RSS feed issue
-
My Wordpress blog RSS feed is not working correctly and I can't figure why. This is the error I am getting in my sidebar where the RSS feed used to work properly. My Blog is http://www.seadwellers.com/key-largo-diving-blog/
RSS Error: This XML document is invalid, likely due to invalid characters. XML error: not well-formed (invalid token) at line 274, column 32
Any insight would be appreciated greatly!

Ok - wasn't willing to let this go until I could definitively track down the issue. I've never come across this before.
Rob, you've somehow managed to get a Unicode Escape character entered at the beginning of one of your paragraphs in your "Photography Series Part 1 Picking your Camera" post. This character is invisible to the reader, but because it's considered an invalid XML character, your RSS feed (which is just a specifically formatted XML file) is erroring out, as you noted.
To fix this, you're going to have to go back into your WordPress dashboard to edit that post.
Scroll to the second paragraph in the Smart Phone section that begins "You can buy a waterproof housing..."
Place your cursor at the beginning of the word "buy" and then use your backspace key to delete all the way back to the word "plenty" in the paragraph before.
- Then hit the Enter key to create the new paragraph, and retype the words you've deleted in that "You can buy..." sentence.
- Then retype the words into the end of the previous sentence.
- Then, click Update to save the new version of the post.
Believe it or not, that should fix the RSS feed validation problem.
Now, the next issue will be that many places where the RSS is used will cache the feed (i.e. store a copy of it) The only way to bust/refresh that cache will be to publish another post, so the cached version gets updated to show the new post and the fix to the old post.
If you are adding the RSS feed somewhere it hasn't been used before (e.g. to a newly created sidebar widget) it should be pulling the corrected version of the feed and work as expected.
Hope all that makes sense - if not, just holler. Sorry for all the previous confusion as I tried to work out what was actually happening.

[Ignore the original suggestion below - the fix required more research]
Rob, on your blog post titled Photography Series Part 1, Picking the Right Camera, the first subhead is "Which Camera is Right for you? Sea Dwellers Dive Center of Key Largo..."
Try removing the extra space after the question mark and before the words Sea Dwellers.
[EDITED TO ADD: Also remove the exclamation mark from the alt tag (alt="Dive and shoot!") for the associated photo.]
Then you'll have to clear the site's cache if it has one to clear any RSS cache.
Lemme know how you get on.

Sea Dwellers Dive Center of Key Largo -
Hi Rob
I don't currently see the error on that page, and do not see an RSS feed linked in your source code - did something change or can you provide more info? The URL to your RSS feed if possible?
Thanks!

Unsolved Question about a Screaming Frog crawling issue
Hello, I have a very peculiar question about an issue I'm having when working on a website. It's a WordPress site and I'm using a generic plug in for title and meta updates. When I go to crawl the site through screaming frog, however, there seems to be a hard coded title tag that I can't find anywhere and the plug in updates don't get crawled. If anyone has any suggestions, thatd be great. Thanks!

I am having an issue with my rankings
I am having an issue with my rankings. I am not sure if there are issues with onpage dup content or with the way wordpress is behaving but there is no reason based upon the sites back link profile that the site shouldn't be ranking well. The site is mesocare.org. If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

Product Documentation Causing 23-40K issues
One of my biggest hurdles at my company is our Product Documentation library, which houses thousands of pages of publicly accessible and indexed content on old and new versions of our product. Every time a product name changes the URL changes, causing a 404, so I typically have 100s of 404s every few months from this site. It's housed off our main domain. We have 23,000+ Duplicate Pages, 40,000 missing meta descriptions, and 38,000 due to this library. It is not built the same as our main content, with page titles and meta descriptions, so everything is defaulted and duplicate. I'm trying to make a case that this is an issue, especially as we migrate our site next year to a new CMS. Does anyone have any suggestions for dealing with this issue in the short term and long term? Is it worth asking the owners of the section of content to develop page titles and meta descriptions on 40,000 pieces of content? They do not see the value of SEO and the issues this can cause. It needs to be publicly accessible, but it's not highly ranked content. It's really for customers who want to know more about the product. But I worry it is hurting other parts of our site, with the absurd amount of duplicate content, meta, and page title issues.

Product Duplicate Content Issue with Google Shopping
I have a site with approx 20,000 products. These products are resold to hundreds of other companies and are fed from one database therefore the content is duplicated many many times. To overcome this, we are launching the site with noindex meta tags on all product pages. (In phase 2 we will begin adding unique content for every product eek) However, we still want them to appear in Google Shopping. Will this happen or will it have to wait until we remove the noindex tags?

Geotargeting issue
Hi, So ive just starting working on a travel website and noticed that the .com website outranks the com.au in Australian SERPS, even though the .au site has been geotargeted (In GWT) for Australia.I also geotargeted the .com website to Canada (the primary place of business). Is this advisable? Will this affect rankings?

How to change URL of RSS Feed?

I have tried delaying the RSS feed but I think this affected google rankings. My question is, is there a way to change the URL of my RSS Feed? From: http://www.mysite.com/feed to http://www.mysite.com/feed2

Any issues with lots of pages issuing 301 redirects?
Hi all, I'm working on a site redesign and it is possible the new site could issue a lot of 301 redirects as we may migrate from one forum solution to another. Is there any issue with crawlers getting a lot of 301 redirects from a site? Thanks Nick

Re-direct issues
Forgive me for the novice question. But I was recently looking at open site explorer and was checking out my site www.visualawards.com , I know we have a re-direct to www.visualawards.com/home.php . After checking both URL's, I found that I have links pointing to both. Is this bad, am I diluting the links? If yes, which one should I point the future ones to, and is there anyway to recover the current links already? Thanks again for your help!!!
