When I click an outgoing link from Analytics - why are they all broken?
-
On one of my websites, if I visit the Behavior > Site Content section of Anayltics any link I try to open is broken. Google Analytics is appending the domain before every URL causing it to open in a popup but as a broken link.
Example:
Trying to click a link to a page on the website at this URL:
http://www.thisisanexample.com/test.html
But in the Analytics popup browser this is what it tries to load:
www.thisisanexample.comhttp://www.thisisanexample.com/test.html
So I can't preview any of the content within Google Analytics.
I feel like this is a settings issue somewhere...
Any ideas?
-
Yep, that's the one.
-
By the way, thanks for the help on this!
-
You mean Behavior > Site Content > All Pages?
-
Can you DM me a screenshot of your All Page report view?
-
I tried removing the filter (there was one under Admin > Account > All Filters and one under Admin > View > All Filters) they said Add Hostname to Request URI. But the issue is still occurring. I don't see anything that says Full Page URL in the filters sections. All of the other filters are 'exclude' or 'include'. Am I missing something here or is this possibly another setting?
-
Hi Shawn,
This is happening because you've got the Full Page URL filter engaged in Google Analytics. For some reason, even when you have that filter on, GA appends your domain to the beginning of the URL. Seems to me like they should provision for that with an option to turn it off.
If you turn off this filter, your links will work. If you need to see the domains for analysis, you can do so with a secondary dimension or with an advanced segment.

Here is an image with an arrow pointing to what I'm talking about. When you click the button that the arrow is pointing to, the Analytics external link popup opens up and that's where I have a broken link every time.

Funnel Problem in Google Analytics - Please help
Hello, I did set up a several funnel steps in my analytics account to get the funnel visualization report. But it's look fishy, something's clearly wrong that it shows only 10 visitors at the first step but actually more than 5k visitors has visited first goal page and followed through the another all steps. Everyday we are receiving 5k to 10k goal conversions but it not showing in the entire funnel steps through first step to last step. Please see the attached screenshot URL for funnel setup (Admin) and funnel visualization report comparing last two months traffic. Total goal conversions received 3,605 in last two months but in funnel chart (report) it showing only 2% conversions in last step. Anybody can tell me what is the problem with that or analytics not tracking properly?si65Y

Analytics options for website builder
I'm working on a website builder with a few friends and we would like to track traffic statistics for each site built on our platform. We're looking for a solution to dynamically generate analytics for each site published on our platform. I've used Google Analytics for a number of years, but I'm not sure if it's capable of doing something like what we're looking for. Any chance someone could throw me a bone? Thank you in advance!

Re-classifying a Traffic Source in Google Analytics
Hey All, I think it's inside of the Admin section of Google Analytics, right now I have a traffic source from the domain of indeed.ca that is being classified as Organic traffic when it should be classified as referring traffic, how can I tell Google Analytics that all traffic from this source should be classified as referral traffic and not organic traffic? Furthermore, after I make this change, will Google Analytics re-classify my past data so I can do a proper analysis? I can't remember how to do this and any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Link Analysis Past 6 Months
I'm analyzing inbound links for a site and I was wondering if there is a way to see how many of the links were created in a certain time period? Example how many inbound links were sent to this sub domain during the past 6 months? I would think there would be a fairly simple way to do this, but not sure. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Set up Google Analytics by product category
Does anyone know if it's possible to set up Google Analytics data by product category? We sell roughly twenty product categories on our ecommerce site. We can look at our analytics performance for the site overall and drill down to specific pages, but what we really want to see is our performance by product category. Our product categories can include up to 5000 products. Any pointers on how to do this?

Unique root linking domains - clarification
Hi guys, In SEOMoz Search Ranking Factors, one of the the top ranking factors is number of unique root domains linking to the page: http://www.seomoz.org/article/search-ranking-factors#metrics-5 My question is: do these unique root domains need to be unique root domains liking to my domain also? E.g. www.mydomain.com/landingpage1/ already got a link from www.externaldomain.com If www.externaldomain.com has another link pointing to www.mydomain.com/landingpage2/ will this link be counted? If yes will the value be diluted as www.externaldomain.com has already linked to www.mydomain.com/ Many thanks. David
