Different meta tags appearing in SERP for same landing page
-
Hi all, hoping someone can help.
We have a landing page that ranks quite well for a number of keywords that send us a nice amount of organic traffic.
We understand the importance of Meta tags, as Google will be the users first interaction with our site we want to stand out and be noticed and also show we provide information on their search query.
The problem is this, while we have optimised the title and description tags for the landing page, this is only appearing on specific search results. If you were to search a different keyword, you would still get the same landing page, but the title tag and description would not pull through, it decides to pull through the page name and first few lines of text instead.
Is there anything we can do to sort this issue?

As always, Google thinks it knows best. What's new? lol
Good luck!

Thanks Ria. The strange thing is, in my opinion, the search queries it is pulling through the meta data for are probably less relevant than the search queries it isn't pulling it through for. It looks like I will have to spend some time optimising and hoping we can get it showing on Google in the next couple of days.

This is quite common when Google feels that the specified title and meta description isn't as relevant to the search query (or if they feel that your title and meta description is misleading and irrelevant to the page content). So although it might show your title and meta description for the majority of search queries, they might decide that they can do better and provide a more relevant title and meta description based on the user's search query. Unfortunately when it comes to this, you can't win them all. The important thing is to make sure that your title is optimised and relevant to the content that's on the page as much as possible, and that your meta description is both enticing to the user and also relevant to the content of the page. I've found that, although Google no longer use the meta description as a ranking factor, it's still important to get a couple of your page's keywords in there just to prove relevance.

Getting Google Plus Page to Appear
I've recently been making changes and updates to my company's verified local Google + page--my question is when and/or how do I configure it to appear in the search results? When I type my business into Google (Exchange Capital Management), it's not even within the results displayed. The page isn't accessible unless someone were to Google "Exchange Capital Management Google Plus." As mentioned, the page has been verified, updated, and has about 8,000+ views. Any advice or feedback is appreciated! All best, Lauren McLaughlin

.land extension or .com extension? Please help!
hi, its me again. I bought 2 domains for my new site I want to build. My keyword is: "BabyHazelGames" babyhazelgames.land ( for me it sounded like "the land of baby hazel" etc ) PlayHazel.com ( short .com domain, still says what the sites about ) If u check first page for this keyword u see most of the sites are EMD-s or filler partial EMD ( on .com-s)Someone told me to buy a EMD since I fight with EMD-s on first page, and its the only way I have a chance! I bought The games license, theme license and all of these. That was alot of money, and I dont want to put all my money and work on the wrong domain name. Please help me decide between these 2; Thanks!

Difference Between Authorship & Publishership?
I am working for a business and I would like my Google+ posts to show the business picture/information and not my own. Does this mean I would leave authorship blank and use a rel=publisher tag instead? Or is it bette rto do both? I don't really know much about the subject so feel free to let the schooling begin!

How to control Artist Info sidebar on Google SERP?
Google has added an information sidebar to its SERPs for public figures, including artists of all stripes. Search for "Coldplay" and you'll see what I mean. I'm wondering where Google pulls this information from, and how to keep it complete and up to date. The sidebar includes basic information, including Birthday, Education, Awards and Works (albums / books etc.). In representing an artist, this is now the first encapsulated information presented to user searching for my artist, and I want to make sure it's accurate. Any insight on how to edit this info would be truly appreciated.

What is the impact of the new google+ share button on SERP
Hello mozzers, I'm currently wondering what will be the impact of the new social signal ( Google+ Share ) on SERP an organic traffic. As we all know by now , Facebook share have an higher social signal authority then the Facebook like on SERP @Randfish posted some great info at: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/facebook-twitters-influence-google-search-rankings Since Google rolled out the new Google+ Share social signa at : https://developers.google.com/+/plugins/share/?utm_source=blog&utm_medium=gplusdevelopers&utm_campaign=shareplugin I was wondering if somebody had the chance to do some clear testing on the SERP impact of this new social signal even if its a fresh addition to the social signals. Facebook Like my website or fan page??
Should I want people facebook liking my website or my fan page? Is there a way to link the two? Here is my dilemma... People liking my website will obviously have an effect on rankings within bing and google possibly. BUT - People liking my fan page will allow me to engage with them in the future about givaways, sales and so on. I'm stuck, is there a way to link these? Or if not, which do you recommend?

PPC effecting personalisation and thus future personalised SERP's
I've been thinking about personalisation and PPC.. If you have a PPC campaign and a vistor comes to your site and has a look around, if that user doesn't clear there cache etc then that visit via PPC will start to effect their personalisation search results? It would almost be worth maintaining a high level of PPC spend and counting on personalization bias in SERPs in the longer term.. What do you think about this? Are there any safe guards in place to make sure this bias doesn't happen?
