Number of goals larger than the events its bases on - WTF?
-
Hi all
We configured a standard goal in Analytics that is triggered on an event. I have seen cases where the number of triggered events is larger than the goal completions due to limitations to how many times the same goal can be fulfilled within the same session, BUT in this case we got the opposite problem. We got more Goal Completions than we got events that is supposed to trigger the goal.
Now also added a screenshot of how the goal is configured. As you can see its just configured to use the Category name of the event. Nothing fancy at all.
How can that be possible? Again, more goal completions than events that is suppose to trigger it?
Grateful for any help
Fredrik

Hi again Fredrik,
Sorry that it's taken such a long time to get back to you. This is an unusual problem, though!
As you haven't used regex, the top candidates would have to be:
- Some historical change in the goal criteria, or
- You have another event somewhere with the same category
Have you verified that neither of these is the case?

Screenshot added, thanks for the response

Hi Fredrik,
How did you set up the goal? Did you use any regular expressions? Please attach a screenshot of the goal configuration. I've attached a screenshot example here.
Thanks,
Stephan

Why No Goal is recorded in Google Analytics
Hello, I am not sure if i made an error. Can someone please point out. On our sales form, when a user submits the form, the URL displayed is - https://x-y.com/thank-you-2/ I created a Goal like this - 1 ) Under Goal set up, i choose Template option 2 ) Under Goal description, i choose Type > Destination 3 ) and finally, in Goal details field, destination equals to /thank-you-2/ But, no Goal is being tracked. In the first step, should i have selected 'Custom' instead of 'Template' Thanks

Editing "Goal Sets" for Goals in Analytics
I set up 8 goals in analytics and Google seems to have auto placed them into their own Goal sets (first 5 = Goal Set 1, last 3 are Goal Set 2). http://awesomescreenshot.com/05134f1tad Any idea how to edit and group these up myself?

Sudden Increase In Number of Pages Indexed By Google Webmaster When No New Pages Added
Greetings MOZ Community: On June 14th Google Webmaster tools indicated an increase in the number of indexed pages, going from 676 to 851 pages. New pages had been added to the domain in the previous month. The number of pages blocked by robots increased at that time from 332 (June 1st) to 551 June 22nd), yet the number of indexed pages still increased to 851. The following changes occurred between June 5th and June 15th: -A new redesigned version of the site was launched on June 4th, with some links to social media and blog removed on some pages, but with no new URLs added. The design platform was and is Wordpress. -Google GTM code was added to the site. -An exception was made by our hosting company to ModSecurity on our server (for i-frames) to allow GTM to function. In the last ten days my web traffic has decline about 15%, however the quality of traffic has declined enormously and the number of new inquiries we get is off by around 65%. Click through rates have declined from about 2.55 pages to about 2 pages. Obviously this is not a good situation. My SEO provider, a reputable firm endorsed by MOZ, believes the extra 175 pages indexed by Google, pages that do not offer much content, may be causing the ranking decline. My developer is examining the issue. They think there may be some tie in with the installation of GTM. They are noticing an additional issue, the sites Contact Us form will not work if the GTM script is enabled. They find it curious that both issues occurred around the same time. Our domain is www.nyc-officespace-leader. Does anyone have any idea why these extra pages are appearing and how they can be removed? Anyone have experience with GTM causing issues with this? Thanks everyone!!!

How to track click on phone number on mobile device in GA as a goal?
Hi, I work with a lot of physicians and one of the things I'd like to do is add a goal in GA so we can try to track how many visitors are clicking the phone # to call the office from smartphones. Would doing this be as straight-forward as adding a the standard javascript click text that I'd add for an external link? And Is there a way to make a goal only "count" if the user-agent is a smartphone? Because if I attach the JS to the phone #, it's going to be in all of the HTML regardless of which device is used. Unless of course, I mess with the CSS to only make the javascript code appear on certain stylesheets. Thank you!

Google Analytics Goal Tracking Not Working
I am trying to install goal tracking for a client to measure leads from SEO, and I'm running into problems with the Google Analytics goal tracking not working. The only thing that I can think of that is preventing goal tracking from working is that the URL confirming page request URI looks like "contact/#contact-form-4475" and perhaps the hashtag is causing problems. I wanted to ask the community if any of you have run into basic conversion tracking problems like this, where you need to track form fills on a website via a confirmation URL/destination URL goal, and what you did to solve it? I appreciate any input on how to get data on conversions either by fixing the goal in GA or using a different tracking tool. Thanks!
