Google is showing product rating of 1-star in search results when average rating is 3.7 - 4 stars

When searching for the brand name "SteriPEN", the #3 listing on the SERP is for one of SteriPEN's "Adventurer Opti" product at REI.com,
On the SERP for this search, the REI listing for Adventurer Opti product displays showing the product as 1-star based on a product review from 2010.
What we don't understand is the fact that the product history has a 3.7 to 4.2 rating on most websites. Why would a product with so many reviews and established history have 1 review that drives the 1-star rating from such a prominent retailer?
Makes no sense. Any suggestions as to whom we might be able to contact for help with this is greatly appreciated.

You are correct. We discovered the pattern across many products not just SteriPEN. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

It looks like there's a glitch in the markup on the REI website (or whichever 3rd party review software REI uses). Only one of the reviews on the website is being read and put into the snippet on Google. It looks like it might have been the first review given: a 1-star review by "dan hiker" from 4 years ago. Like the markup isn't being automated on each review after that one.
This looks like an issue on REI's side, and not an error with Google.

Google Mobile usability issues
Hi,
On-Page Optimization | | MProenca
I received a mail from Google to "Fix mobile usability issues found on http://miguel-proença.com/ ". I've changed to a responsive design and all site pages are now mobile-friendly. However, on webmaster tools the usability issues still appear. Does anybody have a solution to this ? Thanks0 -
No product descriptions
Hi all, Wondering if I could get the opinions from other Moz user's on this issue please... A client is building a new online store, it is in the flooring niche, using the drop shipping model. The plan is to launch the site with about 1,000 products and then add more as we go. All good so far (the site is magento based) However, the issue we are facing is down to product descriptions. The client needs to get the site up and running asap to start generating sales but the wholesaler has not provided any product description information for the products - save the size, shape and colour. Can anyone foresee a major issue in launching the website with no product descriptions, from a seo point of view, and then adding the descriptions as we go. Have been trying to establish what Google defines as being a thin site and all the information on the topic is suggesting it is more due to duplicate content where, for example, retailers are all still using the default manufacturer description or have spun the content. I cannot find much which would suggest that product pages missing a description would classify as thing. I am happy to be corrected though. I accept that it would be easier to rank with a good product description but the client is a two person business and it is pretty hard to find things to say about 1,000 different kinds of rugs! Any thoughts would be most welcome please. Thanks.

Selling Products with a similar meta description
Wondering if anyone can help when selling similar products with very similar meta description and product descriptions in general. Have around 500 products - a lot of products have around 10-20 products which are very similar only different is sizes and a maybe a few lines of text if that. Is this a problem in search engines? How does other ecommerce stores selling similar products solve this problem...

H1 Tags on Volusion Product Pages
So I'm working with a client who has no heading tags on his site and I'm wondering if there is an ideal method to implementing these on the product pages specifically, as the wording I ideally want to specify is is the product title, which i can't really code with an H1. Has anyone run into this issue? If so, what was your solution? Also, how vital are these heading tags on the product pages, anyways? If the Volusion SEO expert could chime in, that would be much appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Search Pages outranking Product Pages
A lot of the results seen in the search engines for our site are pages from our search results on our site, i.e. Widgets | Search Results This has happened over time and wasn't intentional, but in many cases we see our search results pages appearing over our actual product pages in search, which isn't ideal. Simply blocking indexing of these pages via robots wouldn't be ideal, at least all at once as we would have that period of time where those Search Results pages would be offline and our product pages would still be at the back of ranking. Any ideas on a strategy to replace these Search Results with the actual products in a way that won't hurt us too bad during the transition? Or a way to make the actual product pages rank above the search results? Currently, it is often the opposite. Thanks! Craig

Schema.org and Google +
Now that google merged local into Google+, should we be changing the way we do the reviews on our sites to be out of 3? I had one out of 5 and it showed up in the SERPS, but since the change now nothing shows.
