Partial mobile sitemap
-
Hi,
We have a main www website with a standard sitemap. We also have a m. site for mobile content (but m. is only for our top pages and doesn't include the entire site). If a mobile client accesses one of our www pages we redirect to the m. page. If we don't have a m. version we keep them on the www site. Currently we block robots from the mobile site.
Since our m. site only contains the top pages, I'm trying to determine the boost we might get from creating a mobile sitemap. I don't want to create the "partial" mobile sitemap and somehow have it hurt our traffic.
Here is my plan
-
update m. pages to point rel canonical to appropriate www page (makes sure we don't dilute SEO across m. and www.)
-
create mobile sitemap and allow all robots to access site.
Our www pages already rank fairly highly so just want to verify if there are any concerns since m. is not a complete version of www?

Have a look at the resources below and let me know if you need more help. Responsive web design is recommended by Google but it does not apply to all websites. You have to take into consideration things like user intent, navigation, content. There is a lot of debate about it here on Seomoz and I would proceed carefully by reading some of the resources below. One thing I would advice though is to keep the robots blocked until you figure out what you want. In my opinion, Bryson Meunier has written quite a lot about the subject on several respected blogs in the industry.

Please help, (going bananaz) trying to trouble shoot sitemap submitted to Bing
We need help to figure out what seems to be an error in our sitemap.
Technical SEO | | IMSvintagephotos
We have submitted the sitemap to BING and the sitemap includes 1,2 million pages that should be crawled. After initial submission, Bing says in the dashboard that 1,2 million pages have been submitted. Then always after 2-4 days the number drops to either 500.000 pages or like now 250.000 pages. Why is that? is there an error in our sitemap and BING in excluding pages, and it lowers the submitted number after going through them and discovering the error ?. We need to figure this out and fix so that BING can crawl and index all our 1,2 million pages. See the screenshot showing the BING dashboard.
We are also having issues with google but we can't figure out what is going on. Here are the sitemaps: https://imsvintagephotos.com/google_sitemap/sitemap.xml and here: https://imsvintagephotos.com/sitemap.xml. Your website is www.imsvintagephotos.com qqp6gj0 -

What can be the cause for difference in local rankings between mobile and desktop?
I have a site that ranks differently for the same search term on mobile and desktop computer. I'm based in Glasgow, and the search term is (I've replaced the term with X's) XXXXXX XXXXX Glasgow Searching from a location in Glasgow: Desktop: Snackpack : 2, Organic : 6

Mobile: Snackpack: 1, Organic : 10 I'm keen to improve on the Organic positions as this term is a lead generating one for me. My site is mobile friendly and scores 69/100 on the speed test. Do you think bumping the pagespeed well "into the green" would help improve it's position? Is there anything else I should look at?0 -

Noob 101 - Sitemaps
Hi guys, looking for some sitemap help. I'm running two seperate systems so my auto-generated sitemap on the main system has a few holes in it. I'd like to submit this to webmaster anyway, and then plug the holes with missing pages by adding them to 'Fetch as Google'. Does that make sense or will Google ignore one of them? Many thanks, Idiot

I checked a few of the image URLs and they worked nicely. Thanks in advance, J
