Why are my month old links not showing in WMT or OSE?
-
Hey Everyone! I've been working hard on boosting my ranking after launching my new site 2 months ago. I realize that this process normally takes some time however I've come across a questions that I'm not sure I know that answer to... I had some really solid back links added about a month ago but nothing is showing up yet in WMT on them. When I run an OSE I don't see any links there (not even under newly discovered). Can someone please help with some insight on why they might now be showing. Is it just a time thing or should I be doing something different?Any insight will be very helpful. Thanks

No problem... I have a new site too, and the wait is agonizing!

I was just about to ask the same question. There's a thread in the Q & A that deals with this already. http://moz.com/community/q/how-long-does-it-take-to-get-links-indexed
The consensus seems to be that it can take as long as 6 weeks for links to show up in OSE and WMT for new sites. Older sites with more authority can see their links show up within hours. The key then appears to be building authority not only with links, but with content and social at the same time. Make sure that you've submitted sitemaps to WMT (and Bing WMT - why not?) and that there are no crawl errors or other problems with your site. Get the message out on FB, Twitter and G+. You also want to make sure that you have solid content - not spammy, long enough, etc.
I have also seen some people suggest linking out to important sites in your niche or category as a way to improve indexing, although I don't have any data to back that up. Otherwise, hang in there!

How bad are poor link profiles for a website?
A client has recently switched to us for their SEO and is hugely concerned about their previous company's link building efforts. They say that they have recently removed over 300 links but OSE still lists 160 links. So three questions: How long will it take for OSE to recognise if the links have been removed? How great could the effects of this be on the site's rankings? If we continue to struggle with getting the links removed would Google's disavow tool make much of a difference or are there negatives that sould be considered first?

Website blocked by Robots.txt in OSE
When viewing my client's website in OSE under the Top Pages tab, it shows that ALL pages are blocked by Robots.txt. This is extremely concerning because Google Webmaster Tools is showing me that all pages are indexed and OK. No crawl errors, no messages, no nothing. I did a "site:website.com" in Google and all of the pages of the website returned. Any thoughts? Where is OSE picking up this signal? I cannot find a blocked robots tag in the code or anything.

Percentage of good links vs. bad
Hi Does anyone know the best way of determining good links from bad links using the SEO Moz tools? I bought some directory links to two or three pages on my site a few years back. The were all very obviously spammy because of the anchor text and I didn't have a high enough ratio of good links to counteract them. I read somewhere that if more than 10% of the links to a page have the same (or similar) anchor text, it's obvious that you're on the bad list.

Why are not nofollowed links counted in On-Page Analysis Report?
When I run the On-Page Analysis on our homepage, the report says the page has 238 **"Internal followed links". ** Why are not nofollowed internal links counted as well? Nofollowed links have been leaking link juice for quite some time now. Martin

How can I recognize spammy links that harm my website
Hello, Can someone tell me how I can recognize links that can harm my website? I have OpenSiteExplorer and CognitiveSEO as tools to create nice backlinking reports for me. But my problem is, how do I know if a link shown on these reports can harm my website so I can remove them? Is it linktypes, low auth. links etc? Thank you for your answers in advance! Regards, Thomas
