Why are links not being added to my Domain Authority
-
I have just compared my domain authority with competitors and I can see that they are outscoring me on links from YouTube etc. Even though I have same set-up with regard YouTube and Squidoo etc and am also featured on Dmoz... these are not being added to my domain authority. Any ideas?

Hey Ryan... sorry to have shattered your illusion... lol!
Aaron was making me feel special so I guess we're both dumped! Haha...
Yeah, I'm new to all this in all hinesty but it still didn't make mcuh sense to me as like you say, it would be prety unlucky to have all my 'important' and highly ranked links fall within/without the 25% realm... its just confusing that one month I am above my competitors with regards the stats and then the next I am not because of 'missing' links. I'll keep an eye on it though and see what happens next time.
Thanks
M

The links are all pretty old (years as opposed to months) and were showing last time I checked in on SeoMoz (about a month ago) so I can't understand why they would just drop off...
-
How old are your links? It can take 2-3 months for new links to appear visible to Linkscape.

Big drop in Domain authority : Languages school in Brazil
Hi, I notice today strange update on the DA of our website and competitors website as well. caminhoslanguages.com (our website) : drop from 26 to 19 bridgebrazil.com聽: drop from 29 to 26 rioandlearn.com : drop from 19 to 14 carioca-languages.com : drop from 22 to 15 DA drop affect all website, but聽bridgebrazil.com less than the other. bridgebrazil is close now. the website is rank first, but it is a business that no longer exist. thay rank first, only because it belong to an international company that have other languages schools in different countries, providing them a huge based of links high DA. Sorry to tell you, with this new update you totally miss the point. In which sense does the DA represent the quality of the websites ?? Is it not fair for small school, trying hard to get excelent website to get penalized like this, because it is really hard for them to get link from very high PA pages you know ? Could somebody give explication? If you would like to improve your algorithms, I would suggest to reduce the values of the links from companies internal linking. Because it provide unfair advantage for small business.

Link juice from links that are not on the page?
Hello, Thank you in advance for your help! I was doing research for backlinking opportunities by looking at competitor backlinks using Open Site Explorer and I ran into a puzzle. When I do an Open Site Explorer search for聽http://whatsdavedoing.com/ I find that link equity is being passed to the site from a number of pages on the聽http://www.travelsupermarket.com/ blog with the anchor text "What's Dave Doing" When I go to these pages and do a source code search I cannot find this anchor text. When I do a google search with the following: site:travelsupermarket.com "What's Dave Doing" I find that there are tons of items that come back with a list of blogs in their description: "Dec 5, 2013 -聽...聽foXnoMad 路 Inside The Travel Lab 路 itravelnet 路 The Mad Traveler Blog 路 The Mad Traveler Online 路 Uncornered Market 路聽What's Dave Doing?" Where is this coming from? What is going on here? Is this a linking tactic that sites use to pass link juice to contributors without linking to them directly? Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

Subdomain vs Root Domain Metrics
My site has everything in the root - test.com. 聽 www.test.com is redirected to test.com and all content is in the root; there are no subdomains. So I'm completely confused as to how the mozrank and moztrust are different. 聽They have the same number of links yet: Subdomain: MozRank - 3.72
Competitive Research | | Optimise
MozTrust - 3.23 Root Domain: MozRank - 3.05
MozTrust - 2.79 This seems聽consistent聽with all my competitors too so just wondered if someone could explain why the root domain is usually/often lower? 聽Surely the root domain numbers should always be equal to or higher than the subdomain?0 -

How does OSE count Total Links?
I'm trying out Market Samurai & OSE for gauging SEO competition. When I try both the tools for giving backlink count for a specific page then I'm seeing remarkable difference. Hence I need to know how OSE calculates "Total Links" for a page & how can we be sure that it is true?

SEO Strategy Questions on an International Domain
I'm going to try not to get too wordy with my question. 聽Any help that could be provided would be much appreciated! We recently purchased a Germany-based company. 聽They were using two domains (possibly聽more) for their website. 聽Domain1聽and Domain2. 聽I'm sure for duplicate content reasons, only Domain1 ranked well. We in the US wanted to use Domain2, as it contains the brand name and would add legitimacy to our website in the US. 聽Problem is that they also wanted to use it in Germany. 聽So we split it using GeoDNS. 聽Any international traffic goes to their server. 聽Any US/Canada traffic goes to ours. From what I've read, we in the US should have the advantage here in terms of getting our pages indexed on Google, because Google will crawl from the US. 聽So to Google, it should be as if we've changed all of our URLs. The problem is that Google has not recognized these changes for our homepage and it has been about a month since I submitted a sitemap and changed our geo-targeting to the US in Webmaster tools. 聽They've picked up other pages of ours, but the Title and Meta descriptions for the homepage are in German still. 聽We also rank about 23rd for our own brand name. 聽Bing and Yahoo have picked up the changes without issue and we rank 2nd for our brand name. My other issue is that the old distributor in the US (whom we have replaced) is ranking first for our brand name. 聽I'm working on increasing our inbound links, but is there anything else I could be doing to jump ahead of them in the rankings? Any tips would be appreciated. 聽Thanks!

I develop a IA like this: www.dvdumwandeln.com/dvd-in-avi-umwandeln/ . Here the domain will give any value to the keyword dvd in avi umwandeln ( if we have the domain dvdumwandeln.com )? I hope I did explain it well... If I do it, its a good SEO pratice, is this going to really boost my keywords? Thanks for trying to understand my explaination

Blog Comment Links
Hi everyone! Using the Open Site Explorer tool I can see many of my competitors leave blog comments which (according to the tool) are providing link value to their sites. This seems like something that can easily be used in a black hat sort of way. My question is this - Is leaving comments on blogs an effective way of generating positive links to my site? Adrian
