Linking Domains - Missing
-
Hello everyone,
I was wondering if someone could help me. I keep reviewing my linking domains as I'm expecting a link back from an awards website that I recently sponsored / partnered. However its just not showing. I can see the link on their site and I can see that the other partners links are being tracked when I look at them in Open Site Explorer. I've got a couple of occurrences of this I'm and confused as to why?
Thanks for your help!

Thanks Tom,
That's fantastic! I really appreciate your help on that!

Good news! Both domains appear in MajesticSEO and Ahrefs. I've screen grabbed Majestic.
I imagine these will pop up in your OSE profile in the next update too. But they're there and passing strength. Good job!

Thank you that's very kind, i'd really appreciate that!
Our url is: www.agencyexpress.co.uk
The linking urls are: http://www.theestas.com/partners/ and http://www.redstones.co.uk/office-locations/brentwood/useful-information/trusted-suppliers
We don't have many but it's something I'm working on.
Thanks again Tom!

Hi Naomi, if you'd like me to quickly check whether or not the link is showing in Majestic/Ahrefs, let me know your URL and the link URL, as I have access to both tools. Either post here or send me a PM.

Hi,
Thank you that's very helpful! OSE not yet updated might be the case for one, however all the sponsors went on the site at the same time. I will check again after the next update. The other link is older. In that case they have linked us from an image. So maybe that's the problem.
I will check out the other tools for sure!
Thanks Again
Naomi

Hi there
If the page is being crawled by OSE (as shown by the link appearing in your competitors' link profile), it's probably a case of the link not being found yet by OSE for you.
OSE only updates once a month, with the next update due tomorrow in fact. You can see the update history and future update dates here. So, judging by that if your link was placed after June 20th, and possibly a couple of days before to account for processing time, that would be the reason why it has not shown up yet.
If you placed the link well before then, it might be more of an issue with the link itself or OSE showing an error. You can check to see if the link is showing up with a couple of other tools, such as MajesticSEO, Ahrefs (paid options) or OpenLinkProfiler (free).
Hope this helps.

Will Moz move DA from an old domain to the new?
Hi folks, I'm moving a digital magazine of mine, which has a great deal of authority (DA53!) to a new domain, which is much more brandable. I'm curious if Moz ever passes the actual DA/PA numbers to the new domain. Does the tool pick this up, eventually? I know once the domain is switched, DA will show a "1" -- as the domain is brand new, technically. This is NOT a question about authority/link juice being passed, but rather the numbers being displayed by Open Site Explorer. Some authors do look at Moz DA as an indicator of a sites "power" before applying for authorship, so I'm trying to find a way to move to a more brandable domain, while keeping the OSE stats in place. If it's not possible, I'll have to live with it 🙂 Any input? Thanks everyone!

Can improving page authority on all pages help overall domain auth?
Our website is made up of approx 4000 pages - some of which are old pages with a pa of 1. I am removing these pages (ensuring they don't have links etc). Can removing so many low scoring and useless pages impact on domain authority. Our DA jumped 4 points and i wondered if this was helping Example 4000 pages in total 2500 have PA 1 - these get removed will it look better for DA that overall there are now no pages where PA =1 and the site now contains higher PA pages only?

Why does OSE show different link equity for homepage with and without trailing slash?
Hi all, I am working with a developer who believes OSE (Open Site Explorer) is flawed. His reasoning is that OSE shows completely different link equity and domain authority for these two URLs [company name is purposely withheld]: http://www.mydomain.com/us/ and http://www.mydomain.com/us NOTE: http://www.mydomain.com/us has been properly 301-redirecting to http://www.mydomain.com/us/ for years. The developer's argument is that the URL that is being 301-redirected shouldn't have any link equity at all, therefore OSE is flawed. Here is the response I would like to give him. Please feel free to poke holes, provide feedback or flat out correct me if I am wrong: Dear inquisitive developer, Any URL that is being linked to by another site that has link equity will get link equity passed to it. This is true even if the URL is a page that doesn't exist. What it can't do (if it doesn't exist) is then pass that link equity on to another page. Moz's OSE is showing separate link equity for the two versions of this URL because other sites have linked to both versions. The fact that one 301-redirects to the other is good and ensures that link equity from one is passing to the preferred URL. The 301-redirect does not, however, remove link equity from the first URL, but rather passes the existing link equity from one to the other. Consequently, Moz's OSE is not flawed, but rather is displaying the link equity of one URL that is benefiting the other via a 301-redirect. Sincerely, Dana

Just Discovered Links not appearing in main index
Hi Around October, November (and ongoing since then) we had some links appear in the "just discovered" index of OSE, and yet they've never made it into the main list of domains linking to the website. We have amassed quite a few links from various domains that seem to get picked up in "Just Discovered", but not by the standard list of links to our site Is there any reason for this?

Why moz pro detects inexistent links?
I have a campaign in moz pro to my personal webpage for testing purposes and also a bit of learning. But i have a question: On link -> Link analysis i can see this: http://maqui.darkbolt.net/project/chat/index.php 404http://maqui.darkbolt.net/project/docs/index.php 404http://maqui.darkbolt.net/project/down/index.php 404http://maqui.darkbolt.net/project/foto/index.php 404http://maqui.darkbolt.net/project/news/index.php?news=1 404http://maqui.darkbolt.net/project/project/index.php 404http://maqui.darkbolt.net/project/ro/index.php 404http://maqui.darkbolt.net/project/who/index.php 404Obviously all these address doesn't exist. There are links on the page project/index.php linking to, for example, /chat/index.php.How can i resolve this problem on the stats? There's something bad really on the page? As i can see all links on the page are working properly.
