Ecommerce, SEO & Pagination
-
Hi
I'm trying to workout if there's something wrong with our pagination.
We include the rel="next" and "prev" on our pages.
When clicking on page 2 on a product page, the URL will show as something like -
/lockers#productBeginIndex:30&orderBy:5&pageView:list&
However, if I search site:http://www.key.co.uk/en/key/lockers in Google, it seems to find paginated pages:
http://www.key.co.uk/en/key/lockers?page=2
I have a feeling something is going wrong here, but haven't worked massively on Pagination before. Can anyone help?

Ok thank you for your input

Honestly, I think there is no really an issue with what's happening on your website. It can be a bit awkward for users to see different urls from expected ones, but most "standard" users don't look at browser's address bar anyway.
P.S. No, don't redirect ?page=2 to POST request.

Hi
Thank you for your comprehensive response.
I see the issue no. 1 which I can get fixed.
Is it an issue for the post URL and the link to be different? Should the ?page=2 redirect to the post request URL? Or can this be left as it is?
I don't work on code so I am not sure how to identify whether there is something wrong here.
Thank you

Just dug a little more.
Yes, my #3 thought seems to be correct. Basically, there is ajax or js which intercepts request and does its work.
However, I think that for rankings you actually would want ?page=x to rank, because if js is disabled in browser, then post request url might not work, you won't be able to bookmark and, if you change backend filtering, it won't exist.

Hi there.
I see some issues:
- you say you use rel=next and rel=prev. When I go to provided url and look at the source code, i see only rel=next and ALL of them are linked to ?page=2. Definitely look into that.
- when i hover over page numbers, it shows me url structure as ?page=x, not the post request, so, there might be some miscommunication in the code. At the same time, ?page=x are existent and not redirected to post request pages (I assume that's what you want to be happening). So that might be an issue as well.
- It seems to me that what's happening is if i click on pagination button, i get to ?page=x, then internally from page the post request is being sent and it changes the displayed URL. If this is true, then ?page=x will be displayed in SERPs, because POST url change is happening after page is accessed.
Hope it's not super confusing

Magento 1.9 SEO. I have product pages with identical On Page SEO score in the 90's. Some pull up Google page 1 some won't pull up at all. I am searching for the exact title on that page.
I have a website built on Magento 1.9. There are approximately 290,000 part numbers on the site. I am sampling Google SERP results. About 20% of the keywords show up on page 1 position 5 thru 10. 80% don't show up at all. When I do a MOZ page score I get high 80's to 90's. A page score of 89 on one part # may show up on page one, An identical page score on a different part # can't be found on Google. I am searching for the exact part # in the page title. Any thoughts on what may be going on? This seems to me like a Magento SEO issue.

SEO issues with Magento
Hi Everyone, We use Magento CMS for our site and we are having a frustrating time resolving our SEO issues. The site was very poorly managed in years past and in the past year I have redesigned and cleaned up many things. However we are recently having trouble with indexing and keyword ranking. Issue #1: Our main keyword ranking has dropped quite a bit while our other less important keywords have steadily risen. I suspect a very strict robots.txt implemented back in early January may have been the culprit. We have since been modifying it with out much luck. Many of our pages are still blocked. 12/05/12 : ranked 12th 1/09/13: ranked 19th 1/16/13: ranked 35th Now: out of top 50 (52nd) Issue #2: Not a single image is being indexed. We are 0 for 582 according to Webmaster tools. Not sure why... Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated as I have great determination and interest in learning the correct way to fix/do this. Right SEO strategy for Wordpress
Hello all, I am working on my SEO strategy for a WordPress site. I am trying to cover all my keywords in: 1.a) Page title trying to have a length <70 1.b) Page url trying to have a length<115 My question is: should i try to focus all my keywords in both name and url page path? or only in the Page title as the SEOMOZ's guide suggest? I would go for a mix strategy with my keywords in both page title and url path name, but I do not know if the search engines PAY MORE ATTENTION TO THE PAGE TITLE, so mixing 1.a) and 1.b) would mean I am loosing keywords. I am using the WordPress All in ONE SEO Plugin. Do you recommend me this or any other plugin? This plugin has 3 input fields: a) Title tag b) Description tag c) Keywords My questions here are: a) If these tags replace the standard settings of WP as described in point 1.a) b) If the description and title tags are META TAGS that are not taken into account in terms of SEO but in terms of customer description of the contento of the page. c) Where are the keywords listed inserted in the page? In H1, H2, H3 and H4 tags? My feeling after reading the SEOMOZ guide is that this plugin is not providing any added value for SEO any more??' Thank you very much, Best regards, Antonio Alcocer

International SEO and server hosting
I'd appreciate feedback on a situation. We're going through a major overhaul in how we globally manage our websites. Regional servers were part of our original plan (one in Chicago, UK, and APAC) but we've identified a number of issues with this approach. Although it's considered a best practice among many, the challenges we'd face doing it are considerable (added complexity, added steps and delays to updating sites, among others). So, we shifted our plan and how are looking at hosting here in the US but to use Akami to deliver images and other heavier data pieces from their local servers (in the UK, etc.). This is how many of the larger companies like Amazon, etc. delivery their global websites. We hope that using Akami will allow us to have good performance while simplifying our process. Any warning signs we should be aware of? Anyone doing it this way and has a good experience/bad experience?
