Www.site.com linking to pages www10.site.com
-
The root domain of the website in question is www.site.com but all subpages are on the subdomain www10.site.com (I'm pretty sure it's a subdomain, at least, used for load balancing?).
A funny thing happens on this site with the moz toolbar.
I visit a subpage, www10.site.com/articles/articletopic1
That page has a lot of links on it, all of them visibly going to the subdomain www10.site.com.
However, the moz toolbar shows some of them as Internal links and most of them as External links.
As far as I can tell, there is no real rhyme or reason to the difference between the links that are highlighted as Internal vs. External.
The link structures vary greatly:
Some are properly structured www10.site.com/blogs/category
And some are poor like www10.site.com/articles/show_articles.php?section=category1So a couple questions here:
Does this subdomain www10 have a detriment on the rankings of subpages?
What could possibly cause the internal links on these subpages to be highlighted as external pages with the moz toolbar? -
Hi Abe,
The links are definitely following these rules unless I'm really not understanding something.
I'll send help@ an email with the exact site and situation.
thanks,
Victor

Moz uses this rule when referring to each type of link: An external link is a link that points at an external domain and Internal links are links that go from one page on a domain to a different page on the same domain. They are commonly used in main navigation, for example.
If we are misreading links or mozbar is returning strange results, make sure to write in to help@moz.com so we can try to separate that out for you. Also, make sure to use Opensiteexplorer to filter those links and find out where they are coming from.

I'm curious myself. I have seen content delivered via mirrors but nothing that specifically called for a link to one. Seems illogical to me
I would suggest leaving the question open (unless somebody has a good answer) eventually a Moz staff will see it and hopefully help us out.
Good luck

Thanks for the reply, Don. A good start to crack the case!
It's not my site but just a site I came across and am interested in learning more about, so these types of details I can't really provide.

Hello Motava,
So first lets understand what the www[number] actually means. It is not a technically a different sub-domain www is actually the sub-domain. The [number] is a way for content to be shared / mirrored on the www sub-domain usually for load balancing purposes. You can learn a little more about this by one of my favorite Mozzer's (Dr. Pete) with his article about the anatomy of a URL.
With that I have to question why your site would actually imbed the mirror into the link? I would want to examine this behavior as I have not seen it before the [10] should not be present in the link because it has nothing to do with the link other then where the content for www is delivered from. By specifically saying use mirror [10] it defeats the purpose of load balancing.
^^ Perhaps another Mozzer can shed some light on this
As to you question about whether www10 and www have different rankings the answer should be no. They are the same link for all intents and purposes. The way these links are being delivered are confusing to me, perhaps Rogerbot (Moz) is having the same confusion.

Crawl report shows that it gets 4xx errors for pages that work fine. Why?
On the crawl report it has all these "Critical Crawler Issues". They all say "4xx Error", yet when i click on the link from the crawler report, it goes to a perfectly functioning page, not a 404 page or anything. If i click in it actually says it's a 403 error. It's all for pages generated by the IDX solution for our real estate website. Is Moz broken or am i missing something? Here are a couple examples: <dl class="crawl-page-details-list"> <dd class="crawl-page-details-list-emphasis">https://teamvivi.com/homes-for-sale-map-search/</dd> <dd class="crawl-page-details-list-emphasis"> <dl class="crawl-page-details-list"> <dd class="crawl-page-details-list-emphasis">https://teamvivi.com/email-alerts/</dd> </dl> </dd> </dl>

MozBot Finding Duplicate Pages That Aren't Duplicate
I've been reviewing the technical audits for my campaign in Moz, and noticed I had a number of duplicate content issues that I'm not really sure how to address. When I click on the links of what the duplicates are, they are all different links that have different content/images. Based on what I was seeing other's wrote in the forum, this could be because the code base is really the same between these pages, and many of these were using query parameters (I'm assuming that is why the code is almost exactly the same across these pages), so example: website.com/tags/KEYWORD1?type=KEYWORD2 is a duplicate of website.com/tags/KEYWORD3?type=KEYWORD4 I was reading that I can use that URL Parameters area in google search console, but my search console says that the googlebot isn't experiencing issues, so I wasn't sure if that was the right move. I can't do the canonicals because these pages all have different content on them, and I know duplicate content is a big SEO issue, so I really wasn't sure what my next steps should be. Thanks for the help!

Moz keyword mention on-page counting errors
Hi. Moz is showing 18 mentions of the keyword 'street furniture' on this landing page https://www.broxap.com/street-furniture.html But I can only count 6 in total in the body copy and 13 if you include navigation links. This is the same on other pages too for that keyword. Does anyone know where it's counting these extra keywords from? I don't want to fall foul of keyword stuffing but as far as I can see we're not! Could Moz be miscalculating? Any help appreciated! Thanks Joe

How does an index page have a higher Authority than the root domain?
So just curious, but on my domain, http://www.bulwarkpestcontrol.com the Page Authority is 59 and the root domain authority 52. That seems odd as it is the same page. Explanation?

On Page Grade - Moz Analytics
When I go to search overview I can see my on page optimization grades, but when I try to use the on page grade optimizer for different keywords and url's I get the error. "The URL you entered does not appear to be returning a page successfully. Please make sure that you've entered the URL of valid, working page." However, I know it is a valid url and I get the error even if I use the same url and same keyword I can see the grade for from the search overview. Also, if I try to regrade the page nothing happens and where my previous grade and analysis was located I now have nothing. Any information about why this is happening? Thanks for the help.
