Search Result Discrepancy: Keyword "Dresses" shows international sites in the search results of Google.co.in.
-
Hi All,
What would be the reason that Google shows international websites in the first page results while there are huge local players available. Eg: Dresses - Keyword that shows results with almost all the results from International websites whereas the local big players in the same category are not shown. This is not the case for other keywords like Women dresses, Clothing, Shoes etc., Is it a bug or any particular reasons?
Thanks,
-
A point of clarification here related to the first part of your answer. Google does not use PA and DA, those are Moz metrics. They're not looking at the Moz metrics for a site when they use their algorithms.

Hi
Google will always give priority to International brands with high DA and PA even in local search results. A few years ago you would have seen local results dominating the top ten rankings but it seems for past few months or so Google has tweaked its algorithm to better rely on International brands such as <cite class="_Rm">www.newlook.com</cite> with a Domain Authority of 71 and Page Authority of 76! Especially when it comes to GENERAL search terms such as "Dresses".
Try to Google the term www.newlook.com, you will notice you will receive About 90,200,000 results, just to show you what you are up against! (Believe this is the site on top of search results)
This is a pretty powerful site and not easy to displace easily, as its an established "BRAND" with well over 32,664 Back-Links, a healthy link profile, superb original content, Well over 1 Million pages indexed, and thus from Google Perspective , it will have more trust to believe that this site is reputable enough to add more value in its search results, even those targeting Local Search Results.
Would advise to optimize for Keywords such as Indian Dresses, Dresses in India, Buy Indian Dresses, etc. As "Dresses" has a Keyword difficulty Score of 66% in Google.co.in. Which is Highly Competitive:
ONLY Powerful sites with strong pages tend to dominate these results. Links in quantity and quality (at both the domain and page level) are required to earn top rankings.
While a term such as "Buy Indian Dresses" has only a difficulty score of 45% , which as MOZ says is Moderately Competitive:
Search results in this category require high authority domains with well-targeted pages OR lower authority sites with powerful individual pages to achieve top results.
How Do Search Engines Determine Importance?
Currently, the major engines typically interpret importance as popularity – the more popular a site, page or document, the more valuable the information contained therein must be. This assumption has proven fairly successful in practice, as the engines have continued to increase users’ satisfaction by using metrics that interpret popularity.
Popularity and relevance aren’t determined manually. Instead, the engines craft careful, mathematical equations – algorithms – to sort the wheat from the chaff and to then rank the wheat in order of tastiness (or however it is that farmers determine wheat’s value).
These algorithms are often comprised of hundreds of components. In the search marketing field, we often refer to them as “ranking factors” Moz crafted a resource specifically on this subject – Search Engine Ranking Factors. -MOZ

"spammy structred data" search console message
Hey gang, I want to first say thank you to anybody that tries to help me with this. I'm not quite sure where to start. So first I get the message in search console for my locksmith website that it looks like I have some spammy structured data. I remembered that for one landing page I did have the stars short code on it and it was displaying the stars. Well, I went and looked and they were indeed no longer showing. So I simply deleted the shortcode, but I wanted to do a thorough check of my landing pages, one by one. Now I have project supremacy on my wordpress site, which I stand by, it's a solid product and I have been able to make my per page schema look really good, zero errors. So I went through each page that had errors on it and fixed them and sent it all back into google for 'reconsideration'. BUT today (sorry this is getting long) I look in my search console and I see that ALL of my blog posts have errors on them. Something wrong with the hentry. As I test one of the posts in structured data tester tool I see 4 errors and 4 warnings. I don't have the author displaying which is not true and some other things. But I have never ever tried to schema any of my blog posts and there is ZERO site wide schema, I already checked. Where is this bad schema living, and could that be the reason for the spammy stuff? Thank you crew!!! mwDd8

Best practice for local keyword ranking in URLs
Hi, I have a large artificial grass website with many franchise location landing pages. At the moment i have most of the landing page URLs like this www.domainname.com/uk/city/ My TLD does not contain the keyword "artificial grass" so should I follow the location with the keywords /city-artificial-grass/ or is Google pretty savvy these days and will it know that I am an artificial grass company? I'm after the best recommendations for this if possible. Thanks

SEO Client not rankings in Google
Hello, I have a client that has continued to be problematic for my team and I. They have fair to middling rankings in Yahoo and Bing, but none in Google. I realize that they are three separate search engines each with their own criteria, but this client is the only one experiencing this problem. There is no significant duplicate content that can find, same with restrictions in the robots.txt file. These seems to be no reason why all my tools say that this client has no presence at all in google, especially when the client gains most of their traffic through Google. Can anyone assist me in finding out what is going wrong? Client website for reference: http://www.volvethosp.com/ Best, BeyondIndigo

SEO and Redirecting Site to a Different Firm's Domain while Maintaining Current Domain's Rankings
I am a plaintiffs' attorney with a website that ranks well for my major practice areas. I am considering taking a position with a new firm. As part of the discussion, the new firm would allow me to keep my current site so long as it redirects to my bio page on their firm's site. My goal is to keep my current site ranking well and continuously work on SEO efforts, in case I leave the new firm and want to rely on my current site in the future. My questions are: Is there a way to redirect my site every time it shows up in the listings (I have 1000+ indexed pages) without sacrificing its current rankings b/c of bounce rate issues, etc and 2) If I continue to add pages and work on SEO for my site while it redirects to another, will those efforts be worthwhile due to the redirect? I want to keep trying to build my site even though it redirects to a page on a different domain.
