Good to Internal Link from Old Blog Posts?
-
I am working on a site which has good amount of content pages & blogposts. All blog posts & content pages have been indexed in google already since a long time. Will this be a good practice if I internally link to new pages from old pages or a few important pages from those old indexed content pages?
-
Yes.. Same logic applies in this scenario.
-
It actually vice-versa. Linking new posts in old post as anchors? Linking in already indexed pages to new pages as keywords as anchor tags (secondary keywords) by editing the old posts.
-
Hey Jawahar,
Yes, it's a good practice to boost the old pages again and help the users to navigate more pages of your website. I would recommend the following things:
- For finding the old pages, don't rely on your site's search bar only rather go to analytics and check which pages in past performed well in terms of traffic, conversions and bounce rate.
- When you have those pages, check if you can link them in your new posts. If the information is outdated, update with the latest info or add some cool images.
- You can link them either on the anchor texts or as the "Related or Recommended Read" with link on the complete post title. Same thing as Entrepreneur.com does.
Hope this helps!

Hi,
Yes, why not ? If you think that will help your users you should. Dont worry about search engine. Worry about your reader and what related links they need while reading your article. Dont just build link for the sake of Search Engines.
Hope it answers.

Huge problem : All our Internal Links Dropped from 9.000 to 0.What happened?
Hi, I just noticed a huge large problem in our rankings. Our rankings suddenly dropped for more than 50 %. Of course, I immediately started to research the issue. And under Links, I found that we somehow lost all of our internal links! They have dropped from 9k to 0. Now, I am sure that we do have some internal links on our site ( since I put them there myself). Could you please tell me what is going on and how I can fix this issue? Our site is 1solarsolution.com and I will also attach screenshots bellow from Link Explorer, thank you. Fr08UGe

Link Types For Link Building
Hi i have a SEO agency we work with who are building quality guest post links for us, however they are also building forum, profile, blog comments
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | spyaccounts14
and directory based links. 60% of their links they are building are high quality, relevant guest posts while the other 40% are the other link types. The 40% seem to be relevant directories, forums, blog comments, etc. They said they build other link types because it diversifies the link building and profile rather then just building high quality guest posts. As just building one link type can leave a footprint. What are your thoughts on this? Cheers.0 -
Are these Bad Internal Links/Anchor Text?
Hi my site www.over50choices.co.uk is 4 months old and I wondered whether my "Quick Links" section (right hand column) on 95% of my pages with the same/similar anchor text was not best practice ie should I vary the anchor text & the target locations more? ( they tend to point to my top 6 pages) They were set up originally to make the customer experience easy to find things but from what i have read Google doesnt like too many links looking the same ! I also have 3 Graphics (cross sales messages) just above the foot of most (not the home page) pages, linking to my 3 key value pages, all with similar Alt Text tags, again should i vary the alt text or is not a good idea to have this type of link on every page? What is best practice, as i am trying to balance the visual/customer experience whilst optimising for search? Thanks

Old links showing on new domain
Last year we incurred a Google penalty and after months of trying the clean up the link profile with no joy we relaunched the site with a .org rather than .co.uk Now the issue is that 2 weeks after the launch GWMT is showing all the old links pointing to the new url. We didn't do a redirect of any kind, just changed the url Why is this????

Wordpress Blogs and SEO
So far we have been creating separate blogs on wordpress.com for our sites, and writing there. Today I was told that there was better SEO hosting the blog on the actual domain. i.e. www.widgets.com/blog instead of widget.wordpress.com Is this true? Oddly I have had my WP beat my own URL on one account. So I am not sure if this is valid. Can someone tell me pros and cons of both? Thanks!

When to put a blog post and when an article in the articles section?
Hi All, I was wondering when I should write something as a post in my blog and when I should simply add an article in my articles section? What are the advantages of each way? Thanks

How should I handle these links?
I recently purchased a site which is in the same niche as my personal blog. MANY of the keywords which I want both sites to rank for, they are already ranking well for (Eg I rank #1 with one site and #5 for the other). I haven't started linking the two sites to each other yet (waiting to announce the acquisition before I do). I have 2 questions for you all... How powerful do you think linking between these sites could be? How do you think I should handle the linking between these two sites?

Google, Links and Javascript
So today I was taking a look at http://www.seomoz.org/top500 page and saw that the AddThis page is currently at the position 19. I think the main reason for that is because their plugin create, through javascript, linkbacks to their page where their share buttons reside. So any page with AddThis installed would easily have 4/5 linbacks to their site, creating that huge amount of linkbacks they have. Ok, that pretty much shows that Google doesn´t care if the link is created in the HTML (on the backend) or through Javascript (frontend). But heres the catch. If someones create a free plugin for wordpress/drupal or any other huge cms platform out there with a feature that linkbacks to the page of the creator of the plugin (thats pretty common, I know) but instead of inserting the link in the plugin source code they put it somewhere else, wich then is loaded with a javascript code (exactly how AddThis works). This would allow the owner of the plugin to change the link showed at anytime he wants. The main reason for that would be, dont know, an URL address update for his blog or businness or something. However that could easily be used to link to whatever tha hell the owner of the plugin wants to. What your thoughts about this, I think this could be easily classified as White or Black hat depending on what the owners do. However, would google think the same way about it?
