Youtube video or not
-
We have a website full of introduction video's that are viewable in youtube on the website. Is that good for my SEO rankings? Or should i consider placing my video direct on the website without using youtube?
Thanks!

I'm also looking to improve upon branding for my site barcodefactory using videos to do some branding...I'm very interested in this topic.
We have a Youtube channel for the same purposes of using the traffic to generate some branding attention...just can't beat Youtube's audience over trying to go this alone via your own domain.

Rebecca is right that YouTube is a bad traffic driver, but is is pretty solid for discovery of evergreen videos. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "introduction" videos, but if the are product intros or how-tos, then YouTube is great for that.
Plus, hosting videos on your own is going to strangle the load time of your site which will crush your SEO.

Thanks! First i'm going to optimize my channel for our brand.

Are you wanting these videos to drive traffic to your site? If so, then YouTube is not going to be the answer as it's pretty terrible as a traffic driver. I would host on site if at all possible. Maybe throw them up on YouTube because why not, but more for brand awareness than for SEO.

Hi there
What I would do is put your videos on YouTube and optimize them there. I would put videos here due to the searching capabilities, YouTube's daily traffic, and also being able to optimize your channel to your brand.
I would look video hosting options for your website, as well. Here is a great list from GoAnimate.
I personally like Wistia for the following reasons:
- Customization
- Branding
- Calls to action
- Awesome heatmapping & engagement graphs
- Sitemap generation
- Integration with other tools
- Rand also uses it for Whiteboard Friday
Hope this helps! Good luck!

Landing page video scripts - duplicate content concerns
we are planning to create a series of short (<30 sec) videos for landing pages for our clients PPC campaigns. Since our clients all offer the same services (except in different geographical regions of the county) - we were planning to use the SAME script ( approx 85 words) with only the clients business name changed. Our question is : Would these videos be identified as 'duplicate content' - if we are only planning to use the videos on landing pages and only for PPC? -in other words are we in any danger of any kind of consequences from the engines for repeating script text across a series of landing pages featured only at PPC campaigns?

Youtube SEO Best Practices
Does anyone know where to find a list of SEO best practices for Youtube? Specifically...does anyone have thoughts on the SEO benefits of an @domain.com login vs @gmail.com login? Or is adding my url to the "Associated website" channel setting sufficient for SEO purposes?

YouTube & Google + Pages
Hello, Has anyone had luck associating their Google + business page with their YouTube channel? Our YouTube page is associated with our Google + profile (and we would like it to be associated with the Google + business page.) There are numerous articles out there that Google is working on an update to allow the Channel/Google+ business page association but I am wondering if there is news we might have missed. Or if there is a way to get around it? We want to implement video on some site pages and would rather use YouTube code as opposed to customizing a solution. Do most folks think Google will have an easy solution once it at arrives? Meaning if you upload videos to your channel that is currently associated with the profile page, do you think there will be a way to convert everything over to a Google + business page once they unveil an update. Thank you!

Does adding a YouTube video to a page decrease site speed?
If you embed a YouTube video on your page, does Google count that as part of their site speed calculation. Since it is in a iFrame, I would think that it is not counted.

Video Sitemaps - Clarification Needed
I'm trying to make sense of video sitemaps so I can get one up and going but the set up seems unclear. We currently have 7 videos created and up on Youtube. I've got them embedded on the site to a "Video" landing page as well as having these product demo videos embedded on appropriate product detail pages. So when setting up the video sitemap it looks like I'll be using the video:player_loctag as opposed to video:content_locbecause I'm not linking to the file itself but rather a page it's hosted on. Correct? Additionally I'm adding the product detail page url here, not Youtube right? Lastly, do I need to insert an autoplay piece on the videos on the product detail page? I feel that would be an annoying user experience.</video:content_loc></video:player_loc> So part of my sitemap might look like this... <video:player_loc allow_embed="yes" autoplay="ap=[?]">http://website/ProductDetailURL</video:player_loc>
