Title, description modification?
-
If i make, modifications in my paget title and sescription, it's possible to will decrase my page visits? If yes, when will increase my page visits? thanks
-
No, Google will not penalize you but then those changes will appear only afer Google crawls and indexes the page. In case Google finds your title & meta data of low quality, it can fetch it from Yahoo! directory or DMOZ (if you have your entry). In case you don't have it, it will use the first lines or the most related content on your page.

Thanks for the answer. one more question: Google penalyse me if i made 3 title and description modification within a week? Thanks

The rule of thumb with your page title is to keep it focussed to the content of the page. However, it is impossible to say just what this will do for you (or how long it will take) as there are many other aspects that need to be taken into account as well. A well thought out page title is just one small part of your overall SEO page design.

Andy

If you page is performing well in terms of traffic then there is no point in modifying it. But if you are updating the content of the page or you want to re-write better title & description then you can definitely do it. Having keywords in meta description do not help but in title, yes.
People tend to stuff keywords in meta description thinking that it will help in rankings but it is not so. A well written description describing the content of the page is more helpful and clickable. On the other hand, keywords in title definitely helps.
If you re-write totally unrelated title and description, traffic will definitely fall but a better text will attract more traffic.

Colons and commas in title tags instead of hyphens and pipes ?
Hi In light of Google changing display of title tag from character limit to pixel limit does it make sense to swap some uses of pipes and hyphens with colons and commas ? For example: Category: Keyword, Keyword, Keyword | Brand Instead of: Category - Keyword - Keyword - Keyword | Brand I seem to remember hearing bad things about colons in title tags but think that was just in regard to when used multiple times. Surely ok to use once if in logical format ? Cheers Dan

Title Keyword Question
I'm writing up keywords for new pages on a website. There are a number of variations on the way we can say what we're looking for, and I don't want to post the specific keywords but I'll give an example using fruits. Let's say I want to optimize for Granny Smith apples, McIntosh apples, Jonathan apples, etc. Could my title be Apples - Granny Smith, McIntosh, Jonathan and my page will come up when someone searchs "Granny Smith apples" or "McIntosh apples" etc. or do the words have to be repeated in order. Obviously I will also be repeating these in the description and on the page I'm optimizing. Thanks!

Page title structure?
From an SEO and user perspective what structure do you recommend for page titles. For example (given that they shouldn't ideally be more than 70 characters) :- Keywords (maybe two or three) | Company Name | more keywords I understood the best place for the company name was about second place. Is this now the considered view taking into consideration 'branding' which has been flagged up as the way forward. Keywords are separated by the vertical bar | - any thoughts? For 'house keeping' pages such as Privacy Policy - should this be optmised or simply stated as 'privacy policy' Thanks
