Hi Oliver,
There are a lot of factors that go into on-site optimization. Here are a few:
- Title Tags
Does your website feature Title Tags featuring the keywords you are targeting? This is a major factor Google takes into consideration when indexing your website for your key terms.
- H1 Headings
Same as above, but on the pages themselves. They tell Googlebot what the page is about and what it should be indexed under.
- When were these changes made?
Indexing can take weeks to occur after you have made site changes. Google will get around to it some time.
- Robots.txt
Is your robots.txt file blocking Google access? Make sure you are open to Google before determining it is not indexing your website.
- Content
The content of the page should feature the keywords you are targeting, but make sure not to over-optimize your content for these keywords. Stuffing terms into the page in unnatural places is a good way to have your website penalized.
- Definition
When your friend says "Google isn't indexing your site", what reasons/evidence do they have? Are they using rank tracking software? Some of this software will not show your website if it does not appear in SERP's above a certain point (SERPbook, for example, only should the top 300 SERP results for a keyword if you meet that criteria).
Consider each of these factors and see if there is something you are missing - feel free to follow up with me if you have additional questions.
Best of luck!
Rob

Oliver,
Hard to say without more details regarding your site and practices used. If it's a really new site, it might take some time for search engines to pick up on it. In the meantime, make sure:
- Your website isn't being blocked through robots.txt or meta noindex tags. (these things can prevent your site from being indexed in search engines)
- You have good content on your homepage and relevant pages, and don't just have keywords stuffed in there for the sake of keywords.
- Optimize your title tags and meta descriptions to make it sound natural, and invite people to click on your links.
- Set up your google search console account to monitor your site, and make sure to use the "fetch as google" tool to increase the speed in which google will index your pages. (you can set up an account here: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools)
Aside from that, as I said, it will often take some time for new websites to gain some ground and have their pages indexed.

Web Page Dropped Out of Google?
One of our web pages seems to have completely dropped out of Google after featuring on page 1 for a number of years. It can't be a site wide issue as all other web pages are performing as normal. The page is http://www.contractormoney.com/income-protection/ and the key phrase it was performing well for was 'contractor income protection'. Any ideas??

Delete indexed spam pages
Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone had this same situation, or may know of a solution. One of our sites was recently pharmahacked 😞 We found an entire pharmaceutical site in one of the folder of our site. We were able to delete it, but now Google is showing us on not found error for those pages we deleted. First, I guess the question is will this harm us? If so, anyway we can fix this? Obliviously we don't want to do a 303 redirect for spam pages. Thanks!

Trying to get on Google page one for keyword "criminal defense attorney san diego". What can I do?
I'm trying to help a friend who is an attorney get on page one for the keyword "criminal defense attorney san diego." So far I've changed his title and description tags since they weren't optimized before. (SERP shows old title tag, however I submitted a XML sitemap through Webmaster tools to get the new title tags updated.) He also had a few duplicate pages, but I took care of that with some 301 redirects. I also added a h1 tag, alt image tag, and more content. I also spent a few hours building links for him. He currently has a page authority of 52 and domain authority of 44 with a decent amount of links pointing to his site. I'm wondering why he's stuck on page 4, when his competitors that have less impressive numbers seem to show up on page 1. I did look at his link profile using OSE and I'm worried that his old SEO guy got him spam links. His website is www.nasserilegal.com, however the page I was focusing on was www.nasserilegal.com/criminal.html Any advice would be great.

Does Google pass link juice a page receives if the URL parameter specifies content and has the Crawl setting in Webmaster Tools set to NO?
The page in question receives a lot of quality traffic but is only relevant to a small percent of my users. I want to keep the link juice received from this page but I do not want it to appear in the SERPs.

Would moving a large part of our website onto a separate website be SEO suicide?
Hello, Our website currently has what I would call educational and sales pages - which sells our services and also a techy section for the developer community. The developer pages on the website have some of the highest authority pages that we have and equates for about 50% of the content. It has been proposed to move the developer pages onto their own domain - away from the main website. Now, would this crush a lot of the SEO benefit that we have on our main site? Does anyone know of a workable solution that would help retain the SEO. Would linking to our main site from the developer site help? It would be great to hear what people think, Thanks,

Google Indexed URLs for Terms Have Changed Causing Huge SERP Drop
We haven't made any significant changes to our website, however the pages that google has indexed for our critical keywords have changed to pages that have caused our SERP to drop dramatically for those pages. In some cases, the changes make no sense at all. For example, one of our terms that used to be indexed to our homepage is now indexed to a dead category page that has nothing on it. One of our biggest terms, where we were 9th, changed and is now indexed to our FAQ. As a result, we now rank 44th. This is having a MAJOR impact on our business so any help on why this sudden change happened and what we can do to combat it is greatly appreciated.

New Domain Page 7 Google but Page 1 Bing & Yahoo
Hi just wondered what other people's experience is with a new domain. Basically have a client with a domain registered end of May this year, so less than 3 months old! The site ranks for his keyword choice (not very competitive), which is in the domain name. For me I'm not at all surprised with Google's low ranking after such a short period but quite surprsied to see it ranking page 1 on Bing and Yahoo. No seo work has been done yet and there are no inbound links. Anyone else have experience of this? Should I be surprised or is that normal in the other two search engines? Thanks in advance Trevor
