Best blogs to follow?
-
Hey Everybody
Im fairly new to SEO and would like to ask which blogs would be beneficial to follow to keep ahead of the ever changing algorithms and methods.
I'm already a avid reader of the SEOMOZ blog which I find a invaluable source of information.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Can't not say I'm a fan of the Distilled blog! http://www.distilled.net/blog/
And there's lots of great (especially for link building) posts on SEER Interactive: http://www.seerinteractive.com/blog/
Finally, there's just been too many good posts recently from Ross Hudgens to ignore him anymore: http://www.rosshudgens.com/

Ooof there are so many and really it depends if you want news, tips or want to learn more about a particular niche. In lieu of a long list I'd recommend SEO Gadget, State of Search and SEO Theory.
-
don't forget search engine land
-
I like
http://www.cre8asiteforums.com/forums/ (not a blog, but a forum)
http://www.searchenginejournal.com/
What I do, though, is follow a bunch of seo people on twitter including @randfish, @rosshudgens @jillwhalen @seobook @krisroadruck @mattcutts @aaronwall and @searchengineland. These folks always point out the new and good content in the seo world.
-
Definitely add http://mattcutts.com/blog to the list
-
I like the SEO Moz blog the best. You should also follow the Official Google Blog http://googleblog.blogspot.com/
Search Engine Watch is another good one http://searchenginewatch.com/page/newsletters

Is anyone out there experienced in creating a blog template on Expression Engine?
I have a client that currently has their site on Expression Engine (EE). I have almost no familiarity with that, and am curious to know how user-friendly it is, and what is involved, for example, in creating a template to migrate a blog from WordPress to EE. I am getting more details, but in the meantime, wanted to find an "expert." Anyone out there know this CMS?

Help Finding Specific SEOMoz Blog Post - Help meh puhleeze
Hi everyone! Hopefully everyone had a great weekend. I'm having trouble finding a specific blog post (from the SEOMoz blog), that was pertaining to content writing. I think (but could be wrong), that it was written by Rand, but I'm having the most difficult time finding it. The overall theme of the post was about Writing/Blogging about topics OUTSIDE of whatever your niche is. I didnt bookmark the thread (doh!), but the theme of it was to basically not just write about stuff pertaining to your niche on your blog. but to write about other topics as well (I.E if I have a site about blue widgets, not only writing about blue widgets). Is there anyone that is familiar with the post that I am referring to that could possibly point me in the right direction? Thanks a ton

Best X-Cart SEO Solutions / Modules?
We recently acquired an e-commerce client that uses X-Cart. We have no previous experience with this platform and it's hard to find any good / helpful info regarding SEO functionality online. Right now I need to figure out how to handle mass redirects of 404 errors, friendlier URLs, resolving duplicate content, XML sitemap generation, robots.txt generation. The functionality built into the platform so far is terrible and all of the modules are pricey. Any recommendations, general or specific, would be insanely helpful if anybody out there has experience with this particular platform. Thanks!

Best way to utilize an infographic...... do I have the makings of one?
I have read the REALLY great post on YouMoz about HOW to push an infographic but I wanted to throw this out for discussion: I operate an seo / Internet marketing company but I am also a partner in a party rental business here in Wichita. I have the material for a GREAT infographic (I think) a copy of our party rental yellow page ad with a tracking # in the ad (provided by yellowbook to see how many calls we receive every month) a report from yellowbook showing we received 277 calls in a YEAR from that ad a screenshot of Google analytics showing we received 16,000 visits during the same time period. (12k unique visits) 300 calls vs 12,000 unique visits Of those 12,000 contacts we had 3,700 of them get online quotes and provide their name, address, email and phone number. Yellow pages = 300 calls / 150-200 actual sales Internet = 12,000 unique visits, 3700 leads and ... ? ... probably 800 sales This proves in black and white right from yellowbook themselves what an AMAZING difference there is in the value of SEO vs old school phone book ads. Does this have the making of a good infograph? Can you see where this would be helpful to show potential clients? How would you use this to promote your business? Thanks for your thoughts and opinions. If this can help others I would be happy to share more specifics. Matthew

Schema, RDFa or microformats? Which is best for long-term success in a competitive market vertical?
I've read statements compelling one to think about Schema as a "sports car" and RDFa (and microformats) as a diesel truck... both having merit depending on what you want to do. Although Schema was just announced and seems to have broad support - is it compatible with RDFa 1.1 syntax? I've utilized microformats on a few site with great success but embarking on a very large project and feel structured markeup would give an edge over the competition. Would love to have a discussion with folks on this subject. Thanks!
