Sitelinks problem
-
Hello,
I have a problem with the sitelinks on my website. Google keeps adding pages that don't belong in the sitelinks, but need to be indexed. Is there a way in which I can specify to the bot which section of the website, not to add in the sitelinks.
-
Nope, unfortunately not. Donford's answer is the only way you can remove those sitelinks without hurting your SEO.
Google wants to provide users with the best possible experience and sometimes this means providing them with links to the strongest/most used parts of your site directly from the SERPs. You can at least take it as a positive that they're showing up!
-
No, there isn't. Google uses whatever she see's fit to improve the user experience, based on the content she associates with your pages.

I know about the demote, but I was wondering if is any other solution. More like to tell google that the link from an entire section shouldn't be added in the sitelinks
-
Hi Silviu,
You can "Demote" links from appearing in the Sitelinks.
Here is a quick answer.
Login to Google Webmasters
Select Domain
Navigate to Search Appearance -> Sitelinks
Enter the URL for the page that shouldn't appear and click the "Demote" button.*Note Google will only follow this rule for 90 days so you'll have to check it every 3 months to insure everything is working the way you want.
Hope this helps,
Don

Critical Page Problems.
As I design my new pages I place them into the page optimizer. When I place the keyword in that I am trying to rank for my page is coming up as an A. With that said, I am still receiving error messages with critical fix results. Here is a screenshot of this: http://screencast.com/t/DuUrP8xM Curious on how I should fix this? The pages are directly on my blog which makes it accessible to search engines ( So I think). Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Rich-Snippets with Sitelinks. How-to?
Quick question with a hopefully easy answer (and to get away from all this Penguin 2.0 talk). Does anyone have any tips for activating Sitelinks for landing pages other than your homepage? I've attached a screenshot to better illustrate what I'm hoping to achieve, but basically I would like our SERP to have the same extra links under our meta description as the #2 result. I haven't been able to find any direct information as to how to achieve this. Is their markup code involved? Another one of those things that Google just randomly does? The keyword in questions is, "teaching jobs abroad" FYI Any factors that would point me in the right direction would be very helpful! Andrew qmK77hq

On Site Problem Caused Rankings To Drop?
I'm getting to the bottom of why my site dropped rankings on the 9th March. I noticed that in google there is a cached version of my site on 9th March at 8.37am which is when my rankings dissapeared. Presumably this is when google last crawled my site? I guess this means that google found something on the home page or on the site that it didn't like? I wonder if anyone can take a look and let me know if there's anything obvious. Could it be a duplicate content penalty as I have lots of categories pulling content from the same posts?

Canonical URL problem
On page analysis wanted me to add a canonical url tag. However I added then re ran the on page analysis and it came up with an error. What is the proper way to add a canonical url tag in the head of an index page? ie. add a canonical tag to www.hompeage.com/index.html would it be ? Or should I ignore this for a home page? Because I add it then run the analysis again and get this? Appropriate Use of Rel Canonical Moderate fix <dl> <dt>Canonical URL</dt> <dd>"http://www.ensoplastics.com/index.html"</dd> <dt>Explanation</dt> <dd>If the canonical tag is pointing to a different URL, engines will not count this page as the reference resource and thus, it won't have an opportunity to rank. Make sure you're targeting the right page (if this isn't it, you can reset the target above) and then change the canonical tag to reference that URL.</dd> <dt>Recommendation</dt> <dd>We check to make sure that IF you use canonical URL tags, it points to the right page. If the canonical tag points to a different URL, engines will not count this page as the reference resource and thus, it won't have an opportunity to rank. If you've not made this page the rel=canonical target, change the reference to this URL. NOTE: For pages not employing canonical URL tags, this factor does not apply.</dd> <dd>So do I add it or not? If I don't I get a lower page rating if I take it off I get a higher page rating with room for improvement. </dd> </dl>
