Is dash problem for seo?
-
My web site http://www.green-lotus-trekking.com is this problem for google search engine optimization? Some little percentage problem or totally I am in Confusion?
-
Thanks for your quick and informative sugestions.
yes, satisfy with you, but i used simple image slider i think the site is not too heavy for loading. And other Green lotus trekking is company name so i wanna used only proper title, i mean only search for everest base camp trek for this url http://www.green-lotus-trekking.com/everest-base-camp-trek/ but google doesnt cached proper meta description it catched non meta description can you give me any ideas about this?

No, in some cases a dash would REALLY help a domain rank
Dashes would REALLY help!

I agree with Paints, Homepage is very very very slow.
I also don't think the title of the homepage is that appealing, so I would definitely rewrite that one.
As for the Dash problem. I have several websites all with dashes all without ranking problems. One of those websites currently drives like 100.000 visites each month so the dash is definitely not the problem.
Then some other point for your site that might be useful to you:
- I think you should kill the widget on the left side that appears halfway of the page and substitute that one with a normal share widget on the bottom of your homepage or not at all.
- Have you optimized the size of the images? Some take like forever to load or don;t focus that well.
- The titles for the sub pages are a bit stiff and short (Everest Base Camp Trek). Personally I like the way Danny Dover described in his book, Search Engine Optimization Secrets, so I would make it more like: Everest Base Camp Trek | Green Lotus Trekking (off course you should take in consideration the length of the title).
- The images slider/gallery doesn't work properly in my browser (safari), once I click an image it doesn't work at all.
I think these are your main problems. If you could speed up everything (page load speed on the Tibet Tours page is 5.976 seconds) and optimize your titles, images and the rest of the site, you could make sure that the dashes in the url don't have any negative effect at all.
Hope this helps some. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me for them.

really? I ran some tests maybe 2 years ago - the result was the oppisite (in germany only) the site with dashes got more clicks than the site without.

what should be the problem? The dash (-) is no problem
to answer the title of the question.
But you have to do a bit work onpag. For example the nepal-trekking site has the title Nepal Tours but a heading with Nepal Trekking and the homepage has the title _Trekking In Nepal | Nepal Trekking | Hiking In Nepal _not sweet. And the homepage (on my computer) is very slow.
I guess there are some more little problems - but the titles are confusing for me - so I think google would be confused to

Hi Agsin,
You can make rank the domains with multiple dashes. But usually domains with more dash looks spammy to users. So they may not click on your website even if it ranked on page 1

Pop-ups ok for SEO?
Are unintrusive pop-ups okay or is Google likely to impose a black mark? I'm not talking about making people stay on the site, just talking about little one corner pop-up for a special offer. An example would be an embedded live chat pop-up. Have you had any experience?

On-Page Problem
Hello Mozzers, A friend has a business website and the on-page stuff is done really bad. He wants to rank for: conference room furnishing, video conference, digital signage. (Don't worry about the keywords, it's just made up for an example.) For these three services he has a page: hiswebsite.com/av AV stands for audio and video and is the h1. If you click on one of the service, the url doesn't change. Like if you click on video conference, just the text changes, the url stays /av. All his targeted pages got an F Grade, I am not surprised, the services titles are in . Wouldn't it be a lot better to make an own page for every service with a targeted keyword, like hiswebsite.com/video-conference All this stuff is on /av, how will a 301 resirect work to all the service pages, does this make sense? Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Multiple redirects a problem?
When product is sold out I will 301 redirect to a category page if a similar product is not available, but now our web developer has changed all the url's of the category pages so I need to redirect them all to the new category pages but that means there are some products that are first being redirected to the no longer existent category and then being redirected again to the new category page. This seems like it might me be a problem having two 301 redirects so I wanted to find out for sure if it is. Unfortunately our system for redirecting pages is archaic so it will be difficult and time consuming to go back and redo all the redirects that are going to pages that no longer exist so I wanted to get some additional opinions before I do that.

Wordpress Problems.. SEO-Yoast is Toast?
Hello; I have installed the WP Yoast Widget in my Blog, and 2 weeks, after my issues went away, they came back X's 300! lol So I uninstalled it, and my issues obviously got worse, and then I re-activated, and reset everything, and still got the 300+ issues. Is there a secondary plug in you would suggest, to run at the same time as Yoats, or theat will fix all issues? Ever think of making an SEOmoz Widget for WP since it is gaining so much popularity?? Thank you Great work by the way! Loved the Webinar today!

I am wondering if there are any tips for use call tracking numbers without negatively impacting my local SEO results? Advertising and negative impact on SEO
On one of my sites, I've been trying to get the word out by contacting blogs and asking them to share my site with their readers. This has resulted in some free publicity for my site, as well as quite a few paid reviews/sponsored posts. Note, however, that I've never paid for links, just reviews of my site... When I started this about 2 months ago, my site was a PR3 and getting fairly lowsy organic search traffic (i.e. 30-40 visits a day from Google). Then a few days ago, my PR dropped to 1. I didn't worry too much though, because my organic traffic was still around 30-40 visits a day. Now today, I checked and I only had 1 visitor the entire day from Google. Obviously I've been penalized. My most important question is, what can I do? Do I have an recourse, or do I need to just shut the domain down and move elsewhere? Second, wtf is Google penalizing this? I understand the argument against paid links, but should I not be allowed to advertise my site? Apparently I can buy links all day long through Google and they'll happily take my money, but the minute I pay some poor blogger to write an article about my site to their audience, I get penalized? Please help, I can't believe I just destroyed one of my sites like this!
