Google + and Google Knoladge Graph
-
I am trying to get things to match up for the company brand websearch and the Google + page and we have had it for years now
The knowledge graph on Google is showing the map, address and name (shown in attached image), but is not linked to a G+ page, as when i click the "Are you the business owner?" its is trying to make me create a new G+ business page. Anyone have any ideas on this?
Also does the wiki name have to be exact for it to show?
As for phone number would that be coming from the DNS record as that is nowhere in the markup rich snippet or normal markup
Thanks in advance

You're very welcome, David, and good luck!

Hi David,
This is one of those questions that it is really difficult to resolve in an informal forum. These types of things can require logging into dashboards, doing a lot of research etc. Now, you've already taken the direct route of trying to show this to Google. I recommend 2 things:
-
If you don't see the issue resolve within 2 weeks of speaking to Google reps, call them again.
-
If that doesn't work, take this to the Google help forum (https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/business), be prepared to share all information and make a serious plea for a TC or staffer to assist you there.
-
If neither of these methods work, hire a heavy hitting SEO as a consultant. He/she may need to dig deep, given the fact that Google pulls data from a variety of sources, meaning that there can be so many variables in a case like this.

So yesterday started a chat with Ad words in Dublin (who couldn't be more helpful) the woman Arlene gave me link to email Google in CA so i did expecting a phone call from them in CA but instead just off the phone with someone from a call center ion India who didn't have a clue. He didn't understand the fact i have 2 local pages, one showing in search knowledge graph (no content just contact info which i a page they created because there silly algorithm is terrible) and the other (one we have used, verified, mapped etc.. for over a year) he didn't under stand the fact if i delete the one we have used for over a year then we loose the content. And if i delete the other one i loose the search stuff. his solution was just to delete one. God knows who trains these people as this must happen daily with them creating pages randomly because there algorithm feels like it

Hey Chris,
Thank you so much, didn't notice that tiny link. Anyways, have shared the feedback with them now. I hope this will soon get fixed.
-

I am going to try get on a chat with google later on today when there chat opens, Will let use know how i get on
Thanks

If you've got two local pages it gets a bit more complicated, you can mark one (the new one i assume) as duplicated which should mean its deleted, I was under the impression you had a brand page and were attempting to claim a local page, you can see some more info on an older post here - https://moz.com/community/q/can-a-google-local-listing-be-merged-with-a-goolge-page
You can also see more information here - https://support.google.com/business/answer/6010825?hl=en This should enable you to set your primary page.
Hope some of that helps.

Hi Chris,
I accepted the other page and now have 2.
Both pages are verified local, is there a way to merge the two of them?
Thanks
David

Hello Nittin,
See the "feedback" button under the box and to the right, that should help you tell Google its the wrong info, you can also try to build your brand to be bigger than the trio which will also help.
Hi David,
is your Google plus page a Google plus page or a Google plus and Google local as unfortunately to gain the little map shenanigans you need a Google local page which you would have to create, you would then need to combine the two pages, your existing one would be become a "backup" but all the links and goodness would be transferred. Its frustrating but a bit of a necessity, It sucks that there are difference parts to Google plus/local etc.
You can see a step by step here- https://www.hallaminternet.com/2014/merge-google-brand-page-google-local-page/ though you can also find other resources if you need to via Google search.
The hone number should update with the Google local when(if) you create it.
Hope that helps.

I have the same doubt, when I search for "askme" which is the company I work for, its showing the wrong wiki page link which talks about a female trio from Chicago Illinois (PFA the screenshot).
How can I tell google to not link that wiki page with our brand?

Website is not indexed in Google
Hi Guys, I have a problem with a website from a customer. His website is not indexed in Google (except for the homepage). I could not find anything that can possibly be the cause. I already checked the robots.txt, sitemap, and plugins on the website. In the HTML code i also couldn't find anything which makes indexing harder than usual. This is the website i am talking about: http://www.xxxx.nl/ (Dutch) The only thing that i am guessing now is the Google sandbox, but even that is quite unlikely. I hope you guys discover something i could not find! Thanks in advance 🙂

Google Dropping Pages After SEO Clean Up
I have been using SEOmoz to clear errors from a site. There
Technical SEO | | Andy56
were over 10,000 errors to start with. Most of these were duplicate content, duplicate titles and too many links on a page. Most of the duplicate errors have now been
cleared. This has been done in two weeks (down to around 3000 errors now). But instead of improving my rankings, pages that were on the second page of Google have started to drop out of the listings altogether. The pages that are dropping out
are not related to the duplicate problems and get A grades when I run SEOmoz
page reports. Can you clean up too much too quickly or is there likely to be another reason for it?0 -

Multiple Google Places listings under review
I have a client with a waste removal business who had multiple listings on his Google Places account for different service locations. Over the last four months I have been creating separate listings for each separate service location, each under a different Google account and with a unique business name, address, phone number and website URL. They have all been verified by postcard and listed separately in local directories so that they have citations. As I have been creating the new listings I have also been deleted the old ones to make sure they are not flagged as duplicates. 2 months ago all the listings in the client's Google Places account were placed under review. I made some changes and submitted it for re-review but no go with Google. Now all the new listings I set up have also suddenly been placed under review. About a week ago I noticed that information in two separate Google Places listings was being mixed up - for example, the website URL for one listing was being shown in another listing. There is no connection between these two listings other than that they were both set up from the same IP address so this seems very strange. I reported this to Google and asked them to sort it out, then all of a sudden I found that ALL of the new listings had been placed under review. So now my client has no active listings at all. He can't afford to wait another 2 months for Google to review all the listings again so I am wondering whether the best course of action would just be to delete everything and start over. Any advice would be most welcome!

Google Off/On Tags
I came across this article about telling google not to crawl a portion of a webpage, but I never hear anyone in the SEO community talk about them. http://perishablepress.com/press/2009/08/23/tell-google-to-not-index-certain-parts-of-your-page/ Does anyone use these and find them to be effective? If not, how do you suggest noindexing/canonicalizing a portion of a page to avoid duplicate content that shows up on multiple pages?

Google rankings tanked....Now what?
We just experience a drop in Google rankings, some pretty harsh, across all of the keywords we have been ranking greater than 50. I’m a noob at SEO, but a technical noob so I started doing my home work. I’ve seen references to the “google dance” and “Honeymoon”, but this hit seems to have effected competitors too. Everyone seems re-ranked with several junk directories jumping up more than I think they should. Has anyone else seen this? Is this more Google algorithm adjustment or a natural settling based on our new SEO attempts? In either case, what should we do next? I know there is a holistic approach and everything is important however, we need bang for the buck at this point to before we start bleeding. One or two next steps? Our industry is residential cleaning and the site is www.bitabliss.com Here is a little history:
Technical SEO | | BitABliss
The site that’s been running for about 2 years. We initially put up a very basic “throw something up” site without much thought of SEO except for some basics and a long tail approach with a blog, FaceBook and Twitter. We launched an updated site on Feb 23. with new theme and this time some, “on page” work to better hit the basics. The site structure was kept the same and we added on some more localized content in hopes to take advantage of local searches. Also, enter SEOMoz to get us tracking things (Yay MOZ). Until yesterday, we had been doing pretty well in some of our target cites even with the more basic site. When we launched the new site focusing on page titles, descriptions and page content, and a few directory attempts. We started to see some incremental growth. It seemed to me that this kind of growth meant that we were doing the right things and doing a better job than some of the other sites. Any way, yesterday we got smacked down. This seems too harsh for a for the slow increases we have seen over the last month. Any thoughts you have would be great appreciated. Thanks! -Shawn1
