What to include in my report ?
-
Hi everybody,
I'm not a SEO expert just an e-marketing trainee and i have to create a smart SEO report template for a real estate company.
I don't know what to include in this personal monthly report :
What are the key informations ?
Should I include Google Analytics data and wich one?Sorry for my english that's not my mother tongue.
Thanks for your answers

An easy way to say something about revenue are goals in analytics. It's pretty easy for clients to tell you, what a conversation or lead is worth for them. So you can easy easy use that with goals in Analytics. Or you need e-commerce tracking - depends on client (https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1037249?hl=en)

Thanks you all for your quick replies, you help me a lot !
If I well understood you, data like Keyword Ranking or Landing Page analyse are not usefull for the client
So I will focus my report on Conversion and Traffic because I haven't got any data about revenue.
Thanks everybody ! You are very helpfull !
Cheers

Tom Roberts said what you need. In my country (I don't know where u are from, but you said engl. isn't your native language - so it's also not mine) it is pretty hard to tell people, that it is not usefull to see things like ranking positions and earned backlinks. But earned links can be come from anywhere not your active work and rankings are just - like tom said - a point of organic visits.
Here a lot of people think you can rank under silly keywords wich are searched a lot and you can make organic traffic looks good, when u rank under such keywords. When your client understand, that this is simply not the truth, the three points are all you need (Traffic, Revenue, Conversations/leads)
breakdowns like branded vs non branded, mobile vs desktop are possible.
Hope you live in a country, where people know a bit more how internet/search works. I had to refuse potential clients, because they simply don't understand (or even tried or try to believe)
edit: saw that Tim Holmes mentioned mobile so thumb up 4 you tim

That is a great resource from Tom. his three initial points are also my top elements. I would also think you could consider breaking your traffic down into sources and mediums. Organic, CPC, Email etc to help show your clients where the traffic is coming from
Also in today's ever increasing mobile market, also a breakdown of traffic by device.
Cheers

Speaking from both a producer and a recipient of these reports:
The most important things for me are:
- Revenue
- Conversions
- Traffic
In that order.
For any SEO report, I would be expecting to see, above all else, how much organic visitors (or people who have visited from organic search in some part of their user journey) have generated in terms of revenue. Some companies model this entirely within Google Analytics, others may have a CRM that stores the customer financial data that you'll need to sync up with analytics. But basically, show them **how much money **organic search has made them last month.
After that, I'd want to see how many organic search visitors converted on the site (bought something, signed up etc). It's worth reporting this separately from revenue, as you can get an idea of which conversions are more "valuable" to you. Show them how many conversions organic search has given them.
Next, look at traffic. This is important to report as you need to show them how much organic search is contributing to their overall traffic, and hopefully show them it is increasing. It can also help you identify other issues - for example, if traffic increases but revenue or conversions do not, is there a problem with the quality of the traffic or, more likely, a problem with the website's user journey or design? Remember, organic search is inbound marketing, and so searchers are actively looking for the thing that drives them to your web page. If you can get organic traffic but can't get it to convert, it is usually a problem with your website's design or UX. Show them how many visitors organic search has given them.
Anything else, to a company receiving an update on how SEO is progressing, is just fluff. My clients don't need to see things like error rate, crawl indexing, canonical reporting - even rankings (a sub-KPI of traffic, but ultimately not what the client is interested in). For a top level report - something that says what has our money got us - I stick with these three principles. If I'm producing a technical audit on the website, then of course you want to give more detail, but for a general monthly report it's overkill.
There are caveats to all of this (such as breaking down branded vs non-branded organic traffic), but this should be the starting point.
Hope this helps.

Magento creating odd URL's, no idea why. GWT reporting 404 errors
Hi Mozzes! Problem 1 GWT and Moz, both are reporting approximately one hundred 404 errors for certain URL's. Examples shown below. We have no idea why or how these URL's are being created in Magento. Any hypothesis on the matter would be appreciated. The domain name in question is http://www.artorca.com/ These are valid URL's if /privacy is removed. The first URL is for a product, second for an artist profile and third for a CMS page 1. semi-abstract-landscape/privacy 2. jose-de-la-barra/privacy 3. seller-guide/privacy What may be the source for these URL's? What solution should we implement to fix existing 404's? 301 redirects should be fine? Problem 2 Website pages seem to also be accessible with index.php in the domain name. Example Artorca.com/index.php/URL's. Will this cause a duplicate content issue? Should we implement 301's, canonicals, or just leave as is? Cheers! MozAddict

New to Moz and wanted a bit of help with my report
Hi, I have used the MOZ report to analyse one of my friends sites and I wanted to query a few warnings it highlighted and I just wanted people's thought on how important they thought these were: The first is dupliate descriptions/titles. This is mainly down the e-commerce pages. Fist duplicate content:
Moz Pro | | dannylancs
On some pages the description is identical and all that is different is the title and picture, is this an issue? Duplicate pages:
Due to the way the website folder structure/catergories has been created some pages are identical but because the product comes under 2 cetergories there is 2 seperate pages, should we use the canonical on one of the pages? Also regarding the canonical tag, they have put link rel="canonical" on every page and got it to point at itself, so not really being used in the way it is meant to be. Could something like this cause any harm? The final thing is internal linking back to the homepage. If for example the homepage is http://www.test.com, when linking back is it best to put the full URL over "index.html" even though they are the same page? Any help really appreciated Dan0 -
Is the Moz Ranking Report correct?
Hello here, today I got my weekly report from Moz by email and it reported a strong decline of rankings on some of our major keywords. Then I went to check on Google personally, and instead I found my pages ranked much higher than reported by Moz (please note that my results wasn't personalized...). I also use a desktop program to check my rankings, and what I found personally on Google corresponded to what my desktop program reported me. Here is an example: my website is virtualsheetmusic.com, and Moz reported a rank NOT in top 50 for the following keyword: "moonlight sonata sheet music" Whereas we are actually on the 19th spot. Another example for the keyword "czardas violin sheet music", Moz reports NOT in top 50, whereas we are actually at the 5th spot on the first page of Google results! Why's this? Anyone can explain? Is there anything wrong with Moz ranking report?

Automated Reports
I just set up automated reports for the first time for my campaigns. They've just run and some are missing alot of data. For instance, one shows zero keywords. When there are in fact lots of keywords in the campaign. Another shows no changes in rankings, when there were changes in ranking. Is there a way to re-run the reports? I've set them up monthly and don't want to wait another month to see if they worked?

Report notification emails (SEOmoz PRO Application ) --- Is it possible to customise the sender email address and/or email signature
The ranking reports are great but is there any way of changing the sender email address to be our own, and have our signature appearing at the bottom of the email notifications? We'd really like to send them direct to our customers and save some time double handling.

"Powered by SEOMOZ" at the bottom of White Label reports?
I'd like to upgrade to Pro Plus for the white label / own branding option. However, I have just noticed that the "white label" pdf reports still feature "Powered by SEOMOZ" at the bottom of each page. Is this a mistake? $2400 / year should be enough to remove SEOMOZ branding completely, surely?

On the Crawl Diagnostics Summary, its reporting over 100 "Title Missing or Empty" issues, but they all check out fine?
Wondering if there Is a bug with the crawler or known timeout issues? Site speed is fast, but we do run a couple of large cron jobs out of hours, which may be the cause of any timeouts, but shouldn't the crawler report that, rather saying no title tags on 100 pages, when there are? SEOmoz newbie, so still finding my feet 🙂
