Hosting set up in different country
-
Hi Guy's,
I was wondering if it matters if your hosting servers is set on a different country than where you're website is targeting (.de (germany) website and the server is in france)
Thanks!
-
Well - this was asked many times and answer is No. Here are more info about this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXt23AXlJJU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keIzr3eWK8I https://www.seroundtable.com/seo-geo-location-server-google-17468.html https://moz.com/community/q/does-the-location-of-my-server-effect-my-seo
But if you are using generic domain (not ccTLD or SearchConsole targeting country) this could be problem - https://builtvisible.com/ip-location-search-results/ They have .com domain and targeting UK market
So - if you have .de domain and in SC you set preferred geo location to Germany and your server is located in France (near Germany) then you shouldn't have to worry about it.

My content has been shared across different websites - how do I become the canonical link?
I wanted to ask about canonical links. Basically I produced some content for my website which was an interview with a famous band who were playing at a festival that summer. I told the festival and they asked to have exclusive dibs on releasing the piece in exchange for linking back to our domain. I said yes as I knew the link would be a good one. So this interview got posted up, I then posted in on my website's blog, and a month later the local newspaper also featured it on their website. Is there some way to have a creative license over this interview piece (which has been copied word for word) without getting the other websites to edit their code and add a canonical reference? I did ask them but my request was unsuccessful. I'm thinking there might be no way to claim this content as my website was not the first domain to post it? Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks

Technical guide for Setting up a CDN to host our images, as well as creating an image sitemap, and setting up the CDN in GWT?
Hi All! We're thinking of setting up a CDN to host our images with a CNAME on a subdomain of our site. In terms of SEO, I was wondering if any of you knew of a pretty complete technical guide for setting it all up. Including whether or not we need to create an image sitemap, and setting it up in GWT. Thanks in advance! Vince

Google Cache showing a different URL
Hi all, very weird things happening to us. For the 3 URLs below, Google cache is rendering content from a different URL (sister site) even though there are no redirects between the 2 & live page shows the 'right content' - see: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://giltedgeafrica.com/tours/ http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://giltedgeafrica.com/about/ http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://giltedgeafrica.com/about/team/ We also have the exact same issue with another domain we owned (but not anymore), only difference is that we 301 redirected those URLs before it changed ownership: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://www.preferredsafaris.com/Kenya/2 http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://www.preferredsafaris.com/accommodation/Namibia/5 I have gone ahead into the URL removal Tool and got denied for the first case above ("") and it is still pending for the second lists. We are worried that this might be a sign of duplicate content & could be penalising us. Thanks! ps: I went through most questions & the closest one I found was this one (http://moz.com/community/q/page-disappeared-from-google-index-google-cache-shows-page-is-being-redirected) but it didn't provide a clear answer on my question above

Country Specific Domains
Is there any type of "best practice" for country level domains? I run a TLD .com, and have a few country specific domains (.co.uk, .eu, ...). Right now, I'm not doing anything with them. Previously, I had them redirected to the main .com, but didn't want to anger the Google gods with any type of duplicate content, redirects, or anything of that nature. Any suggestions on how to best utalize these domains?

Does location of Server matter for ranking in country
Hi everyone, I'm looking for business in other countries and launching some sites over there, but i was wondering does the location of the server / IP matter? For example:

I want to launch a website in Denmark, do i have to have webhosting in Denmark to rank better over there so Google sees i'm from there? Or isn't this neccesary? Thanks, regards0 -
As an agency, what is the best way to handle being the webmaster and hosting provider for several sites (some of which are in the same industry and have natural links to each other)?
We are an agency that builds and hosts websites for several companies (some of which happen to be in the same industry - and therefore naturally link to each other - we do not dictate). In regards to handling their domain registrations, webmaster tools account, google analytics account, and servers, what is the best practice to avoid Google thinking that these companies are affilliated? Even though they aren't affiliated, we are afraid that us being the "webmaster" of these sites and having shared servers for them that we may be affecting them.
