Pages with Duplicate Page Title
-
Blog - FDM Group has duplicate page title for all blog posts.
We also have multiple localized versions of pages, so the titles are seen as duplicate.
Possible resolutions? Thanks in advance.
-
Hi Christopher,
You have added canonical tags to http://blog.fdmgroup.com/uk/blog/, pointing to http://www.fdmgroup.com/uk/blog/ so this takes care of the duplicate content problem between those two versions of the blog being the same.
For pages like http://www.fdmgroup.com/ca/blog/page/8/, you could look at different pagination options to ensure you receive benefit from these pages. Option 1 in that post (noindex, follow) is one of the simpler ways of doing this, but have a look at the others too.

From my developer: "That isn’t redirecting at all – blog.fdmgroup.com is an A record for the website – it’s only the raw domain that has a 301 redirect.Any existing link to a page on the OLD blog doesn’t have a redirect unless you configure one on the new website e.ghttp://www.fdmgroup.com/fdm-group-speaks-out-against-the-revelation-that-one-in-four-graduates-fail-to-find-work/"Thanks.
-
Yes that looks fine but it should be done at the server level via apache and mod rewrite as that one is only getting that page and your blog has many pages. For example you can go here: http://blog.fdmgroup.com/uk/blog/ which is really the homepage of your blog, and that one doesn't redirect to the other page.
-
From my developer: "It already is."
Is that the case based on this screenshot? Thanks in advance.
-
I would just do your best to describe each page, it may take a while but you will benefit from new content, the dupe content issues will go away and you can engage your customers or visitors. If your in fear of duplicate content and want to take down your pages you can put them in draft mode in wordpress until your satisfied with the new content.
-
It also appeared to be located here: http://blog.fdmgroup.com/uk/blog/
I found it by doing a simple Google Search (see attached).
You can easily replicate it by changing www. to blog.
Hope that helps!

96 pages (not to be confused with blog posts). The issue isn't that I don't have time to edit it, it's what to name the pages. The pages simply list several blog posts which are sorted chronologically, so I can't really title them properly, per se.
-
How many blog pages are there? You may need to go through page by page and make the edits, this can benefit you as well by cleaning up the blog. Make sure each title and description is original.
-
Thanks - I am using an SEO plugin. The issue is that it's reading the duplicate titles for each blog page (by pages, I mean the Older Posts display): http://www.fdmgroup.com/ca/blog/page/8
-
Are you using an seo plugin? If so it may be filling in the page name by default. Do you know how to rename the page titles in a blog? It's really easy just sign in, go to that page, edit page then usually at the bottom the will be a section for title and description. After that hit publish. Hope that helps.
-
blog is located on the domain (not a subdomain) - fdmgroup.com/blog/ - are duplicate titles still an issue? Thanks in advance.
-
2 Easy Steps to fix this issue:
1. 301 Redirect your blog subdomain to point at the www version.
2. Hire an SEO to help you fix this or study up at the Moz Learning Center and do it on your own.

Why Doesn't Google Use My Title Tag and Meta Description?
Hi fellow Moz SEOs, Need your URGENT help! We set an optimised title & meta description for our client websites. These titles are approved by our clients. Before somedays, they checked on Google, noticed the title & meta description were not the same. Next moment, they notified me about this issue. The title & meta description looks fine when I checked the source code. So, why Google use title & meta description differently? For example: Title approved by client: Top Specialist Divorce & Family Lawyer - Yeo & Associates LLC
International SEO | | Verz
Google set our title: Yeo & Associates LLC: Top Specialist Divorce & Family Lawyer Title approved by client: Filing For Divorce Online in Singapore | DivorceBureau®
Google set our title: DivorceBureau®: Filing For Divorce Online in Singapore Title approved by client: Halal Buffet & Bento/Packet Meals Event Caterer Singapore | Foodtalks
Google set our title: Foodtalks - Halal Buffet & Bento/Packet Meals Event Caterer Singapore Title approved by client: Child Care Centre in Singapore| Top Preschool | Carpe Diem
Google set our title: Carpe Diem: Child care Centre in Singapore| Top Preschool Every day, they are requesting me to update Google's title with their approved title. Also, asking me these questions.
Why did this happen?
Why didn't set their recommended title? Is there any way to set our approved titles? Please, help me to find the solution. ASAP Thanks in advance!0 -
Hreflang tags and canonical tags - might be causing indexing and duplicate content issues
Hi, Let's say I have a site located at https://www.example.com, and also have subdirectories setup for different languages. For example: https://www.example.com/es_ES/ https://www.example.com/fr_FR/ https://www.example.com/it_IT/ My Spanish version currently has the following hreflang tags and canonical tag implemented: My robots.txt file is blocking all of my language subdirectories. For example: User-agent:* Disallow: /es_ES/ Disallow: /fr_FR/ Disallow: /it_IT/ This setup doesn't seem right. I don't think I should be blocking the language-specific subdirectories via robots.txt What are your thoughts? Does my hreflang tag and canonical tag implementation look correct to you? Should I be doing this differently? I would greatly appreciate your feedback and/or suggestions.

