Your advice regarding thin content would be really appreciated
-
Hi guys,
I have embarked on a new site creation. The site is being created from scratch and very custom.
Basically the site allows people to review certain products and services.
If each review completed by users is seen as a seperate page by google ... is this considered deceptive or a likelihood of being slapped with a thin content penalty?
Basically 1 product may have hundreds of reviews naturally over time. Some may be really short and some may be longer.
the reason why i would like the user reviews to be seen as seperate pages is because I want google to understand that people are regularly interacting with the main content page.
Any advice in this area would be really appreciated.

"You are better off putting up a separate review page for every review that page gets but still, I would choose putting it on the same page to take full advantage of it."
Yep this is exactly what I want to do. Sounds like Laura's idea is amazing and I need to do some more research on how to design a page to act in this way.
Thanks heaps guys!

Actually the way amazon allows users to review products is very similar to the way i want mine set up.
So there is a main product page (like amazon) and reviews below it... what is this 'overflow' you speak of? can you kindly provide any direction?
-
So if I understood this correctly:
- You want to assign a new page per review
- You fear that it's thin content
If so, then it is thin. Very thin.
Google will know if you update your page, much like how pages get new comments.
You are better off putting up a separate review page for every review that page gets but still, I would choose putting it on the same page to take full advantage of it.
Laura's suggestion of doing overflows like amazon is also a good one. Pretty brilliant actually. I would've forgotten about that.

Hi Irdeto -
I'm not sure I understand how putting each review on a separate page would make Google think that there is more interaction on the product page (am I getting that right?)
Having each review as a separate page is potentially indeed very thin. It also sounds like a horrible user experience. Review text will add more rich text to the product page, which is great. Can you limit the reviews on a page to x reviews and then come up with a system for the overflow (potentially a product reviews page (vs the main product page) like Amazon?

No Index thousands of thin content pages?
Hello all! I'm working on a site that features a service marketed to community leaders that allows the citizens of that community log 311 type issues such as potholes, broken streetlights, etc. The "marketing" front of the site is 10-12 pages of content to be optimized for the community leader searchers however, as you can imagine there are thousands and thousands of pages of one or two line complaints such as, "There is a pothole on Main St. and 3rd." These complaint pages are not about the service, and I'm thinking not helpful to my end goal of gaining awareness of the service through search for the community leaders. Community leaders are searching for "311 request service", not "potholes on main street". Should all of these "complaint" pages be NOINDEX'd? What if there are a number of quality links pointing to the complaint pages? Do I have to worry about losing Domain Authority if I do NOINDEX them? Thanks for any input. Ken

Content suggestions from MOZ
Hello, I checked moz content suggestions and for one of my keywords “Burgundy bike tours”. It gives me expressions such as “Burgundy France” and “Burgundy wine”. My question is whether I should include the exact expression “Burgundy wine” in a sentence or if include burgundy somewhere in my text and wine somewhere else if it is fine ? PS : What is the real difference between marketmuse and moz ? and why do they sometimes give different suggestions ?

How to avoid duplicate content
Hi there, Our client has an ecommerce website, their products are also showing on an aggregator website (aka on a comparison website where multiple vendors are showing their products). On the aggregator website the same photos, titles and product descriptions are showing. Now with building their new website, how can we avoid such duplicate content? Or does Google even care in this case? I have read that we could show more product information on their ecommerce website and less details on the aggregator's website. But is there another or better solution? Many thanks in advance for any input!

Scraping / Duplicate Content Question
Hi All, I understanding the way to protect content such as a feature rich article is to create authorship by linking to your Google+ account. My Question
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | Mark_Ch
You have created a webpage that is informative but not worthy to be an article, hence no need create authorship in Google+
If a competitor comes along and steals this content word for word, something similar, creates their own Google+ page, can you be penalised? Is there any way to protect yourself without authorship and Google+? Regards Mark0 -
Duplicate content that looks unique
OK, bit of an odd one. The SEOmoz crawler has flagged the following pages up as duplicate content. Why duplicate content for same page?
Hi, My SEOMOZ crawl diagnostic warn me about duplicate content. However, to me the content is not duplicated. For instance it would give me something like: (URLs/Internal Links/External Links/Page Authority/Linking Root Domains) http://www.nuxeo.com/en/about/contact?utm_source=enews&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=enews20110516 /1/1/31/2 http://www.nuxeo.com/en/about/contact?utm_source=enews&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=enews20110711 0/0/1/0 http://www.nuxeo.com/en/about/contact?utm_source=enews&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=enews20110811 0/0/1/0 http://www.nuxeo.com/en/about/contact?utm_source=enews&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=enews20110911 0/0/1/0 Why is this seen as duplicate content when it is only URL with campaign tracking codes to the same content? Do I need to clean this? Thanks for answer
