International SEO with 27 TLD`s
-
Hi Guys!
Would like to have your expert opinion on the structure of a big international company.
They are active over 27 regions, with all their own local TLD website.
Some of them are translated, but most of them are in English (big duplicated content, you know it).Next to that they have a webshop on 4 subdomains of theses 27 local TLD's.
In my opinion it would be best to merge them all back to the .com domain and set-up a 301 redirect for all local TLD`s.
However what is your opinion on these 4 webshops? should I make them in the following structure : .com/region/shop (for example .com/fr/shop)Thanks for the feedback!
Kind Regards
S.

Hi S.
Good issue you have here. I agree with your sentiment below, if you can't maintain separate ccTLDs, they might not be right for you. I am not saying don't do it, as a ccTLD is a strong signal still, but if it doesn't work for you, the structure you mentioned works just fine.
Just to make sure you have the right structure though, can you visit my tool here, answer the questions, and let me know what the result is? It's the best way I have found for determining international site structure.
Once you have that, we can discuss what the right structure is for you.

Hi there
You will still need to differentiate the content on the website based on the location and language you are trying to capture, regardless if it's on the same site or not. If you sort the site, even then you will still need to categorize content. For example:
www.example.com
www.example.com/uk/
www.example.com/fr/
www.example.com/es/
www.example.com/ru/
etc.or
es.example.com
fr.example.com
ru.example.com
etc. That being said, look into the information that I sent prior as this will help you structure your site and tell search engines where section targets what audience - UK english and US english are still two different languages in crawlers eyes as they are two different regions with two different audiences.
Good luck!

Hi Patrick,
Thank you for your input.
Local listings are not really important.
The main goal is to increase online visibility for all regions.
The market is not really competitive.
Hardest part will be to manage all regions centrally as they do not have the manpower nor budget to optimize each cctld.Next to that there will be no difference in the us website and the uk website so it will be hard to use canonical lang tags for that.
I was thinking of putting them all under the .com domain and sort them by language.kr

Hi there
Ideally, if you have different regions, you should have different areas of your site dedicated to that region. I would focus on the following items:
Use hreflang for language and regional URLs (Google)
International SEO (Moz)
International SEO Checklist (Moz)
How to Tell Bing Your Website's Country and Language (Bing)Do not merge and 301 redirect, that is a bad user experience, especially if you have local listing links.
Also, set up individual Webmaster Tools for each section and look to Country Target those sections.
Let me know if you have any questions or comments - good luck!

Are Their Any SEO Dangers When Cleaning Up a Site
I'm doing some housekeeping on my website. Removing old blogs that are out of date (2008) or things have moved on. The blogs I'm removing are being 301'd to relevant newer blogs. Can this type of clean up cause any problems that affect the optimisation of a site? Looking forward to hearing your views. Christina

Help needed for a 53 Page Internal Website Structure & Internal Linking
Hey all... I'm designing the structure for a website that has 53 pages. Can you take a look at the attached diagram and see if the website structure is ok? On the attached diagram I have numbered the pages from 1 to 53, with 1 being the most important home page - 2,3,4,5, being the next 4 important pages - 6,7,8... 15,16,17 being the 3rd set of important pages, and 18,19,20..... 51,52,53 being the last set of pages which are the easiest to rank. I have two questions: Is the website structure for this correct? I have made sure that all pages on the website are reachable. Considering the home page, and page number 2,3,4,5 are the most important pages - I am linking out to these pages from the the last set of pages (18,29,20...51,52,53). There are 36 pages in the last set - and out of this 36, from 24 of them I am linking back to home page and page number 2,3,4,5. The remaining 8 pages of the 36 will link back to pages 6,7,8...15,16,17. In total the most importnat page will have the following number of internal incoming links: Home Page : 25 Pages 2,3,4,5 : 25 Pages 6,7,8...15,16,17 : 4 Pages 18,19,20...51,52,53 : 1 Is this ok considering home page, and pages 2,3,4,5 are the most important? Or do you think I should divide and give more internal links to the other pages also? If you can share any inputs or suggestions to how I can improve this it will greatly help me. Also if you know any references for good guides to internal linking of websites greater that 50 pages please share them in the answers. Thank you all! Internal Javascript Links
Hi, We have a client who has internal links pointing to some relatively new pages that we asked them to implement. The problem is that instead of using standard HTML links, their developers have used javascript - e.g. javascript:GoTo... The new pages have links from the homepage (among others) and have been live for about 3-4 weeks now - yet are still to be indexed by Google, Bing & Yahoo. Is it possibe that Javascript links are making them difficult to be found? Thanks in advance for any tips.

Predictive SEO
Hello all, I am trying to perform a predictive competitive SEO analysis to estimate what I will need to do to surpass my competitors. I am unsure of how to do this and would like some advice or link to an article. What I am trying to do is predict where I can rank in three months, six months and one year as well as what I need to do compared to my competitors. Specifically also to estimate how many links I would need to acquire to both my page as well as domain. I have already pulled my competitors domain links, page links, and age. Adam

Page Titles SEO Title
Hi, I run an e-commerce store and within the CMS I define the SEO title, SEO description and SEO keywords for each item. I spoke to a SEO firm who advised me to start every product title with the colour, as this will reduce the duplicate page titles and serve me well in the future. Whats everyones view on this? Does naming something Grey Armani Jeans | Armani Jeans from Designer Boutique stand up better against Armani Jeans Grey | Armani Jeans from Designer Boutique? Any help or tips on how to format the page titles and descriptions would be great. Thanks Will
