Internal Links Catalog (too many links)
-
I have several car catalogs that I use to direct my customers to the parts for their vehicle.
Example:http://www.mikesfuel.com/Acura_c_69.html
My customers like the approach. They can easily find their vehicle, then scan the columns for the parts that they need. Each part number is a link and the part numbers are sometimes posted several times in one column. All of the links are internal to the web site.
My fear is that this is going to be treated as a link farm.
I have considered using a PDF catalog with links, but that is going to be hugely expensive.
What do you think?
Thanks for any help

Hi there
As long as your internal link structure is natural and your information architecture is natural, I wouldn't be too concerned. From the sound of things, all of these links fall into relevant categories for their respective brands and models.
One thing I would be on the look out though, depending on how your URL structure is set up, are potential duplicate content issues. I would run through that resource with your web development team and try to tackle any of those you see, if they exist.
Google can pass equity through PDFs, but I would be careful, because at the end of the day, just make sure your user experience is the best it could possibly be for your audience. If you want to learn more about optimizing PDFs, check out this resource from Search Engine Journal.
Lastly, I would run a comb through your on-site SEO - your title tags could use some work and you could also optimize your eCommerce experience as well. InFlow has a lot of great resources for this sort of thing if you want some reading and ideas.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

Bad to have "As Seen on" links sitewide
I've seen a lot of people saying that sidewide external links are a no-go. Does this also apply to links of a vanity variety? What I mean by this is "as seen on" links or links to awards given to the business? This intellectually seems okay to me, but I want to make sure I'm not shooting myself in the foot. Any evidence, case studies, anecdotal stories would be appreciated!

Link juice/PR to social media platforms
Hi, Do you know if Google gives as much link juice/PR to social media platforms (when linking to them from a website), as the give to perhaps another internal/external link? The thought is: As Google is getting more intelligent and gives social media that much value in SERP, would the pass on/through link juice to the social media. Hope my question is understandable. Thks.

Spammy link for each keyword
Some people believe that having a link for each keyword and a page of content for each keyword (300+ words) can help ranking for those keywords. However, the old approach of having "restaurant New York", "restaurant Buffalo", "restaurant Newark" approach has become seen as a terrible SEO practice. I don't know whether this was because it's spammy or because people usually combined it with thin content that was 95% duplicate. Which brings us to; http://hungryhouse.co.uk/ Why does such a major company have the following on the site (see the footer); Aberdeen Takeaway Birmingham Takeaway Brighton Takeaway Bristol Takeaway Cambridge Takeaway Canterbury Takeaway Cardiff Takeaway Coventry Takeaway Edinburgh Takeaway Glasgow Takeaway Leeds Takeaway Leicester Takeaway Liverpool Takeaway London Takeaway Manchester Takeaway Newcastle Takeaway Nottingham Takeaway Sheffield Takeaway Southampton Takeaway York Takeaway Indian Takeaway Chinese Takeaway Thai Takeaway Italian Takeaway Cantonese Takeaway Pizza Delivery Sushi Takeaway Kebab Takeaway Fish and Chips Sandwiches Do they know something I don't? SEOmoz tells me that I have too many links, however most of them are comments...
Is this affecting the overall ranking of the page? http://www.smileclinic.sk/zubne-implantaty/ (164) http://www.smileclinic.sk/zubne-korunky/ (179) If so how can I disallow them? We use Wordpress with the Joost SEO plugin, but I don't see a disallow option there for comments...

Internal linking best practice
See example: car rental - sedans - bmw car rental - sedans - audi car rental - sedans - ford (internal links to sedans - audi, ford) or (internal links to suv - bmw) car rental - suv - bmw car rental - suv - audi car rental - suv - ford (internal links to suv- audi, ford) or (internal links to sedans- bmw...) Should I cross link only between the product page under each category or can I link between different products under different categories? From a user point of view, I think it will give him more options if he wants to choose the same brand but a bigger vehicle although I have read numerous posts saying that we should be internally linking most of the time within the same category. User experience or SEO?

Correct use of Canonical link vs 301 redirect
Hi All, Seeking yet more advice. SEOMOZ tools have told me I have duplicate content on one of my sites and I am keen to clean this up. I am not to familiar with the following so thought I would ask. The duplicate content is shown on : www.mysite.com www.mysite.com/index.html Obviously I only see index.html when I check the code so what is the best method of resolving the duplicate content, Canonical or 301? Can you give me an example 🙂 Thanks all
