Only showing googlebot schema.org tagged content - cloaking??
-
Would it be considered cloaking if I only show schema.or tagged content to searchengine bots and not to regular visitors. Mind you, no other change on the page, design or content. So instead of
Googlebot would be served:
41 Main Street
Regular visitors:
41 Main Street

Cloaking is defined by Google as "presenting different content to users and search engines".
I recall Matt Cutts offering a geo-targeting example to further explain this issue. It's ok to show users in Canada some content, and then users from the US different content. It is not ok (i.e. would be considered cloaking) to set it up to always show Google bot the US version.
Google wants you to treat their bot as a normal user and not make any special changes for them. In your case, you are specifically showing Google bot something different then regular users, so yes it is considered cloaking.
The two points to make in the case you brought up are:
-
you are not altering "content", you are altering meta tags which the users do not see anyway and do not impact the user experience
-
there is no malicious intent. You are not doing this to deceive users or Google.
In short, yes it meets the definition of cloaking. Google specifically says offering "different" content represents cloaking. Even though you are showing "more" content, that would be a difference. If you didn't show users an H1 tagged title at the top of your page, but you showed it to Google, that would be an example where you are showing more to Google and would definitely be cloaking.
My biggest concern would be Google's automated system detecting it as cloaking then removing your pages or site from the index. You would then explain your actions through the Reconsideration Request and then Google would either accept your explanation or require a change.

Quiet the contrary..it is certainly a somewhat theoretical question and has nothing to do with css or coding.
One reason is to get an opinion on what is considered cloaking, another reason is a to assess whether giving out more information (such as microtagged content) would be detrimental not to your rankings but to your whole business. -
Why would you consider making such a change? I cannot conceive of any logical reason. The meta data involved is not seen by users.
If I was to stretch for a reason, it would be that you are not familiar with website coding and are having CSS issues?

Hi Sebes, I don't think this will be too much of a problem. Google will crack down hard on cloaking that will actually benefit your website, although sometimes you can do it by accident. This is adding no value to your website and I wouldnt worry about it too much. Always try to make your website the same for crawler + visitors it goes without saying.

Positioning H1 and H2 tags adjacent on a page without content in between
Is it best practice to separate H1 and H2 tags with P tag or other content, or is it ok to have H1 and H2 adjacent without content in between?

Canonical URL Tag Usage
I have a large website, almost 1500 pages that each market different keywords for the trucking logistics industry. I don't really understand the new Canonical URL Tag USAGE. They say to use it so the page is not a duplicate but the page that MOZ is call for to have the tag isn't a duplicate. It promotes 1 keyword that no other page directly promotes. Here is the page address, now what tag would I put up in the HEAD so google don't treat it as a duplicate page. http://www.freightetc.com/c/heavyhaul/heavyhaul.php 1. Number 1 the actual page address because I want it treated like its own page or do I have to use #2 below? 2. I don't know why I would use #2 as I want it to be its own page, and get credit and listed and ranked as its own page. Can anyone clarify this stuff to me as I guess i am just new to this whole tag usage.

301 redirected Duplicate Content, still showing up as duplicate after new crawl.
We launched a site where key landing pages were not showing up in google. After running the seomoz crawl it returned a lot of duplicate pages which may expalin this. The actual url of the page is /design and it was telling me the following were dupes: /design/family-garden-design
On-Page Optimization | | iterate
/design/small-garden-design
/design/large-rural-garden-design
/Design All of these URL's were in fact pointing to the /design landing page. I 301 redirected all of the pages so they all now resolve to /design After running another crawl the day after doing this it's still showing up as duplicate content on seomoz. Does seomoz evaluate the new changes right away?0 -
Schema.org for a rental site with more than one apartment per address
I am looking for advices on how to best start adopting schema.org for an apartment rental site with more than one apartment per address. I would like to get feedback and suggestions on my initial thoughts. Here are the obvious ones: http://schema.org/Place for the address of the building an apartment is in. http://schema.org/ApartmentComplex for the unique page for each apartment. Any thoughts or experiences you would like to share? Thanks, Adrien O'Leary

My text does not show up in Google
Hi there. I've got an urgent question I hope someone can help me with. I've made a website (www.tonyharrismakingcents.com.au) with a few content pages. I don't get a lot of traffic. All my pages are scrawled and I don't see any errors. However, when I copy an entire paragraph and Google it, it does not show up in the search results. This makes me believe that the pages are not scrawled correctly. Only when I search for the exact paragraph by putting it between "", the website shows up on the results page. What can be the reason for this? Thanks for your help..It's much appreciated.

Do Schema.org changes impact local SEO
I've reviewed the various presentation and blog posts from SMX advanced regarding local SEO and I didn't see any mention of Schema.org and microformats. Has any research or case studies been presented supporting that implementation of Schema.org microformats will improve local results? Here is one example where I've implemented the basics in the address info of the footer. http://bit.ly/lZQYeg Any tips on how to further optimize with schema.org markup?
