Reports not up-to-date and competitive analysis
-
Hello everyone, I’d like to ask you a question regarding how to use Moz for competition analysis: I am assessing what the competition is doing and, at this stage, I was looking at how they built their internal link structure.
However, the data I get from Moz at times are not consistent with what I see on the actual sites. For example, I was analyzing one specific page looking at its internal links, and the report was showing a much smaller number of linking pages than there actually are and this is because the index might not have picked up the changes yet, which makes sense.
The thing is: how can I make a reliable analysis when the data I get may be outdated and a couple of months old?
Thanks

Hi Lara,
Sorry for the delay.
You're right that the string inverter page definitely has more than 12 internal links. Moz seems to have picked up on the changes now, because OSE shows 50 now. However, even that may not really be all of them because Moz's index was already small, and Rand said it might be getting even smaller soon - see http://moz.com/community/q/what-s-the-story-on-mozscape-updates
Hope that helps!
Mark

Short answer: if your data is indeed out of date, then competitive analysis based on that data isn't going to be as useful as it could be.
However, it could be that the report is just giving you different data than the data you're looking for. Can you post what report you're using and the site you're looking at so we can take a deeper look?

MOZ doesn't work for .dating and .chat domain extensions
I have been a MOZ subscriber for a few years now. I don't think MOZ works for .dating and .chat domain extensions. I have 2 sites that have authority 1 despite back links. Here are the details: https://oooo.dating > DA = 1 https://talk.chat > DA = 1 oooo has 221 links (Google search console) talk has 1317 links (Google search console) May be a MOZ staff member can look into this. If you are customer and use some of the newer domain extensions please share your details if you have the same problem.

Custom ranking report based on pages
Is it possible to generate a report that shows the keywords and position per page? For example Page xyc ranks for keyword1 - position 5, keyword2 - position 32, keyword3 - position9. I don't want to input the keywords, I want to be told via the report. I am trying to find out what SEO weight certain pages/sections of the website offer and if its OK to pull the content to change it into something else.

Are Just Discovered Links Reports Working?
I can't find my 4 month old site in Open Site Explorer. But as the site has had all of its posts tweeted I checked the Just Discovered Links reports to see if it was mentioned there. My domain is http://www.genesisclub.training but the problem is that if I target "this root domain" - I get a bunch of links that are nothing to do with my site. For example the root domain report includes sites linking to www.tinmagpie.training www.goahead.training powerquery.training http://videoproduction.training http://www.eti.training http://linkedinsales.training and more, as sites linking to my root domain. In which universe? The Just Discovered algorithm looks like it isn't coping with the .training TLD. It is treating my domain as if it were genesisclub.training.com so now anything.training is in my root domain.

Difference between Link Analysis and open site explorer
Hey, when i check my links in Link Analysis in Moz Analytics is see 45 Linking Root Domains. The manual states: " If you want to look at these pages in more depth, just click the export button. This will take you to Open Site Explorer so you can dig deeper into your link profile and export the data for review later." But when i go there, the open site explorer states i only have 31 Linking Domains. What could explain the difference?

What if all the URL's in my website reported by MoZ do not exist on my website? They existed on an old one that has now been rebuilt?

Does the inbound links report include links to all pages of the domain being researched?
If I enter 'abc.com' am I only getting results for 'abc.com' or will I get results for the internal pages of 'abc.com' as well (i.e. 'abc.com/page1.html)? There is a bit of a discrepancy between these results and inbound link results in semrush for example. Then again it seems whenever you use different tools to measure the same thing you get wildly varying results. How do you all deal with that?