Ecommerce Product Page Optimization & International SEO
Hello, I'm working on our website SEO optimization. We have a thousands of products pages with different structures for the languages (arg) and very depth folder path .com/[folder]/[folder]/[folder]/product1.hmtl So now I have the happiness of working on the optimization of the website with themajor risk of impacting all current ranking. But anyway, here are a few questions I have on the way. Part 1 - International URL Our websites target people per country and languages. We do not have shops per countries (not enough resources_) but we try to get at least website per languages. What could be the best option?_ Url Parameters +hreflang So we save one folder less and the proper setup. But I'm just scared it's gonna be too messy for Google URL:.com/product1**?lang=fr** Product page:link rel="alternate" hreflang="en" href=".com/product1" / Language folder + hreflang one folder more but clearer structure URL:.com**/fr/**product1 **Product **page:****link rel="alternate" hreflang="en" href=".com/product1" / Part 2 - Product URL Our website is structure per categories so the product comes after. However, I've seen a lot of websites recently removing the categories to save folders space. What should be the most efficient option? Category folder It's obviously a good practice but this + the language folder makes already 2 folders URL:.com/categoryA/product1-{targetedKW} {targetedKW} = cheap product, best price or else All in url I've never done it but it somehow makes sense URL:.com/categoryA-product1-{targetedKW} Part 3 - Keyword stuffing As I'd like to get most of it automatically done, what could be the best places to add a few KW. **Markups:**All the ones we can **Meta Descriptions:**optimize one for Google + one for twitter + one for facebook Longer to do but then from google shopping and other automatic links, we could have the perfect or, at least, best description possible **All other option:**Reuse our product name + {targetter KW1 KW2 ...} Product description_ex: content_ Buttons (click to buy)ex: button title="Buy product_name cheap" alt="Purchase product_name"Buy Product name/button Images:same than above Meta:Titles and meta description Hn

Duplicate product description ranking problems (off-site duplicate content)
We do business in niche category and not in English language market. We have 2-3 main competitors who use same product information as us. They all do have same duplicate products descriptions as we. We with one competitors have domains with highest authority in this market. They maybe have 10-20% better link profile (when counting linking domains and total links). Problem is that they rank much better with product names then we do (same duplicate product descriptions as we have and almost same level internal optimisation) and they haven't done any extra link building for products. Manufacturers website aren't problem, because these doesn't rank well with product name keywords. Most of our new and some old product go to the Supplemental Results and are shown in "In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the ... already displayed. If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included.". Unique text for products isn't a option. When we have writen unique content for product, then these seem to rank way better. So our questions is what can we do externaly to help our duplicate description product rank better compared to our main competitor withour writing unique text? How important is indexation time? Will it give big advantage to get indexed first? We have thought of using more RSS/bing services to get faster indexation (both site will get products information almost at same time). It seems our competitor get quicker in index then we do. Also are farmpages helpful for getting some quick low value links for new products. We have planed to make 2-3 domains that would have few links pointint to these new products to get little advantage right after products are launched and doesn't have extranl links. Sitemap works and our new product are shown on front pages (products that still mostly doesn't rank well and go to Supplemental Results). Some new product have #1 or top3 raking, but these are only maybe 1/3 that should have top3 rankings. Also we have noticed problem that when we index products quickly (for example Fetch as Google) then these will get good top3 results and then some will get out of rankings (to Supplemental Results).

Specific page URL in a multi-language environment
I've read a lot of great posts on this forum about how to go about deciding the best URL structure for each language that your site will support, so thank you to everyone that has provided input on that. I now have a question that I haven't really found answers/opinions on. When providing a page translation, should my content URL reflect that of the country I'm targeting or always remain the same across all sites? Below is an example using the "About Us" page. www.example.com/about-us/
International SEO | | Matchbox
www.example.com/es-mx/about-us/ -- OR -- www.example.com/about-us
www.example.com/es-mx/sobre-nosotros Thank you in advance for your help. Cheers!0 -
Should product-pages with different currencies have different URLs?
Here is a question that should be of interest for small online merchants selling internationally in multiple currencies. When, based on geolocation, a product-page is served with different currencies, should a product-page have a different URL for each currency? Thanks.

Is duplicate content a concern across multiple CCTLDs?
Looking for experienced feedback on a new client challenge. Multiple pages of content in the English language are replicated across multiple CCTLDs in addition to the .com address we're working with. Is duplicate content a concern in this case? What measures are recommended to help preserve their North American search inclusion while not serving as a detriment to external (European/Asian CCTLDs) properties aimed for other geos/languages? EDIT: After posting, this was read. Any thoughts? http://searchengineland.com/google-webmaster-tools-provides-details-on-duplicate-content-across-domains-99246
