Is it a Panda/Penguin hit? Or it's just a natural ranking drop?
-
My traffic comes from google. This is the traffic profile. Does it look like a Panda or Penguin hit? I have a hard time determining it myself. Thanks.

I'd also check your queries in Google Webmaster tools. You can drill down on them to see impressions by day. If you see that your impressions go to zero for a particular Keyword or keyword stem, it's a sign that you might have gotten a penalty of some kind.
Penguin tends to attack pages. If you see a particular page or pages had significant falloff, it's a bad sign.
-
The idea is not to get confused and dive a little deeper in to your analytic data.
Get in to day by day traffic and see where do you see the big falls in traffic and compare those days with the dates on which Google updates in penguin and panda algo (you can find this on moz.com)
If it matches the dates as given in the Google algo update chart then you are defiantly hit by a penguin or panda update and you should check WMT for the confirmation.
Sometimes you don’t receive the email but if the dates match you should plan your backup.
Hope this helps!

Looks to me that some mighty tinkering has been going on, on a regular basis to get these ups and downs and vast swings.
If you can refer back your change logs to see where what and when has reflected in the traffic flow.
Also look at your Adwords account too. When a key word that drives traffic but no sales is eventually culled this can be the result. Low traffic, but very good quality traffic remains
Please let us know more info,
Bruce

It looks like somewhere around September or October 2012 something happened. There were both Panda and Penguin updates around that time. You may want to try an overlay tool such as Panguin http://www.barracuda-digital.co.uk/panguin-tool/ to see when the dips happened. You should also see if you have old ranking data for that time period or at least compare top pages to see where the traffic was lost exactly. I'm also pretty sure you're looking at total website traffic, and not just organic traffic. This could be something as simple as you stopped running a PPC campaign at that time and what you see now is the traffic without paid advertising. Also see if anything happened with the site around that time like a redesign or a change to the url structure.

Pages on my site show No: 'noindex' detected in 'robots' meta tag. However, when I inspect the pages html, it does not show noindex. In fact, it shows index, follow. Majority of pages show the error and are not indexed by Google...Not sure why this is happening. The page below in search console shows the error above...

Image Search / sudden drop in traffic
One of our sites in Germany had a very sudden drop in traffic (starting Oct. 7th). The site gets most of it's organic traffic from Image Search. Checking in Search Console revealed that search volume for keywords increased in that period our average position is stable our click rate dropped dramatically (we double checked - searching the keyword in "anonymous mode" still showed our results for main keywords in top image positions (first 2 rows)). As an example (see attached screencopy) - keyword had clickrate of 1% (average) - dan dropped to 0.06% while the position remained stable. Germany is still using the "old" version of image search (unlike the rest of the world) - which gives the site preview rather than just the image slider when you click on a result in image search. Our first thought that this was changed - but it seems that it didn't change. Ideas what might cause this dramatic drop in click%? There have been no major technical modifications on the site for the last 2 months. thanks, Dirk GjlV8CW.jpg

Blog.furnacefilterscanada.com/ or furnacefilterscanada.com/blog/
My shopping cart does not allow to instal a WordPress blog on a sub-domain like: furnacefilterscanada.com/blog/ But I can host my blog on another server with a sub-domain like: blog.furnacefilterscanada.com In a SEO point of view is there a difference between the 2? Link juice? Page authority? Thank you, BigBlaze

404's and duplicate content.
I have real estate based websites that add new pages when new listings are added to the market and then deletes pages when the property is sold. My concern is that there are a significant amount of 404's created and the listing pages that are added are going to be the same as others in my market who use the same IDX provider. I can go with a different IDX provider that uses IFrame which doesn't create new pages but I used a IFrame before and my time on site was 3min w/ 2.5 pgs per visit and now it's 7.5 pg/visit with 6+min on the site. The new pages create new content daily so is fresh content and better on site metrics (with the 404's) better or less 404's, no dup content and shorter onsite metrics better? Any thoughts on this issue? Any advice would be appreciated

A huge drop in rankings since last 10 days, and not recovered yet.
Hi Mozzers, I have a serious topic to discuss and want help from the experts here. Our website has 6 PR and we have been consistency staying at the top for very competitive terms in the niche. Since last Friday (24th February, 2012) we have been facing massive fluctuation in the rankings for most of the keywords we are focusing on. After this fall, we checked the following details but didn’t find any serious/critical issue that might be contributing towards these fluctuations:- We analyzed Google webmaster tools, there’s no update/warning from Google regarding any negative activity and other things seem to be normal. We checked our website through site search (site: www.domain.com) and found that we haven’t lost any indexed pages and things appear normally as they used to. So, we are sure that we haven’t been banned or penalized. We also cross verified our link building and other promotional activities and we didn’t find anything suspicious that could lead to such a big fluctuation. The drop is really big, some keywords went to 5th or 6th page from top 3 position; some keywords are not in top 200 or 300 spots which were usually staying put between 5th to 10th position. We have analyzed a lot but haven’t come to know the reason why we are facing this fluctuation. Our website is 4 years old and this kind of fluctuation has happened for the first time. Has anyone faced this kind of issue before? I’m looking forward to your support in identifying this trouble. Thanks

Severe rank drop due to overwritten robots.txt
Hi, Last week we made a change to drupal core for an update to our website. We accidentally overwrote our good robots.txt that blocked hundreds of pages with the default drupal robots.txt. Several hours after that happened (and we didn't catch the mistake) our rankings dropped from mostly first, second place in Google organic to bottom and mid first page. Basically I believe we flooded the index with very low quality pages at once and threw a red flag and we got de-ranked. We have since fixed the robots.txt and have been re-crawled but have not seen a return in rank. Would this be a safe assumption of what happened? I haven't seen any other sites getting hit in the retail vertical yet in regards to any Panda 2.3 type of update. Will we see a return in our results anytime soon? Thanks, Justin
