the main URLs in webmaster tools using the "fetch as Google" option
4. Run the site in SEO-browser to see how the pages render out. Your seo efforts might look good on-page, but render out strange in the eyes of the search engines. (h3's before h1's, etc)
5. Check analytics for referring URL's, and set up an account in moz to check backlinks of you, and your competition.Should be a good start

Any Website SEO Benefits from SAAS Linked Content?
An installed software application has a help section for users, and that help content is housed on the software company website. Would the links from the software application to the company website benefit the websites SEO efforts? Or, would no referring URL mean no SEO value?

Best to Combine Listing URLs? Are 300 Listing Pages a "Thin Content" Risk?
We operate www.metro-manhattan.com, a commercial real estate website. There about 550 pages. About 300 pages are for individual listings. About 150 are for buildings. Most of the listings pages have 180-240 words. Would it be better from an SEO perspective to have multiple listings on a single page, say all Chelsea listings on the Chelsea neighborhood page? Are we shooting ourselves in the foot by having separate URLs for each listing? Are we at risI for a thin cogent Google penalty? Would the same apply to building pages (about 150)? Sample Listing: http://www.nyc-officespace-leader.com/listings/364-madison-ave-office-lease-1802sf Sample Building: http://www.nyc-officespace-leader.com/for-a-new-york-office-space-rental-consider-one-worldwide-plaza-825-eighth-avenue My concern is that the existing site architecture may result in some form of Google penalty. If we have to consolidate these pages what would be the best way of doing so? Thanks,

Website dropped out from Google index
Howdy, fellow mozzers. I got approached by my friend - their website is https://www.hauteheadquarters.com She is saying that they dropped from google index over night - and, as you can see if you google their name, website url or even site: , most of the pages are not indexed. Home page is nowhere to be found - that's for sure. I know that they were indexed before. Google webmaster tools don't have any manual actions (at least yet). No sudden changes in content or backlink profile. robots.txt has some weird rule - disallow everything for EtaoSpider. I don't know if google would listen to that - robots checker in GWT says it's all good. Any ideas why that happen? Any ideas what I should check? P.S. Just noticed in GWT there was a huge drop in indexed pages within first week of August. Still no idea why though. P.P.S. Just noticed that there is noindex x-robots-tag in headers... Anyone knows where this can be set?

New websites
Hi Moz community, My company updated and used a new developer to build and re-design their charity websites: www.runforcharity.com, www.cycleforcharity.com and www.sportforcharity.com. This sites were "re-launched" at the beggining of December 2015 and I have now been able to get a good 6 weeks worth of data. I've been religiously using Moz.com for a couple of years and I use it simply for SEO purposes. Our websites are built upon organic traffic being driven to them and I have noticed that the PA on the new sites has taken a hammering. They all appear to have a PA of 1 and I'm at a loss why? It appears that no page has h1 text? Would this be an issue with the developer or something the content team is doing wrong? Any help of advice would be much appreciated. Many thanks Ryan

How important is the user experience for SEO in google's eyes?
So far I've gathered that backlinks are really king, however you can't get good backlinks without well written content that serves a purpose. As well you can't do a great job with that content and not keep a good user experience, since why would anyone want to backlink to content that can be helpful if you squint an eye and suffer a few scrolling cramps. So how would you rank user experience in the everlasting war of SEO for Google? With this in mind, why would using bootstrap resources pose a problem? I've seen it could add issue to pageload times, however seems minifying could easily solve that. I personally enjoy the use of Bootstrap since it's very easy on the eyes and can have real positive effects when a user looks at content on such a framework.

Website Displayed by Google as Https: when all Secure Content is Blocked - Causing Index Prob.
Basically, I have no inbound likes going to https://www.mysite.com , but google is indexing the Homepage only as https://www.mysite.com In June, I was re included to the google index after receiving a penalty... Most of my site links recovered fairly well. However my homepage did not recover for its top keywords. Today I notice that when I search for my site, its displayed as https:// Robots.txt blocks all content going to any secure page. Leaving me sort of clueless what I need to do to fix this. Not only does it pose a problem for some users who click, but I think its causing the homepage to have an indexing problem. Any ideas? Redirect the google bot only? Will a canonical tag fix this? Thx

Why does Google Claimed Local Listing Ranking Drop?
I have two local google places listinggs unlaimed. Both listings were ranking in the blended search in 7 pack. Once I claimed the local listings for the business both listings rankings have dropped. And one has totally vanished from the search rankings. Is this normal as it appears local places that are not claimed are ranking higher than local places claimed?
