Duplicate meta and title in Google Webmaster Tools not updated?
-
Our canonical tags were removed by mistake for some time and our duplicate meta and title warnings in Google webmaster tools html improvements went up. We fixed the issue a week ago. I made sure the sitemap is picking up the canonical URL. Still the number went up after we fixed it (from around 5000 to around 7000 now) but when I click on details, it shows around 2000 in detail page. How long does it take for Google to update this?

Seriously, it can take a while for the pages to get removed. One week is not going to see the bot recrawl all those pages, most likely 1-2 months. I would resubmit the entire site using fetch as google, and resubmit all linking URLs. Go through your top level menus and resubmit them as well.

Duplicate Content
Hello Moz Quick question. Can I copy and paste a paragraph of text (100 words) from my main category page into my products without hurting SEO of the category page? The content on my category page is so good I don't want to take chances as this is what I will be ranking for. Thanks

Crawl Diagnostics Updates
I have several page types on my sites that I have blocked using the robots.txt file (ex: emailafriend.asp, shoppingcart.asp, login.asp), but they are still showing up in crawl diagnostics as issues (ex: duplicate page content, duplicate title tag, etc). Is there a way to filter these issues or perhaps there is something I'm doing wrong resulting in the issues that are showing up? Ryan

Locating Duplicate Pages
Hi, Our website consists of approximately 15,000 pages however according to our Google Webmaster Tools account Google has around 26,000 pages for us in their index. I have run through half a dozen sitemap generators and they all only discover the 15,000 pages that we know about. I have also thoroughly gone through the site to attempt to find any sections where we might be inadvertently generating duplicate pages without success. It has been over six months since we did any structural changes (at which point we did 301's to the new locations) and so I'd like to think that the majority of these old pages have been removed from the Google Index. Additionally, the number of pages in the index doesn't appear to be going down by any discernable factor week on week. I'm certain it's nothing to worry about however for my own peace of mind I'd like to just confirm that the additional 11,000 pages are just old results that will eventually disappear from the index and that we're not generating any duplicate content. Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be a way to download a list of the 26,000 pages that Google has indexed so that I can compare it against our sitemap. Obviously I know about site:domain.com however this only returned the first 1,000 results which all checkout fine. I was wondering if anybody knew of any methods or tools that we could use to attempt to identify these 11,000 extra pages in the Google index so we can confirm that they're just old pages which haven’t fallen out of the index yet and that they’re not going to be causing us a problem? Thanks guys!

Which is better, have our location in the title or have a title that is 66 characters?
I was told by an SEO company that I need to put our name and location in every page title, however, an seomoz.org campaign gave me warnings for having a page title that is too long. Which is better, have our location in the title or have a title that is 66 characters? We have both a physical and online store, so it would still be nice to direct foot traffic to our physical store.

I'd love to be about to export these reports to excel and quickly run my on page optimization. The goal is to produce a checklist for a developer to execute quickly. Thanks for your help Gabe
